Tasted by meatbomb013 on 4/15/2020 & rated 92 points: My first experience with a Zinfandel with more than a couple of years of age. I wasn’t sure what I would experience but was pleasantly surprised. The typically jammy fruit has mellowed to much more elegant blackberry and cherry and there is nice acidity. It didn’t overpower dinner (chimichurra pork tenderloin) rather it enhanced the experience.
I have always handled Zinfandel as a “drink within a couple of years of release.” This wine experience has made me question that strategy. (597 views)
Tasted by wineoracle on 1/21/2019 & rated 92 points: Blackberries and dark cherries on the nose which carry onto the palate along with rich plum flavors providing a nice finish (654 views)
Tasted by ataraxy on 7/25/2016 & rated 92 points: I am not a zin fan- typically they are heavy and jammy and sweet. I had it in my cellar because I thought I ought to have a bottle or two, and drank it because it was reaching its time. So I was surprised to find that I really enjoyed it! Poured from a Coravin and drank with a steak.

It was heavy, but had lovely plum and blackberry flavors. (1444 views)
Tasted by DaninClearwater on 2/15/2016 & rated 92 points: lovely, soft fruit a well aged zin (1554 views)
Tasted by suburbanfrog on 10/4/2015 & rated 93 points: Nicely balanced with GREAT Russian River Zinfandel fruit and a very intense nose. Great Zin! (1458 views)
Tasted by Sauvyfan on 9/14/2014 & rated 93 points: WS Zins are always so beautifully balanced. This one brimming with blueberry/blackberry bramble on the nose. Vibrant. Some cigar box in behind the fruit. Cinnamon stick and a touch of nutmeg. The palate is lush with blueberry and wild cherry. Silky, almost absent tannin. Long and tasty finish. (1716 views)
Tasted by RLP805 on 3/3/2014 & rated 92 points: pop and poured, note being written on first glass. Plum, strawberry with some pepper but not as much as some Zins I have had. Great mid palate finish, some tannins but not a lot. Really enjoyable and maybe one of the best finishes I have tasted. (1615 views)
Tasted by dougie on 2/2/2014 & rated 91 points: Opened and poured off a glass. Sat for two hours. Started off smooth and balanced- like it was well aged. Then, it built up intensity throughout 3 hours. (1137 views)
Tasted by brianngibson on 8/21/2013 & rated 91 points: A little more jam and pepper than I recalled or noted in the previous bottle. (1380 views)
Tasted by Stumpy on 2/27/2013 & rated 85 points: Atypical WS zin. On the nose plum, dark cherry and a whiff of anise. The surprise is the medium body, lighter than the normal WS zin. I think it was actually a slightly off bottle as the flavor profile was thin and undistinguished. Oddly it was still enjoyable. (1483 views)
Tasted by Terramare on 11/19/2012 & rated 92 points: Exceptional, continuing a long line of very nice W-S offerings we've had over the past few years. (1283 views)
Tasted by brianngibson on 11/9/2012 & rated 92 points: Very expressive Zin. Refined and not overwhelmed with heat and pepper. Elegant. Plum, cherry, raspberry, spice, and a subtle hint of cedar. (1174 views)
Tasted by jtinto on 9/4/2012 & rated 90 points: Medium weight with fine grained tannins. Very approachable. Considering the price point it didn't blow me away but enjoyed it. (1717 views)
Tasted by bhouk on 7/16/2012: Made with a deft hand, this is rich and briary. It is very tasty. To the extent zin is ever worth $50, this one is in that class. A worthy peer of Ridge Lytton Springs and Geyserville, but certainly not better. In the end, I would have to say that it is a bit pricy for what it is. (1300 views)
Tasted by wap1961 on 4/28/2012 & rated 90 points: Good rich Zin. Not over the top on fruit or alcohol. Would benefit from several more years in bottle. (1268 views)
Tasted by Scharin on 4/22/2012 & rated 90 points: Nose of strawberry jam and white pepper. On the palate, dark cherries and other red fruits with medium tannins. (1204 views)
Tasted by wabi47 on 4/22/2012 & rated 88 points: tasted at winery pick up w/e; sweet blackberry and black raspberry; some elegance; price point is hard to understand. (1217 views)

USA

American wine has been produced since the 1500s, with the first widespread production beginning in New Mexico in 1628. Today, wine production is undertaken in all fifty states, with California producing 84% of all U.S. wine. The continent of North America is home to several native species of grape, including Vitis labrusca, Vitis riparia, Vitis rotundifolia, and Vitis vulpina, but the wine-making industry is based almost entirely on the cultivation of the European Vitis vinifera, which was introduced by European settlers. With more than 1,100,000 acres (4,500 km2) under vine, the United States is the fourth-largest wine producing country in the world, after Italy, Spain, and France.

2021 vintage: "Unlike almost all other areas of the state, the Russian River Valley had higher than normal crops in 2021, which has made for a wine of greater generosity and fruit forwardness than some of its stablemates." - Morgan Twain-Peterson
