Tasted by Burgundy Al on 3/1/2024 & rated 94 points: Some Wine Tasted at the Acker La Paulée Auction (Maybourne Hotel - Beverly Hills CA): Tasted at auction. Magnum. Quiet start, the nearly explosively good middle-to-finish. This might also be the best I can ever recall for this (inconsistent) wine. (399 views)
Tasted by Raage on 12/7/2023 & rated 92 points: (CDV)
Tasted by johnh1001 on 11/19/2023 & rated 97 points: Gorgeous nose and rich mouthfeel. Amazing mature Batard. (439 views)
Tasted by fclarity on 6/12/2022 & rated 95 points: Tasted blind, this wine had a deep yellow center and clear rims. The medium intensity nose gained with air to show minerals, lemon, apples, and some toasty oak.

In the mouth, this wine was extremely well balanced with richness, acidity, and great length.

This still seemed a bit young but it was starting to drink well. This, again, had a bit too much oak in the mouth for my taste. Those that don't mind the oak might score it a couple points higher. Drink over the next 15 years. (1339 views)
Tasted by aquacongas on 5/8/2022 & rated 97 points: blind
Very good Burgundy, but this time not that perfect I had it a few times. Brilliantly balanced but this time at his peak, I had it "younger" in the palate. Anyway worth to search for it. Thanks Micha. 97 (1482 views)
Tasted by tinybubbles on 8/26/2021 & rated 95 points: Transparent and clean bottle. Good freshness here. Gained complexity with airtime. (1598 views)
Tasted by The Vines That Bind on 8/15/2021 & rated 95 points: Another perfect bottle of this from the same cellar. Impossibly light in colour. Consistent with the August 2020 note. Extremely fresh and clean. Has that wonderful Leflaive reduction and struck match sulphur smoke above golden tropical fruit. Surprisingly youthful and so clean it’s almost in a state of arrested development. Beautiful white oak spice nicely integrated. Opulent and dense but cut with good acid. 95 - 96. (1564 views)
Tasted by tinybubbles on 8/7/2021 & rated 96 points: From 3 liter. Incredibly young in this format. Benefited somewhat from airtime, but really needed another 5+ years on bottle. Good mouthfeel to this wine, and the ripe fruit is nicely balanced by mineral notes when it shows this young. (1462 views)
 Tasted by aquacongas on 7/26/2021 & rated 98 points: semiblind, 95,96, 97
WOTH, guessed 96, close to his peak but I had this wine twice even better. 98 (1099 views)
Tasted by sdr on 6/5/2021 & rated 93 points: The weight and power of this wine are pure Bâtard-Montrachet and the elegance is Domaine Leflaive. From a perfectly preserved collection, it displays a medium gold color. Just a hint of butterscotch to the agrume flavors and not a hint of oxidation. Still, it flattens out with air and time and was at its best the first fifteen minutes. Should we expect more from any white Burgundy at the quarter-century mark? (1071 views)
Tasted by aquacongas on 5/24/2021 & rated 100 points: blind
I got goosebumps from the beginning. The nose is beautiful and seductive. Some discreet popcorn but not too much and not overwhelming roasted nuts or honey. The elegance is out of the world but the concentration is perfect. Precise and filigree likewise. I had this wine once before and after the Chevalier 1996 it felt weaker but this was perfection. Fell in love. I guessed 1996 but had no idea of the house. 100 (1349 views)
Tasted by kr522 on 10/31/2020: In my experience this is a Consistently stunning wine....almost painfully intense flavors and fruit that cut a broad swatch across the palate. Deep and lingering. The matchstick nose faded a little after 2+ hours but the energetic flavors sustained a peak level throughout (97-98) (976 views)
Tasted by tinybubbles on 9/30/2020 & rated 94 points: Pungent nose, deep citrus notes on the tangy palate. Still vibrant acid. Continued to open over the course of one hour. 94-95 (1051 views)
Tasted by tinybubbles on 9/14/2020 & rated 95 points: Great bottle with a still forceful palate and well articulated flavors. (1110 views)
Tasted by The Vines That Bind on 8/9/2020 & rated 95 points: Perfect bottle, fresh and clean, light golden colour, super lucky. Great reductive nose with plenty of the classic struck match and smoke ahead of pineapple and citrus fruit. Lemon / lime at the beginning then more of a coconut cream sort of direction. Excellent spices too. Richer and deeper flavours than the very good 2002 yesterday. Finish is precise with pleasant acid. Best example of this in a long time. 94 - 96. (1239 views)
Tasted by Burgundy Al on 3/5/2020 flawed bottle: Zachys La Paulée "Warm-up" Dinner (Lafayette - New York NY): DOA (2027 views)
Tasted by Burgnick on 1/14/2020 & rated 96 points: Ficofi Paulee- Super flinty in the nose with that signature sesame and matchstick. Palate was both elegant and powerful with lovely acidity at the backdrop. Excellent precision. (1589 views)
Tasted by kr522 on 1/13/2020 & rated 97 points: Very similar to last time, yet bottle from a different source (my own cellar)...this is the best Batard I’ve had. The nose is pristine, and rates 100 points, it’s pure Chardonnay perfection and power. It explodes from the glass and over 3 hours never lets up. The flavors tilt towards crisp, lean, saline/oyster shell. For the first 90 minutes the finish felt like a sip of ocean water, and as it warmed/aired it got rounder....the last sip the best. If you prefer austerity/salinity to dominate, you could even add 1-2 points (1073 views)
Tasted by The Vines That Bind on 12/22/2019 flawed bottle: Faint cork. Too bad as colour was excellent and you could still get a sense of the concentration and development. Frustratingly ironic as the risk here was surely oxidization and this was looking great... (1354 views)
Tasted by kr522 on 12/12/2019 & rated 97 points: Sensational bottle, laser focused, power and depth....great bouquet with follow through on palate. Feels like it will keep another 10+ years (1052 views)
Tasted by sdr on 11/21/2019 & rated 94 points: Old White Burgundy at Wine Watch (Ft. Lauderdale, Florida): This bottle was served last in this remarkable tasting of old white Burgundy, meant to be the highlight. It was. Clean. Good to excellent intensity, concentration and complexity. Gained weight in the glass. Purchased on release by the owner and stored perfectly. It demonstrates beautifully what we are missing now that we can no longer afford to give our white Burgundies a good long sleep. So sad. (1184 views)
Tasted by tinybubbles on 8/31/2019 & rated 95 points: Big and full, this bottle had great energy across the palate and near perfect focus on the finish. Not a subtle wine when this fresh, but very good. (1034 views)
Tasted by Alex G. on 8/31/2019: This bottle was absolutely pristine, the aromas were 10 out of 10 intensity. Palate was rich and very very complex, like drinking a great Montrachet where one must pay constant attention to get every changing nuance. Ah, the good old days of Leflaive. (992 views)
Tasted by pclin on 7/11/2019: Showing great today, one of the best wines at today’s lunch. (1148 views)
Tasted by dcwino on 4/28/2019 & rated 98 points: 1996 Burgundy Retrospective - The Second Session (Eddie V's - Tysons Corner, VA): The fill is a bit low which is worrisome. Beautiful pale color and the nose reflects it. Absolutely gorgeous perfectly mature white Burgundy nose displaying perfectly ripe yellow fruit, pineapple, lemon curd, a hint of pear, flint, smoke, sesame, oyster shell and wet stone. Beautifully integrated palate, very finely layered subtle yellow fruit, perfect precision, exceptional freshness, incredibly energy, bright acidity, strong wet stone mineral and a long yellow citrus driven finish with flint and sesame at the end. Despite the low fill, this bottle remains incredibly youthful. I typically prefer the Chevalier but not today. (1820 views)

