Community Tasting Notes (average 89 pts. and median of 89 pts. in 9 notes) - hiding notes with no text

Tasted by MikeATL on 4/8/2020 & rated 90 points: A very satisfying bistro red, with blackberry fruit, a touch of herbs, and a pleasantly tart and slightly tannic finish that makes it a great match for food and just plain fun. (551 views)
Tasted by Eric.S on 12/5/2016 & rated 89 points: Screaming QPR. All smoky Syrah on the nose plus some candied cherry, then the first sip shows juicy red fruit, red starburst, and grapefruit. Great freshness and acidity. A bit lacking mid palate, but you can't have it all at this price point. Easy re-buy. (1002 views)
Tasted by zinfomaniac on 9/8/2016 & rated 88 points: Just enough acidity to keep the fruit lively. (1041 views)
Tasted by Omar Khayyam on 4/30/2016 & rated 91 points: Great perfume, sweet ripe red bright fruit and a tangy blood orange freshness to it that makes this drink very easily. But it has structure and does not veer off into forward oaky territory - definitely an elegant wine. Recommended! (1304 views)
Tasted by glou.sf on 2/7/2016 & rated 89 points: Nice QPR. Dried cherries and red fruit on the nose. Medium tannins with hints of orange zest. Great food wine. (1176 views)
Tasted by A_Fiori87 on 12/5/2015 & rated 88 points: Light and delicate. More old world in style than new. Dried cherry and red apple skin notes. (956 views)
Tasted by wineshlub on 10/28/2015 & rated 91 points: Opened one hour in advance. Sharp cherry aroma with a bit of dill pickle. Smooth flavors of red fruit with a citric bite. Lingering cranberry finish. It's quirky and funky, but nonetheless has attractive flavors, is balanced, and has a smooth delivery. Forward, a bit of complexity, I don't know that this will hold together over the long term, but it's excellent (and a lot of fun) right now. (701 views)
Tasted by THECORKDORK on 10/5/2015 & rated 86 points: Solid. juicy, meaty and simple. Not complex but very drinkable and enjoyable. (678 views)
Tasted by Lowridenn on 7/13/2015 & rated 89 points: Tannic and youthful upon opening. Rounds out and softens with air. Bright red fruits, tartness. Quite delicious. (711 views)

USA

American wine has been produced since the 1500s, with the first widespread production beginning in New Mexico in 1628. Today, wine production is undertaken in all fifty states, with California producing 84% of all U.S. wine. The continent of North America is home to several native species of grape, including Vitis labrusca, Vitis riparia, Vitis rotundifolia, and Vitis vulpina, but the wine-making industry is based almost entirely on the cultivation of the European Vitis vinifera, which was introduced by European settlers. With more than 1,100,000 acres (4,500 km2) under vine, the United States is the fourth-largest wine producing country in the world, after Italy, Spain, and France.

2021 vintage: "Unlike almost all other areas of the state, the Russian River Valley had higher than normal crops in 2021, which has made for a wine of greater generosity and fruit forwardness than some of its stablemates." - Morgan Twain-Peterson
