Tasted by BArice on 12/2/2023 & rated 85 points: This is past its prime. Still tannins, but thin and lacking much body to the flavor. Short finish, wish I had opened several years ago. (129 views)
Tasted by Dkiraly1@gmail.com on 12/22/2022 & rated 88 points: Fruity and balanced wine...I think there are better ones at this price point (411 views)
Tasted by gediminasbielskus on 5/8/2022 & rated 84 points: My bottle seemed to be tired. Tight acidity on the palate that didn't open up over 3 hours and a lack of finesse or style that would usually come with age for a magnum. I would drink it a few years ago and maybe it would have been a bit better, but hard to tell. (723 views)
Tasted by Barry'sFault on 12/25/2020 & rated 91 points: Love it. Had it w filet mignons Christmas Eve.
Subtle, refined Napa beauty. Worth it. (1445 views)
Tasted by ksueroy on 11/22/2020: Enjoyed this. Nice subtle cab for a beef meal - (1448 views)
Tasted by 52winelover on 11/14/2020 & rated 88 points: Rounding out nicely. (1373 views)
Tasted by ken@ampy.com on 4/21/2019 & rated 90 points: The wine is probably well within it's drinking window. Not a deeply expressive wine nor is it terribly complex. That said it has no obvious faults either. Went well with a Rare Tri-tip and Jumbo Shrimp done of the BBQ.
More of a Mid-week wine than a Saturday Night Dinner with Friends wine. Star of the show was a 2008 Ruston Family La Maestra Cabrnet-Yummy (1983 views)
Tasted by ken@ampy.com on 4/30/2018 & rated 91 points: A pleasant surprise. Drank at Volare in San Diego along side a Havens 2011 Meritage, Both were very pleasant with the Meritage winning but not by a lot. Nice depth and Character for the Siverado, medium long finish. No hurry to drink up, probably has another 4-5 years left. (2457 views)
Tasted by bigdog#9 on 4/1/2018 & rated 80 points: Terrible. Ended up dumping (1822 views)
Tasted by cjsadler on 2/13/2018 & rated 87 points: Really has not improved. Just not a good vintage. (1919 views)
Tasted by Coachron13 on 11/28/2016: Terrible. Very green, tons of oak, with a bite to it. Recorked and waited a couple days hoping for improvement, it got even worse, so we dumped it. This is why we quit their wine club. (5201 views)
Tasted by Chemming on 9/19/2016 & rated 89 points: Gift. Probably drank 3-5 years earlier than we should have. Decanted, which helped. Lovely wine, with well rounded fruit and tannins. (4864 views)
Tasted by SonzTwin on 6/28/2016 & rated 89 points: Ordered this at a Disney restaurant, mistaking it for a Silver OAKS (Wow - I'm sure it's "just" the Alexander Valley one, even though it says "Napa", but still, what great value!) It was $88. Even when they brought the wine, it took a few minutes for me to realize what I'd done, but it's too late to turn back at that point :-) Very pleasant nose, with moderate fruity complexity, but as with most N.A. "cabs", not very tannic at all. 2011 was the last of the 3 'down' years for Californian wines, and the low alcohol gives a hint as to how much they had to struggle with it (13.6%). It opened up a little more after some air. I waffled between 89 and 90. Nice little wine, not worth $40 retail - so while I liked it, I didn't like it at that price point. (4738 views)
Tasted by cjsadler on 6/25/2016 & rated 88 points: Very green and vegetal. Perhaps will get better with age, but just seems like an off vintage here. (4631 views)
Tasted by darren81 on 4/25/2016: 8/10 - Very serviceable. Textbook american cab. Good for drinking now. (5135 views)
Tasted by rjonwine@gmail.com on 4/22/2016 & rated 90 points: Very dark ruby color; savory, menthol, red currant, tart plum, coffee, cedar nose; tasty, tight, savory, tart currant, coffee, cedar palate with medium acidity; needs 2 years; medium-plus finish (13.6% alcohol) 90+ points (416 views)
Tasted by CabIPA on 3/31/2016 & rated 90 points: Pretty good for a 2011 Napa Cab. A little tight...will benefit from some time in the cellar. (918 views)
Tasted by Andy Clayman on 3/18/2016 & rated 90 points: we really liked the silverado and if it can be bought at $29 is a good value. it benefited a lot from being open. at first had an almost sweet taste which thankfully dissipated. (1372 views)
Tasted by Life At Your Leisure 🍷 on 12/26/2015 & rated 90 points: Opaque purple color turning violet at the rim with a transparent edge. The nose shows good complexity but highlights nuances of earth, leather, and herbal character over ripeness of fruit, albeit still very evident. The palate is full-bodied with a velvety texture featuring flavors of dark cherry, licorice, tobacco, espresso, anise, and cola. The mid palate takes a dive but slides through a decent finish with smooth, refined spicy tannin. Drink now with a 30-minute decant until 2021. (2778 views)
Tasted by SC OLY on 12/19/2015 & rated 90 points: I enjoyed this cab. The fruit was up front, and the tannins weren't significant. A really enjoyable cab to drink. Nice finish. (2684 views)
Tasted by madrigae on 11/3/2015 & rated 92 points: A classically styled Cabernet from a cool and wet vintage. I actually prefer this nuanced, rich effort to the 2010. It showcases more fragrant earth and herbal notes on a bed of pretty fruit. The finish is plush and lengthy. (2764 views)
Tasted by kobechrome on 7/27/2015 & rated 90 points: Smooth, complex finish (1243 views)
Tasted by rossi.wine on 6/11/2015 & rated 87 points: Green bell peppers, vegetal notes as well as dark fruit, smoke and notes of undergrowth on the nose. A bit green and lean, quite firm, drying, grippy. 86-88 (3045 views)
Tasted by SaraAndMark on 2/17/2014: From Silverado Wine Club: Dark rich fruits, black cherry, blackberry and plum aromas. Full rich mid-palate with broad tannins and a medium to long finish. (Harvest 2011 - Bottled in August 2013) (3716 views)

