Tasted by PimpDaddy2Kool on 12/16/2023 & rated 91 points: Drink now it's not going to improve (357 views)
Tasted by Guido L. on 12/2/2023 & rated 93 points: Very nice wine and absolutely ready to drink now. Fresh and full of fruit. Red cherry, red currant, cassis, blackberry. Pencil shavings and cedar. Well integrated tannins make this a smooth wine. However, the 15.5% alcohol are not neglectable. The wine will keep this level for another 5 years. (375 views)
Tasted by NTR on 10/29/2023 & rated 93 points: Beautifully tempered. Tannins are no where to be seen. Smooth and velvety and good fruit. Tobacco and graphite nose. Well rounded mouthfeel and lovely taste. Ready to go if you have any left….. (458 views)
Tasted by IndyTom on 3/10/2023 & rated 92 points: Still a huge wine with lots of dark fruit. With 19 years in the bottle, it is much more refined than it was in its youth. Fine with food. (932 views)
Tasted by FransS on 10/2/2022 & rated 94 points: A remarkable wine', the CS (30%) keeps the wine quite tight in a kind of embracement and in there the Syrah lifts the wine with still fresh and concentrated fruit, a firm, ripe and smooth taste, lively, and a quite long aftertaste, even a bit hefty, as of everything comes together there. (1342 views)
Tasted by Senso-beak on 8/18/2022 & rated 95 points: Opened and poured after a couple days out of the cellar to warm up. For our 23 year anny of meeting at Dominick's. Wow, what a fruit bomb. Hedonistic, humid rain forest of concentrated blackberry. Some licorice now, with black cherry, velveteen tannins. Exceptional fruit at this stage, with secondary notes just starting to come out. Massive body, smooth, big, voluptuous. A monster still. This is a tour de force aussie blockbuster. Superb. (1129 views)
Tasted by Rezy13 on 8/5/2022: Friday Double Blind Tasting $60+ (Bin 75 Alpharetta, GA): Cloudy opaque core with chocolate brick rim, lots of sediment; soy, aged, baked fruit, black fruit, raspberries, blueberries, sappy, prune, figs, savory and rich, caramel. (1289 views)
Tasted by VlgJeff on 12/19/2020 & rated 92 points: Decanted for 45 minutes based on my previous TNs to allow the wine to open, and to separate some sediment (the cork did not break!).
Some dark fruits on the nose. The medium to plus bodied palate gave up lots of dark red fruit, a bit of blue fruit, some spice, earth and pepper. The acidity was very juicy and the tannins were nicely integrated.
Similar to our previous bottles, but with a bit less fruit and a bit more acid, which I believe is an indication of age, so drink up soon for maximum enjoyment. (2737 views)
Tasted by rocknroller on 10/7/2020 & rated 92 points: Enjoying a Fall Day (Home): Verey dark red/purple color. Slow O'd for 3 hours. Fairly deep fruited, balckberry, dark berries, high toned graphite, slightly perfumed with a little violet, and a hint of menthol. The palate is layered, glycercin, deep dark fruits, earthy, minerals and a peppery finish. 92+pts. (2870 views)
Tasted by FransS on 8/16/2020 & rated 93 points: A nice lunch at home with friends (Haarlem): A friendly silky giant, silky, while everything is smooth and juicy, but there is also a firm and ripe Syrah backbone with still fresh fruit and sufficient acidity; lovely stuff with a long aftertaste, (2368 views)
Tasted by corkscrews on 8/16/2020 & rated 91 points: A nose of dark fruits, spices, dark black purple in color. A smooth, full bodied blend, with blackberry, cassis, licorice, an elegant and delicious wine, a bit past it’s peak, drink now. www.winelx.com (2172 views)
Tasted by VlgJeff on 5/2/2020 & rated 92 points: The cork broke (yes, again) and there was some sediment, so a decant is called for. Decanted for 40 minutes, but could have used 20-30 minutes more.
Immediately after decanting: lots of funk and charcoal on the nose. On the palate -some red fruit and earth, along with way too much acidity.
After 40+ minutes in the decanter: The medium to plus bodied palate gave up lots of dark red fruit, some blue and black fruit, lots of spice and some earth and pepper. The acidity was very juicy and the tannins were nicely integrated.
Similar to our previous bottle a bit over a year ago (3/9/19), but with a touch more acidity. Again, this could be an indication of age, so drink up. (2530 views)
Tasted by champ12oh on 3/19/2020 & rated 89 points: It wasn't amazing. Good but not amazing. Upon open it smelled over the hill. 3 hrs in it smells like red licorice and old wood. Not bad. Its silky ish . Red fruit, black fruit, fig, walnut, some fruit, some acid but not amazing. This probably crushed in 2016.

