Big and rich aromas show a fruit ladden nose with a baked plum, blackberry compote and fig preserves that shows notes of black licorice, imperial stout, dark chocolate and vanilla with hints of sarsaparilla, herbs and chaparral that show the heat of the high ABV.
Massive and dense on the palate. The tannins are ripe and smooth, almost easy, while the acidity remains moderate. Flavors of fig and black licorice mix with blackberry jam, plum, sage, vanilla, chocolate, espresso and barrel aged stout. The finish lingers with density.

The differences were drastic. This was an overextracted fruit bomb with all the subtlety and nuance of an AC/DC concert. The fruit was good and there was plenty of it, but there was little acid to temper the fruit, and it felt unbalanced compared to the Spanna. If you like big new world fruit driven wines, you should love this. I enjoyed it too, but it was definitely heavy handed.
