Tasted by ZARDO on 12/31/2020: NEW YEARS EVE 2020 (970 views)
Tasted by bonedoc on 10/6/2019 & rated 92 points: Fruit forward, silky, smooth, ripe, sweet. (1093 views)
Tasted by The Wine Write on 8/19/2018 & rated 92 points: Short decant, then drank over 2 nights. Going strong. Vibrant big red fruit, mouthcoating texture, and a smooth finish. Pure Paso. (1573 views)
Tasted by whitmanlholt on 8/18/2018 & rated 89 points: Popped and poured. This is a medium-red wine with ruby notes throughout and mouth-staining capacity in the glass. On the nose, I get sweet red fruit, some light mocha, and a touch of BBQ. In the mouth, the wine is full, expansive, and fleshy. The darker fruit aspects carry through to a largely sweet finish. Overall, this is heady and a bit four-square. I prefer the non-EBA version of this wine. 89 points. (1597 views)
Tasted by Quiet Lion on 11/29/2017 & rated 92 points: Deep, smooth Rhone blend with long finish of dark chocolate and charred wood. I wonder if I should have given this more air or bottle time as it didn't really sing for me although the quality was apparent. (1866 views)
Tasted by ravbik on 9/11/2017 & rated 93 points: Lush, full bodied ripe black cherries, plum, clove, pepper. (1230 views)
Tasted by danielbleier on 3/30/2017 & rated 93 points: Rich and lush, with plum and dried cherry notes - backed with white pepper and mandarin peel. Lovely (1231 views)
Tasted by philipmac on 3/9/2017 & rated 90 points: Cellared. Too tight, even after several hours of decanting. Extending start/end dates further out. (1031 views)
Tasted by mhewitt on 1/15/2017 & rated 96 points: Wow, this is really showing nicely at age 6.5. Beautiful bright aromatics with the alcohol starting to be integrated. (896 views)
Tasted by Redguy on 9/20/2016: Closed down substantially after 1.5 hrs in decanter. Saved half a bottle for night two... we'll see how that goes tonight. A waste to open now. (911 views)
Tasted by andrewdodd86 on 3/11/2016 & rated 95 points: Still tannic, raspberry central, bacon fat, cinnamon, dark chocolate, black pepper. Love it. Drinking well. (882 views)
Tasted by rustyRudy on 3/11/2016 & rated 94 points: Dark red. Bacon fat, minerals, raspberry jam on the nose. Still young and tannic, stones, raspberry and black fruits, decanted and drunk over three hours, still did not really open up. (1140 views)
Tasted by mattdathan on 6/10/2015 & rated 93 points: Oh yes, this is good! Barely getting into its stride, this has many years left in it, and it's so beautifully balanced, smooth and intense now. (1305 views)
Tasted by Backdoctor on 5/7/2015 & rated 93 points: Incredible nose. I decanted it for an hour and half and when pouring it back into the bottle the nose was just amazing. It opened up even more in the glass. Too bad it wasn't a magnum (1177 views)
Tasted by smphelps on 11/11/2014 & rated 90 points: Rich garnet. Licorice spice nose with cherry, clove tea, and cedar box. Round and full, with nice weight. Firm with a rustic bloodiness. Not particularly tannic and medium in lenght. Not to quarrel with a talented winemaker, but not particulary feminine nor reminiscent of a CdP to my taste. (1530 views)
Tasted by bonedoc on 10/7/2014: pleasure bent, thick, viscous, a little heat, but somehow does restrains itself from being completely over the top. not a lot of complexity.91-93 (1449 views)
Tasted by ledwards on 2/18/2014 & rated 89 points: Loads of sour cherry. Crushed stone. Although decent, it is lacks a bit of depth. (1897 views)
Tasted by mattdathan on 2/17/2014 & rated 94 points: Wow, an amazing alchemy of terroir, vine and climate. (1417 views)
Tasted by tantotinto on 8/26/2013 & rated 92 points: Nose of licorice and ripe fruit. Rich, sweet, smooth and delicious. A hedonistic delight for one of those nights when you do not want to overthink things but rather relax and enjoy. (1930 views)
Tasted by Montana on 7/5/2013 & rated 95 points: This is an amazingly enjoyable wine. Very deep tasting almost like candy. (1601 views)
Tasted by bonedoc on 6/18/2013 & rated 89 points: Just to be fair, this was tasted after 1996 GAja Spers and 2000 janasse CDP. It was clearly inferiorly made, and was difficult to drink in comparison. (1566 views)
Tasted by pakabear on 3/24/2013 & rated 93 points: Very smooth and silky. Good fruit, but not over the top, overall quite nice. Decanted 3 hours prior. (1537 views)
Tasted by jhieb on 3/24/2013 & rated 94 points: Decanted for 6 hours. Thick, dark juice. This is way too young, but, still fantastic. Big, heavy, complex mouth, with blackberries, chocolate, and a little spice. The tannins are fantastic. Hold for three more years. (1734 views)
Tasted by bonedoc on 2/4/2013 & rated 94 points: Jammy, sweet, figs, ripe blackberry, low acidity but no heat. A silky soft and full mouthfeel. A pleasure to drink. (1707 views)
Tasted by torcams on 12/24/2012 & rated 89 points: Nose was phenomenal but palate was a little hollow. I'll assume this needs more time in the bottle as it opened a bit during the hour it was uncorked. (1487 views)

2010 Booker Vineyard Oublie Ext

43% Syrah, 26% Mourvèdre, 16% Counoise, 15% Grenache
One of our lighter and more graceful wines, Oublie 22, brings a vibrant mix of fresh red fruits. The extended age added more depth and richness compared to the Spring Oublie bottling. Stylistically, it possesses great palate depth and finishes polished with hints of violets and mint. The Oublie 22 was aged in 80% used French oak barrels for 22 months.
Anticipated maturity: 2012-2018

Red Rhone Blend

Read about the different grapes used to produce red and white Rhone wines
On CellarTracker, Red Rhone Blend is the term for a wine consisting of two or more of the traditional 13 Southern Rhone grape varieties. Typically it's the Grenache, Syrah, Mourvedre or Cinsault grapes, but can also contain the Muscardin, Counoise, Clairette, Bourboulenc, Picpoul, Roussanne, Terret Noir, Picardan or Vaccarese grapes.

A 'food' wine. Lacking pretension and intended for local consumption with local cuisine. Lacks the 'high' notes on a Bordeaux, more earthy and sharper so often a better partner to meat dishes with a sauce.

USA

American wine has been produced since the 1500s, with the first widespread production beginning in New Mexico in 1628. Today, wine production is undertaken in all fifty states, with California producing 84% of all U.S. wine. The continent of North America is home to several native species of grape, including Vitis labrusca, Vitis riparia, Vitis rotundifolia, and Vitis vulpina, but the wine-making industry is based almost entirely on the cultivation of the European Vitis vinifera, which was introduced by European settlers. With more than 1,100,000 acres (4,500 km2) under vine, the United States is the fourth-largest wine producing country in the world, after Italy, Spain, and France.

California

2021 vintage: "Unlike almost all other areas of the state, the Russian River Valley had higher than normal crops in 2021, which has made for a wine of greater generosity and fruit forwardness than some of its stablemates." - Morgan Twain-Peterson