Corona liquidation. Drink em if you got em. (1464 views)
Tasted by ChrisR on 2/8/2020: Delicious. Big-boned blackberry and licorice, with a slight green and light vanilla which faded with air. Well-structured with acid and tannin. Showing more shiraz than cab. Better on the second day. (1447 views)
Tasted by deverett on 2/6/2020 & rated 92 points: This is going great guns at the moment, still showing a core of ripe fruit but has lovely structure, length and balance. Isn’t showing any signs of falling over at this stage either. Still has those plummy shiraz notes backed by the firmness of the Cabernet, some black olives and cloves in the mix, seasoned oak in there as well. Not super complex but very tasty. (1469 views)
Tasted by Gwsmith65 on 1/19/2020: Past its prime, poured down the drain (1408 views)
Tasted by galewskj on 10/19/2019 & rated 92 points: Bllind Syrah (John's house): Splash decanted and served blind. Very perfumed and pretty. There was a great balance of the wine being friendly and also big. I guessed Two Hands Samantha's Garden - wrong. 92-93 (1692 views)
Tasted by rocknroller on 10/18/2019 & rated 93 points: Blind Syrah From Anywhere (John's House, Mpls, MN): Very dark red color. PNP, drank a glass single blind over 3 hours. More fruit here, great texture, well balanced, mountain wild berries, earthy forest floor, full bodied, black cherry, spices and wood notes. Picked this as the Godolphin from the start. The prettiest of all the wines on the group. Have I mentioned how much I like Glaetzer's wines? They just seem to age so gracefully. My and group WOTA. 92+ to 93pts. (1870 views)
Tasted by 3daywinereview.com on 10/18/2019 & rated 92 points: Worldwide Blind Syrah Tasting (3 Day Wine Review World Headquarters, Minneapolis, MN): Love the 2004 vintage around the world! Spice, White pepper, blueberries, earth and floral notes. 15 points total and wine of the day. I have to say this wine evolved late in the day. Drink now to 2022. Well done Gary as I sent him home with a bottle of the Sleight of Hand Levitation as the wine of the day. Wine of the day! (1511 views)
Tasted by JSOL on 10/12/2019 & rated 99 points: Almost perfect and, on this bottle, still with years to go. This wine has provided such joy over the years. It has gone from having a knockout room-filling perfume to a far more balanced and charming palate-based impression but has at all times had poise and elegance. One of the best wines I have ever had. (1453 views)
Tasted by jkoenen on 9/23/2019 & rated 90 points: Showing more primary fruitnotes than expected.
Hardly any secondaries yet and the flavor profile comes across as slightly ocnfectionary...
Puzzling...
My last bottle (3 years ago...) showed more evolution and therefore better balance. (1354 views)
Tasted by rmcnees on 9/9/2019 & rated 92 points: While we love large fruit forward robust Assie Shiraz, Linda actually didn't think much of this wine. The first evening upon opening, it presented a slight bit of a sharp edge that Parker called crushed rocks and minerals that detracted from the fruit flavors. After setting it aside for two nights, the edge had dissipated and the fruits were more predominate albeit subdued.

Dark blackish inky purple color, full bodied, complex, the moderately sweet black currant and black raspberry fruits were moderate, balanced and nicely integrated, accented by notes of earth and black tea with hints of white pepper, cassis and oak on a slightly sharp tangy lingering finish.

Tasted by davidandrose on 9/7/2019 & rated 91 points: Final bottle, cork snapped so the wine had to be decanted, giving this well-aged wine more air than it needed. Still very good but obviously a bit past its peak; well aged fruit, smoke, earth and a hint of stewed prune. The 2005 Montelena that accompanied our entrées was in better form. (1193 views)
Tasted by rayq on 6/30/2019 & rated 92 points: Deep purple colour. Cork was hardly stained. Big wine for sure but you don't open it expecting anything else. An excellent example of the style. The abv is 15.5 but there's no way you would know. I have experienced more 'spirity' flavours on wines (supposedly) lower than this. There's still some rich fruit (maybe a tad too sweet) it's a big but balanced drop. I liked this much more than I expected to.
Just like some C9 there are moments when only a wine like this really hits the spot. (1354 views)
Tasted by wabi47 on 6/24/2019: ABV15.5; great nose; lovely texture, with a nice mocha component. Some complexity. Still has good mature fruit, but now i get a bit more heat on the finish. I liked this better a few years ago--probably time to drink up (1270 views)

Cabernet-Shiraz Blend

A very popular blend in Australia-particularly from South Australia, where the two varietals work well together. The most famous of these would be the Penfolds Bin 389, considered Australia's most cellared wine. In years gone by this was referred to as "Baby Grange" as some of the wine used barrels from the vintage of Grange.

The 2018 Paternus states only McLaren Vale Shiraz (no Cab Sav).

Godolphin

The Godolphin has been succeeded by the Anaperenna starting with the 2006 vintage.