Burgundy-Report (7/1/2005)
(Leflaive Bâtard-Montrachet) Medium yellow colour. Heavy musky nose, a little cream and still plenty of oak. There's gorgeous acidity and a very impressive length. Beautiful texture - lovely. Concentration without weight - gorgeous and very young.

Burgundy

Les vins de Bourgogne (Bureau interprofessionnel des vins de Bourgogne) (and in English)

Burgundy - The province of eastern France, famous for its red wines produced from Pinot Noir and its whites produced from Chardonnay. (Small of amounts of Gamay and Aligoté are still grown, although these have to be labeled differently.) The most famous part of the region is known as the Cote d'Or (the Golden Slope). It is divided into the Cote de Beaune, south of the town of Beaune (famous principally for its whites), and the Cote de Nuits, North of Beaune (home of the most famous reds). In addition, the Cote Chalonnaise and the Maconnais are important wine growing regions, although historically a clear level (or more) below the Cote d'Or. Also included by some are the regions of Chablis and Auxerrois, farther north.

# 2013 Vintage Notes:
* "2013 is a vintage that 20 years ago would have been a disaster." - Will Lyons
* "low yields and highly variable reds, much better whites." - Bill Nanson
* "Virtually all wines were chaptalised, with a bit of sugar added before fermentation to increase the final alcohol level." - Jancis Robinson

# 2014 Vintage Notes:
"We have not had such splendid harvest weather for many years. This will ensure high quality (fragrant, classy and succulent are words already being used) across the board, up and down the hierarchy and well as consistently from south to north geographically apart from those vineyards ravaged by the hail at the end of June." - Clive Coates

# 2015 Vintage Notes:
"Low yields and warm weather allowed for ample ripeness, small berries and an early harvest. Quality is looking extremely fine, with some people whispering comparisons with the outstanding 2005 vintage. Acid levels in individual wines may be crucial." - Jancis Robinson

# 2017 Vintage Notes:
"Chablis suffered greatly from frost in 2017, resulting in very reduced volumes. As ever, the irony seems to be that what remains is very good quality, as it is in the Côte d’Or. Cooler nights across the region have resulted in higher-than-usual acidity, with good conditions throughout the harvest season allowing for ripe, healthy fruit." - Jancis Robinson

# 2018 Vintage Notes:
"The most successful region for red Burgundy in 2018 was the Côte de Beaune. The weather was ideal in this area, with just enough sunlight and rain to produce perfectly balanced wines naturally." - Vinfolio
