Tasted by leadpencil on 2/28/2024 & rated 94 points: Medium bodied. Nectarine and mineral. Great acidity. Long finish. (127 views)
Tasted by mpsocal on 9/8/2019 & rated 92 points: It was a little too buttery at first but after 30 minutes the butter flavor faded and a good amount of acid came to the forefront. Interesting Chardonnay. (1248 views)
Tasted by rustyRudy on 5/13/2019 & rated 96 points: Opened and finished the bottle. Drank with chicken dish. This is probably my favorite of the 2011's that I've tasted in the last year. Smooth, perfect subtle vanilla, but mainly pineapple lemon and mineral laden tropical fruit. Beautiful finish. (1448 views)
Tasted by rustyRudy on 5/11/2019 & rated 95 points: Single glass via Coravin, crisp, stones, lemon and tart apple with a long and clean finish. Well made! (1437 views)
Tasted by rustyRudy on 11/24/2018 & rated 96 points: Pretty yellow. Creamy and smooth, butterscotch, vanilla, butter, and finishes with apricot, lemon, ripe apple and a mouth coating finish. Mature California Chard that’s drinking marvelously well at this juncture. (1560 views)
Tasted by sfbikeguy on 10/27/2018 & rated 92 points: Excellent at usual! Our last bottle of the 2011 Chloe. Drank at a dinner party and the ladies were all subtly hoarding for themselves. The Chloe still has time if you want to hold longer. (1296 views)
Tasted by sfbikeguy on 7/4/2018 & rated 92 points: In a perfect place right now. Needs 20 min to open. Enjoy. (755 views)
Tasted by jshufelt on 5/7/2017 & rated 92 points: Consistent with previous tasting notes. (1240 views)
Tasted by Bob in NC on 12/24/2016 & rated 93 points: Chardonnays don't get much better than this. Soft lemon flavor, light butter, trace of oak and perfect acidity. (1344 views)
Tasted by galewskj on 12/16/2016 & rated 93 points: Luis Tilia WTDS plus Happy Birthday to Gary and Me (Tilia): Pop and pour, shared the bottle with 7 others. This smells like sweet tropical fruit, vanilla and a bit of spicy oak. This is golden and Californian in a good way. This is definitely fruity but I'm not sure I would call it full-bodied. There is some balance, but a 2011 Leeuwin art series chard had more elegance tonight, although I preferred this one. YMMV. (1594 views)
Tasted by lvjohn on 10/7/2016 & rated 93 points: Very well balanced with terrific flavors of tropical fruits and white fruits with a citrus bit. Very pure. Very nice nose and after taste. Very deft in the mouth-feel department. (1444 views)
Tasted by winelover1808 on 9/18/2016 & rated 92 points: a terrific wine at 5 years of age. deep golden hue. great acidity and fruit all come together in a rich, powerful manner (1267 views)
Tasted by Thief on 5/26/2016 & rated 93 points: Delicious CA chard with layers of flavors and a luscious mouth feel. Rich, without being too oaky or buttery, and good acidity to balance it out. (1161 views)
Tasted by winelover1808 on 5/1/2016 & rated 93 points: a california grand cru to me. deep golden hue, lush layers of fruit. delicious. (1020 views)
Tasted by winelover1808 on 11/14/2015 & rated 93 points: terrific high end expression of CA chard. lots of fruit, layers, but good acidity to frame it. (1274 views)
Tasted by redwiner on 10/9/2015 & rated 92 points: Beautiful, clean Chardonnay. (1258 views)
Tasted by redwiner on 6/12/2015 & rated 92 points: Excellent CA Chard. (1320 views)
Tasted by jshufelt on 3/23/2015 & rated 91 points: Consistent with previous tasting notes. (1531 views)
Tasted by sumshark on 12/29/2014 & rated 88 points: Off vintage year (1762 views)
Tasted by budh on 12/24/2014 & rated 91 points: Very similar to the Dehlinger I had recently. Lots of oak and buttery notes that mute the fruit somewhat. But after a bit, especially when it reaches room temperature, some of the pear, apple, apricot, mineral and floral notes shine through. Nice body and finish. Drinks easy, even if not my preferred style. (1233 views)
Tasted by REWindsor on 7/19/2014 & rated 92 points: Nice minerality. Spice and lemon with melon. Honey suckle. Moderate finish. (2151 views)
Tasted by dbay on 6/3/2014 & rated 90 points: Floral aroma with a grassy hint. On the palette medium bodied, buttery floral. Medium finish of almonds and pears. (1911 views)
Tasted by Schiffy on 5/23/2014 & rated 93 points: Outstanding Chardonnay with an amazing blend of apricot, lemon and pear, notes. Nice but not overwhelming hints of light butter and a finish that lingers in your mouth for almost a minute. Beautifully balanced. (1672 views)
Tasted by REWindsor on 5/15/2014 & rated 92 points: Big elegant Cali Chardonnay. Year of bottle age the acid is subtle. Long finish. Pear and apricot notes. Nitery stereotypic feel. Very nice. (1552 views)
Tasted by jaumealaska on 5/11/2014 & rated 92 points: More Montrachet than Mersault, this had great minerality and some underlying creaminess to the lemon, and vanilla notes in the body and nose, pretty well integrated and great finish. (1382 views)

Chardonnay

The Chardonnay Grape

USA

American wine has been produced since the 1500s, with the first widespread production beginning in New Mexico in 1628. Today, wine production is undertaken in all fifty states, with California producing 84% of all U.S. wine. The continent of North America is home to several native species of grape, including Vitis labrusca, Vitis riparia, Vitis rotundifolia, and Vitis vulpina, but the wine-making industry is based almost entirely on the cultivation of the European Vitis vinifera, which was introduced by European settlers. With more than 1,100,000 acres (4,500 km2) under vine, the United States is the fourth-largest wine producing country in the world, after Italy, Spain, and France.

2021 vintage: "Unlike almost all other areas of the state, the Russian River Valley had higher than normal crops in 2021, which has made for a wine of greater generosity and fruit forwardness than some of its stablemates." - Morgan Twain-Peterson
