Tasted by Thoughtful on 3/18/2024 & rated 92 points: Stored in a cold cellar since release. Cork broke but no leakage. Subdued bouquet. Light good balance with just about sufficient length. Clearly not a great vintage. No spirit showing through. Drink very soon. (493 views)
Tasted by Needtobreathe on 3/14/2024 & rated 92 points: Opened with port tongs and decanted 4 hours before first drinking. Good at that time but improved much with further breathing. Best sip was the last, a week after opening.
Taste is superb, the best thing about this wine. Mouth feel is a bit thin. Not tremendously complex, but has an elegant balance of fruit, sweetness (on the low side), and aged-port character. (340 views)
Tasted by SpenceP on 2/28/2024 flawed bottle: A subtly tainted cork--the sort where you suspect cork taint from the start, but keep hoping you're wrong and that the wine will improve with more air. Eventually you're forced to admit to yourself that you were right from the start, even though you didn't want to be. Alas. Then down the sink. (589 views)
Tasted by Colowine on 2/25/2024: From a 750, showing well and drinking surprisingly young - not ultra complex for the age though (584 views)
Tasted by NoahCap on 2/18/2024: Even though this is from a 375mL, my bottle seems to be drinking younger than other descriptions here. Color is pale, but not browning. Nose is surprisingly fresh Christmas cake, red prunes, cranberry sauce, cherry syrup, loganberry preserves, cinnamon, cloves. Very nice. The body is quite in the mouth and tannins are pretty much gone (this speaks to age perhaps). But the flavors are quite fruity, almost like a fruit punch, with some baking spices thrown in. The whole thing finishes quite sweet with some alcohol hotness that I could do without. The wine is very pleasant, but not quite the complexity that I would have hoped for with 40 yrs of age.  Tasted by Barks on 1/6/2024 & rated 93 points: Delicious port. This is one of the last few bottles from a case purchased a while ago. Certainly softening, and a soft amber rim. Decanted late afternoon and we drank that evening. Drank beautifully. We didn’t finish the decanter and when I went back to try a glass a couple of days later it had turned slightly stewed. Our error for not ploughing on and finishing it all that evening. We won’t make that mistake again!!! (823 views)
Tasted by Harley1199 on 11/30/2023: Just a few drops. Tasted separately during a whole week. Don't expect too much sweetness here. On the contrary, surprisingly a dry finish is offered. Austere in style, balance as ever but far from what I was waiting for a mature Dow's.

Solo unas gotas. Catado por separado durante una semana entera evitando la correspondiente fatiga. No esperemos demasiada dulzura aquí. Por el contrario, sorprendentemente ofrece un final seco. Estilo austero, equilibrio como siempre pero lejos de lo que estaba esperando en un Dow’s maduro. (1191 views)
Tasted by canan on 11/29/2023 & rated 90 points: Small x3 Vintage Port Tasting: Almost nothing aromas on the nose. The flavor has a tiny touch of plum fruit combined with a little leather, mushrooms and butterscotch.
Overall, the palate is watery and it is one of the ports where the alcohol dominates a lot due to the muted flavors. Quite disappointing performance and there was nothing wrong with the bottle. (985 views)
Tasted by theportguy on 11/18/2023 & rated 92 points: FTLOP 18th Anniversary; 11/17/2023-11/19/2023 (Seattle, Washington): Unique aroma reminiscent of bread pudding on the nose. Its dark amber color reveals notes of chocolate and dark cherry. Swirling the wine brings up some funky vegetative notes. Nice structure on the palate, with a delightful combination of dark fruit, chocolate, and well-integrated tannins. Good long finish. (675 views)
Tasted by remyworldpeace on 7/5/2023 & rated 92 points: Spicy! Figs, prune, plums, some cherries and stewed berries. Almond, smoked nuts and dark spices. (1619 views)
Tasted by scottesterly on 2/18/2023 & rated 90 points: Decanted 5+ hours. Very good wine, not as dynamic as the 83 Graham’s I tasted it against (1993 views)
Tasted by englishman's claret on 12/26/2022 & rated 93 points: Just lovely - complex, complete, soft, showing sweet figs, red plums, grilled nuts, and leather. A nice weight and the heat is well integrated. Even if there are no fireworks, this is complete and drinking so well now. (3322 views)