Cabernet Sauvignon

Cabernet Sauvignon is probably the most famous red wine grape variety on Earth. It is rivaled in this regard only by its Bordeaux stablemate Merlot, and its opposite number in Burgundy, Pinot Noir. From its origins in Bordeaux, Cabernet has successfully spread to almost every winegrowing country in the world. It is now the key grape variety in many first-rate New World wine regions, most notably Napa Valley, Coonawarra and Maipo Valley. Wherever they come from, Cabernet Sauvignon wines always seem to demonstrate a handful of common character traits: deep color, good tannin structure, moderate acidity and aromas of blackcurrant, tomato leaf, dark spices and cedarwood.

Used as frequently in blends as in varietal wines, Cabernet Sauvignon has a large number of common blending partners. Apart from the obvious Merlot and Cabernet Franc, the most prevalent of these are Malbec, Petit Verdot and Carmenere (the ingredients of a classic Bordeaux Blend), Shiraz (in Australia's favorite blend) and in Spain and South America, a Cabernet – Tempranillo blend is now commonplace. Even the bold Tannat-based wines of Madiran are now generally softened with Cabernet Sauvignon

USA

American wine has been produced since the 1500s, with the first widespread production beginning in New Mexico in 1628. Today, wine production is undertaken in all fifty states, with California producing 84% of all U.S. wine. The continent of North America is home to several native species of grape, including Vitis labrusca, Vitis riparia, Vitis rotundifolia, and Vitis vulpina, but the wine-making industry is based almost entirely on the cultivation of the European Vitis vinifera, which was introduced by European settlers. With more than 1,100,000 acres (4,500 km2) under vine, the United States is the fourth-largest wine producing country in the world, after Italy, Spain, and France.

2021 vintage: "Unlike almost all other areas of the state, the Russian River Valley had higher than normal crops in 2021, which has made for a wine of greater generosity and fruit forwardness than some of its stablemates." - Morgan Twain-Peterson
