Tasted by StevieW on 8/31/2023 & rated 88 points: Red with with not much age showing at the meniscus. Looks like a 4-8 year old wine.

On pop and pour to 1 hour. No decant.: On the nose plum black and red berries cocoa coffee. All follow in the mouth. med body (chalky) and finish. med tannin. med+ acidity. decent acid fruit balance. (266 views)
Tasted by brooklynJ&O on 8/26/2022 & rated 90 points: Not entirely sure what to make of this. Fruit definitely still there. As was acid. This might improve with more time and more integration. (676 views)
Tasted by EMAZurich on 11/24/2019 & rated 91 points: Schöner Fruchtdruck, tolle Säurestruktur. Trotzdem etwas „gemachter“ Eindruck, der Wein ist uweifelsohne gut aber doch etwas langweilig. (2104 views)
Tasted by syrahz on 12/28/2017 & rated 89 points: Dark, full bodied, oaky, black and red fruits, tannins seemed a bit rough. It seemed heavy handed to me. But it went well with a meaty pizza. Still some left, so perhaps a follow-up. (3287 views)
Tasted by pilatus88 on 6/10/2017 flawed bottle: Drinkable but with clear signs of oxidation. Palate ok, but nose muddy. (3745 views)
Tasted by rjfix on 12/21/2016 & rated 91 points: Tuscan blend from Montalcino, the terroir comes through.drinking well (4053 views)
Tasted by forceberry on 9/15/2016 & rated 82 points: A blend of Merlot (75%) and Sangiovese (25%).

Moderately translucent black cherry color with a slightly developed maroon hue. Somewhat developed but also very ripe, complex and modern nose with aromas of ripe plummy fruit, mulberry, allspice, some blackberry marmalade, a little bit of sweet, toasty oak and a hint of licorice. The wine is ripe, full-bodied and quite powerful on the palate with rather sweet-toned flavors of dark plummy fruit and wizened dark berries, licorice, some Maraschino cherries, a little bit of sweet, toasty oak spice, light strawberry tones, a hint of tart cranberries and an oaky touch of extracted woody bitterness. The wine is moderately high in acidity with quite ripe medium tannins - they lend some balance to the wine but the overall impression is rather soft and mellow. The finish is long, somewhat warm and quite oaky with rich and pretty complex flavors of sweet-toned dark fruits, toasty oak spice, some wizened black cherries, a little bit of cocoa, light tannic bitterness and a hint of tart cranberry.

A rather rich, soft and modern Super-Tuscan with a lot of ripe fruit and toasty oak but not really enough structure to make the wine carry itself with grace. The wine might gain some finesse and poise if it loses its baby fat with age and the oak integrates better with the fruit, but it might take quite many more years. Overall the wine is relatively sweet and soft for one from the great 2010 vintage. Not really my cup of tea - if I'm looking for a good Tuscan red, I'd go for old-school Sangiovese instead of these modern Super-Tuscan wines. (2016 views)
Tasted by forceberry on 5/18/2016 & rated 80 points: A blend of Merlot (75%) and Sangiovese (25%).

Almost completely opaque black-red color. Rich, sweet and quite modern, even almost inky nose with aromas of very ripe red forest berries, dark plums, sweet oak and dusty chocolate. Rich, full-bodied and very ripe, almost sweet on the palate with rather modest acidity, giving the wine rather soft mouthfeel. Opulent flavors of dark plums, boysenberries, ripe red berries, some chocolate oak and a hint of toffee. The tannins are moderate, ripe and gentle, giving the wine very smooth and silky mouthfeel. The finish is long and a bit warm with flavors of dark forest berries, juicy dark plums, ripe raspberries, some chocolate oak and a hint of spicy bitterness.

A very modern, polished and quite oak-heavy Tuscan red that feels quite clunky with its excessive oak and ripeness. Not really my thing. Although the wine might gain more finesse and lose some of its oak with cellaring, I doubt it'll never be a wine to win me over. Not worth its price at 34,90€. (2618 views)
Tasted by EMAZurich on 4/23/2016 & rated 89 points: Zu Beginn schokoladig, süssfruchtig... Mit etwas Luft zunehmend langweilig, breit, fad, ohne Charakter, fehlendes Säurerückgrat, es fehlt an Spannung... Gäääääähn.... (3564 views)
Tasted by ajeeja on 12/19/2015 & rated 88 points: Despite having uncorked the bottle 4h+ before dinner, this didn't show well. Too oaky and unidimensional for my taste. Not bad, but not really a bottle that would make you dream. Definitely better to pair with food. (85)

Much much better on the next night. The oak was finally integrated and the last two glasses were very enjoyable. Let it rest for 2 years or more. (88+) (3235 views)
Tasted by EMAZurich on 12/1/2015 & rated 90 points: Eher jugendliches Rubin.