Tasted by PDavisMarble on 12/19/2022 & rated 93 points: Pretty caramel-red. Cascading, round candied fruit. As it continued to open, the fruit mellowed, while a nuttiness emerged, and then a finish of baking spices. A lovely way to end the meal — thank you EC! (2026 views)
Tasted by cweiss on 11/1/2022: From 375. Eastman. Fully ready. Light color appropriate to age. Only mildly sweet appropriate to age and producer. Quite lovely with alcohol totally in control. Drink or hold. (2431 views)
Tasted by englishman's claret on 10/8/2022: I didn't have time to focus on this, but it more than met expectations with still-beautiful fruit and a mellow nuttiness indicative of full maturity. Lovely. (3017 views)
Tasted by Heywood_ja on 5/20/2022 & rated 89 points: Surprisingly pale. I was nervous as it came out of the Coravin. Taste is definitely on the tawny side, very nice, dry with less fruit than others seem to report. Very nice, but I may have waited too long. Bootle was purchased and stored properly since late 90s. (2295 views)
Tasted by dbkitc on 12/24/2021 & rated 94 points: A top bottle of this wine. Ruby red color to a clear ruby rim. Tobacco, anis, glue and dried fruit. Resolved palate that is sweet, lively and deep. Some tobacco on the finish but fruit is the prominent flavor. Exotic and fun. Long. (94) (2699 views)
Tasted by red_man on 12/28/2020 & rated 91 points: three strikes and out? - the third bottle opened this evening, the other two really badly corked and totally undrinkable, fortunately this bottle was back on par, review now edited after my palate, nose and mood have recovered from the assault of the off bottles, fine spirity, elegant nose, palate relatively light and elegant, a lighter finer elegant style of vintage, very good when not spoiled, now my last bottle but if you have bottles in the cellar I would drink up - and expect some disappointments (finished remnant 2 glasses next evening, now really very good, probably even improved with time since opened, classy and fine, upped the rating a point) (4053 views)
Tasted by red_man on 12/28/2020 flawed bottle: another badly corked bottle (3496 views)
Tasted by red_man on 12/28/2020 flawed bottle: really badly corked, ugly textbook example of how bad the character can be, what happened with the quality of Portuguese natural cork here? Maybe time for Vintage Port under Stelvin? Why not? (3419 views)
Tasted by Tim Heaton on 7/19/2020: Wow, whaddaya know, a vintage Port that's ready to drink. Snarkiness aside, this wine, which had been double decanted for sediment a few hours prior to service, was showing in fine, graceful form, with a seamless blend of secondary, and even some early tertiary. Medium>Med+ body, with plenty of fresh acidity. Again, even if this can still go some more, it's elegant as hell now, and not showing the grape-y, raisin-y, sweet stuff, so I say dig in. recommended (4521 views)
Tasted by Derek Darth Taster on 7/10/2020 & rated 93 points: Election day party at Chateau Davyd. Pop and poured. Drank in Gabriel Standart.
Appearance deep intensity, garnet colour. Long legs.
Nose medium+ intensity, with aromas of mushrooms, earth, tea leaves, ash, smoky lapsang suchong, oxidative elements. Developed.
On the palate, medium sweet, high acidity, high alcohol (20%), fine fully integrated tannins, full body. Pronounced flavour intensity, with flavours of mushroomy earth, smoke, tea leaves, dried red cherries. Long finish.
I like it. Biased for mushrooms. Oxidative elements present already so not for further ageing for sure. Drink and enjoy. (3346 views)
Tasted by vagrantone on 4/8/2020 & rated 92 points: Cork in fairly good condition for once.
Decanted carefullt; fairly well settled.
The alcohol was a little too present the same evening as often seems to be the case.
The following day, the 83 Dow should very well: fairly light hue but no undue aged aspect, substantial fruit still both on nose and palate. The wine was starting to develop more tertiary notes.
While this may not be a top tier vintage Port, I believe that it's drinking at its peak right now. (2592 views)
Tasted by rjpbath on 12/9/2019 & rated 91 points: I have not really enjoyed other bottles from this case, but this was glorious. As said below, tastes of strawberries (and cinnamon) and quite pale. Intriguing and very tasty indeed. Fairly psychoactive though: VERY intense dreams afterwards...(and no cheese eaten)! (3242 views)
Tasted by isaacjamesbaker on 8/21/2019 flawed bottle: Soaked cork. Tired, oxidized. Damn. (3922 views)
