Tasted by ZinFin on 1/1/2021 & rated 84 points: Still good after all this time.
Fruit did mellow out.
Lost some dryness.
Lost some depth and complexity.
But still drinks good, smooth and nice finish.
Should have drank a few years ago. But good enough to still finish the bottle ;) (1350 views)
Tasted by lmbois on 4/17/2015 & rated 92 points: There is no sediment in the bottle. (5031 views)
Tasted by davewr on 12/24/2014 flawed bottle: Corked. Smelled like stale swamp water. (5084 views)
Tasted by AWINSETT on 7/23/2014 & rated 89 points: I have liked every Sterling offering I have tried. Always a good wine for a good price. I wouldn't call this cab a particularly well-balanced wine, but a thoroughly enjoyable experience. Flavorful fruit, full body, appropriate tannin and acidity. Satisfying finish. I'm buying more tomorrow. (5747 views)
Tasted by Trolson on 2/12/2014 & rated 87 points: Good drinkable wine: body though nothing noteworthy (6258 views)
Tasted by Tfols on 11/16/2013 & rated 89 points: Enjoyable. Bit tamer than some cabs - may have mellowed. Winner among several different drinkers, so that's a plus as well. not a large amount of fruit, but a more complex mid and back palate than I'd normally expect. (6000 views)
Tasted by Mlbarrowjr on 7/23/2013 & rated 88 points: Definite value for money. Quite impressed. (3275 views)
Tasted by rouge vin on 5/6/2013 & rated 89 points: J'ai vraiment un faible pour celui-ci. Mais il le mérite tellement.

Un Américain qui sans être trop boisé, coule bien et est bien équilibré. Superbe encore une fois! (3440 views)
Tasted by RBOND on 4/28/2013 & rated 90 points: Full, rich and ready to drink. A good solid wine at a good price (2735 views)
Tasted by TLC_Farm on 4/1/2013 & rated 87 points: Not complex or bursting with flavors, but decent for the price (2492 views)
Tasted by RBOND on 3/31/2013: Drank at the 2013 tennis party (2123 views)
Tasted by FlyinI on 2/17/2013 & rated 88 points: well integrated, smooth, not complex, vanilla notes (2100 views)
Tasted by Nodakgus on 2/4/2013 & rated 88 points: Strong fruit, smooth tannins, enjoyable to sip. (1944 views)
Tasted by kenhoeve on 1/24/2013 & rated 79 points: The nose is mute. I have however positively identified the palate as being red wine. The tannins are a bit drying. That's all I have to say about that. (2135 views)
Tasted by Brandson@rogers.com on 1/19/2013 & rated 92 points: We like this wine. Medium tanning and taste. Some smoky taste. (2030 views)
Tasted by tcdonovan on 12/29/2012 & rated 89 points: Very good. Fruity. Drinkable alone or with food. (2020 views)
Tasted by tclaver on 12/26/2012 & rated 86 points: Maybe best described as "medium"??? Somewhat weak on the nose. Smooth tanins. Liked the mouthfeel / texture as smooth and creamy. Not very long on the finish. Easy to drink for sure. Nothing stood out as extrodinary, but was enjoyable.
The body is Light/Medium. The wine has Smooth texture. The wine finishes Short. (2051 views)
Tasted by rmcnees on 12/11/2012 & rated 91 points: Dark ruby colored, medium bodied, this is a vibrant, complex fruit forward wine bursting with a range of flavors of black berry, currant and raspberry fruits, with a layer of spice, oak and hints of mocha and cedar with moderate fine integrated tannins on a lingering finish. What a pleasant surprise in this high achieving red wine blend that provides a high QPR (Quality Price Ratio) in this moderate priced label.

Tasted by mdonath on 12/7/2012 & rated 90 points: Lots going on here -- strong pepper, big berry, lots of tannin. Needs a good airing out to tone it down a touch. If there is a flaw here, the nose is a bit weak, but this is still a solid wine. (2006 views)
Tasted by td1836 on 11/23/2012 & rated 89 points: Classic napa cab. Big blackberry flavors with oak mixed in and maybe some tobacco. I got a case of this for Chuck and Mary Alice at $16/bottle, and at that price, excellent QPR. (951 views)
Tasted by mikev101 on 11/7/2012 & rated 92 points: Held up against Peju, Ladera and Hall.....excellent QPR... (2321 views)
Tasted by VinoServant on 8/31/2012 & rated 92 points: I drink a lot of Cabernet and Merlot based wines from Sterling (Napa Valley and Reserve), and this wine was exceptional. Blew me away and far exceeded what I expected. Very well integrated and the fruit absolutely shines. No rough edges and hints of alcohol overload. It was even better on day 2. I have to go find some of their '06, '07 and '08 NV C/S to compare. I went through a case of their '01 NV C/S and loved it. (2428 views)
Tasted by Tim Heaton on 8/14/2012: fdizzy nailed it, I think. Not a good QPR if in fact it's something you insist on drinking. (2589 views)
Tasted by deschamp52 on 7/29/2012 & rated 87 points: Maybe I'm jaded but this is just OK given the range of flavors from Napa cabernets. Little complexity. (2388 views)
Tasted by mikev101 on 7/2/2012 & rated 90 points: always solid (2565 views)

Cabernet Sauvignon

Cabernet Sauvignon is probably the most famous red wine grape variety on Earth. It is rivaled in this regard only by its Bordeaux stablemate Merlot, and its opposite number in Burgundy, Pinot Noir. From its origins in Bordeaux, Cabernet has successfully spread to almost every winegrowing country in the world. It is now the key grape variety in many first-rate New World wine regions, most notably Napa Valley, Coonawarra and Maipo Valley. Wherever they come from, Cabernet Sauvignon wines always seem to demonstrate a handful of common character traits: deep color, good tannin structure, moderate acidity and aromas of blackcurrant, tomato leaf, dark spices and cedarwood.

Used as frequently in blends as in varietal wines, Cabernet Sauvignon has a large number of common blending partners. Apart from the obvious Merlot and Cabernet Franc, the most prevalent of these are Malbec, Petit Verdot and Carmenere (the ingredients of a classic Bordeaux Blend), Shiraz (in Australia's favorite blend) and in Spain and South America, a Cabernet – Tempranillo blend is now commonplace. Even the bold Tannat-based wines of Madiran are now generally softened with Cabernet Sauvignon

USA

American wine has been produced since the 1500s, with the first widespread production beginning in New Mexico in 1628. Today, wine production is undertaken in all fifty states, with California producing 84% of all U.S. wine. The continent of North America is home to several native species of grape, including Vitis labrusca, Vitis riparia, Vitis rotundifolia, and Vitis vulpina, but the wine-making industry is based almost entirely on the cultivation of the European Vitis vinifera, which was introduced by European settlers. With more than 1,100,000 acres (4,500 km2) under vine, the United States is the fourth-largest wine producing country in the world, after Italy, Spain, and France.

2021 vintage: "Unlike almost all other areas of the state, the Russian River Valley had higher than normal crops in 2021, which has made for a wine of greater generosity and fruit forwardness than some of its stablemates." - Morgan Twain-Peterson