(2740 views)
Tasted by pilatus88 on 4/18/2015 & rated 90 points: Even better than last tasting. Thick, juicy, full of dark fruit and backrop of leather, tobacco and some nutmeg. There is some sweetness though to consider pairing with food. (3806 views)
Tasted by S_stas on 3/19/2015 & rated 90 points: Great showing after a few hours of air. Charcoal, smokey hardwood, and rich liquorice spice. Much better than the last bottle. (3564 views)
Tasted by drdm1999 on 10/12/2014 & rated 90 points: Very good, strong taste, but can age a little more. (4282 views)
Tasted by elevwine on 9/22/2014 & rated 90 points: Red fruits balanced nicely with acidity, so pairs well with Italian foods. Tannins mellowed nicely after about an hour, providing long finish. Really entering prime about now. (3725 views)
Tasted by Hawk94 on 6/12/2014 & rated 90 points: A lovely daily drinking wine. (4483 views)
Tasted by Mameitagin on 3/29/2014 & rated 89 points: Sehr guter, temperamentvoller Merlot/Sangiovese Cuvée. Ein weiteres Zeugnis hervorragender Zweitweine italienischer (toskanischer) Spitzengüter! Jetzt sehr schön zu trinken. (4352 views)
Tasted by SonnyChiba on 3/20/2014 & rated 89 points: 89-90pts. Ripe red fruit on the nose - fully of crushed berry, blackcherry, some maple, earth. Nice mouth feel, fresh clean red and dark fruits, raspberry, pretty solid mid palate through to easy finish with slight mint and silky tannins. Drinks well now, great with Italian dishes. (4141 views)
Tasted by Bureso on 3/18/2014 & rated 86 points: 2010 er en god årgang. Fuld af saftig frugt og god finish. Dyb rød farve med aroma af friske brombær, kirsebær og antydninger cedertræ med balancerede tanniner. (3116 views)
Tasted by Robwild on 1/28/2014 & rated 86 points: Deep purple color. Nice fruit, cherries, berries and oak. Light bodied, long tannin finish. Disappointing for a Super Tuscan at this price point. (3589 views)
Tasted by Vinnut on 1/19/2014 & rated 88 points: Deep, dark reddish purple in color. Fragrant and attractive nose of ripe dark fruit aromas of cherries & blackberries with spices, floral notes of violets, some herbs, dark cocoa, coffee, olives, earthy/dusty, oaky and a touch of vanilla in the background. Full bodied with a good concentration of balanced ripe dark fruit flavors of cherries & berries with spices, earthy, some herbs, dark cocoa, minerals, oaky and a bit of vanilla. Lingering finish. Drinks quite well at present but may develop further with additional aging. (3138 views)
Tasted by markcic on 1/3/2014 & rated 88 points: We PNP'd through an aerator, dark in color, red fruit on the nose, cherry and smoke on the palate, tannins are subdued, a nice finish. (2797 views)
Tasted by Mark Brandon on 10/16/2013 & rated 89 points: Still young. But decent QPR for the style. Dard/Red fruits with a bit of minerality in a modern style. (4117 views)
Tasted by Woodbridge Brad on 9/23/2013 & rated 87 points: Dark, very ripe nose, smoke, tar, cherries. Concentrated and viscous in the mouth with oak and skin tannins, a balanced acid, and an overall impression of ripeness. long slightly tannic finish. 14.5% Overall powerful but a bit amorphous from the ripeness. (3934 views)
Tasted by thewinejuggler on 9/19/2013 & rated 88 points: A nice try for a Bordeaux blend. Was good drinkable, but I missed complexity you have on real Bordeaux.

Should be paired with food as the wine is very strong. (3724 views)

SuperTuscan Blend

SuperTuscan Blend refers to wines which feature a significant Sangiovese component combined with grapes not traditionally associated with Italy like Merlot or Cabernet Sauvignon. This separates it from "Sangiovese blend" which is used for wines which are predominantly Sangiovese and combined with traditional Italian varieties. There is often confusion as many wines most famous associated with the term "Super Tuscan" like Sassicaia, Masseto and Ornellaia have no Sangiovese and are properly linked to 'Red Bordeaux Blend.'

In fact, Super Tuscan was a term coined to refer specifically to wines such as Sassicaia and Tignanello. These were wines that "fell out" of the official DOCG classification of Italian wines because they either contained grapes not permitted (international varietals such as cabernet sauvignon or merlot,) were aged differently (I.e. in barrique) or were 100% sangiovese - which was not permitted at the time for Chianti (E.g. Fontodi Flaccianello.) Forced to be classified as simply "Vina di Tavola" these wines nontheless quickly found favour in international markets and comanded prices above the highest quality DOCG Chianti Classico & Brunello di Montalcino wines at the time. The wine industry and press began to refer to these wines as SuperTuscans because of their popularity and quality, but also because of the prices they commanded. Subsequently, the Italian authorities, under the Goria Law 1992, redrew the classifications, and included the category IGT (Indicazione Geografica Tipica) to classify the SuperTuscans.
