Perfect with grilled lamb chops (318 views) | | Tasted by HEBRO 10 on 8/9/2019 & rated 89 points: Powerful. Balanced. Textbook (1244 views) | | Tasted by RoccoSydney on 5/19/2018 & rated 93 points: Very, very nice. (1575 views) | | Tasted by fritza on 11/3/2015 & rated 90 points: Salvaged a broken cork, and pleasantly found the wine was still good. Filtered, decanted for two hours. May have waited a little too long for this one. Still dark in color, no bricking. Slight fig and dark berry on the nose. Very soft and smooth tannins with faint but delicious dark fruit on the palate. Short, non lingering finish. Drink now (3576 views) | | Tasted by kbhiggins on 4/26/2015 & rated 91 points: Still drinking well. Tannins have softened, and this has turned into a very nice wine. Not as much depth as the Reserve, but we really enjoyed this. (3967 views) | | Tasted by Brett on 12/17/2014 & rated 90 points: Very nice wine. (4099 views) | | Tasted by norsktorsk on 10/24/2014: Hammel (3609 views) | | Tasted by Snag One on 8/7/2014 & rated 88 points: Soft tannins and lots of ripe fruit. Overtones of tobacco, figs and pencil lead. Nice wine but it has peaked. (3517 views) | | Tasted by grover91 on 10/27/2013 & rated 90 points: Better than expected - a hint of sweet on the nose (but not too much), nice fruit up front, full body in the middle, and then just keeps on going, nice longgg finish. Pnp. Enjoyed with steak. (3017 views) | | Tasted by Urodude on 9/25/2013 & rated 88 points: Enjoyed. Well integrated tannins. Nice finish. Drink next couple of years (2821 views) | | Tasted by BarryInSeattle on 6/18/2013 & rated 92 points: Beautiful dark cherry fruit with a light balance of tannins and acid. Definitely a Californian Cabernet vs a French take, but when it's this tasty who am I to complain? (1502 views) | | Tasted by tfharris on 5/28/2013 & rated 89 points: Good but not great. (2668 views) | | Tasted by mtnbarry on 5/6/2013 & rated 87 points: Good solid wine drinking in the window right now. (2665 views) | | Tasted by kenhoeve on 4/1/2013 & rated 78 points: Medicinal, hot, with tired fruit and no soul. Please oh please WHL, get back to letting the grapes make the wine! (2935 views) | | Tasted by RDAwine on 3/30/2013 & rated 89 points: well made, too fruity for me , no dust, thin nose, not to exciting (1750 views) | | Tasted by SkiJunkie on 12/19/2012 & rated 91 points: Drinking very nicely now. Wish I had more than one bottle left. (2119 views) | | Tasted by njg6gs on 12/1/2012 & rated 90 points: Little bit jammy, but wonderful nose and palate, mid finish. (1867 views) | | Tasted by toontune on 9/4/2012 & rated 88 points: Similar to my 08 tasting of the same vintage, started impressive but lost its concentration and complexity within a couple of hours. (2263 views) | | Tasted by domco on 8/27/2012 & rated 87 points: A bit one dimensional as others have mentioned. Kept expecting more, but never developed. (2196 views) | | Tasted by njg6gs on 8/12/2012 & rated 88 points: Faded in day 3. Needs more acid to refresh the lushness. (2354 views) | | Tasted by TexasBob on 7/14/2012 & rated 87 points: Quite dark purple-blue in color. Blackberry and cinammon on the nose. Notes of coffee, blueberries, blackberry with bramble, and a hint of sour raspberries. Strong tannins. One gets the feeling that this wine has reached its peak but has another ten years or so of drinkability. (1527 views) | | Tasted by njg6gs on 4/3/2012 & rated 83 points: Off bottle or sleeper? (2509 views) | | Tasted by Yamadori on 1/27/2012 & rated 87 points: Allowed to slow ox in the bottle for a couple of hours. Pretty consistent with my TN from mid 2010 except that the tannins have softened considerably. This is cassis/blackcurrent driven from the nose right through to the moderate finish. Medium to full bodied vith plenty of fruit and decent balance. Nice wine but very one dimensional with no secondary characteristics emerging. Still shows a little oak but it seems to be integrating. Can't see this getting much better at this point. (2552 views) | | Only displaying the 25 most recent notes - click to see all notes for this wine... |

https://unwindwine.blogspot.com/2018/11/big-red-petit-verdot-for-serious-sipping.htmlCabernet SauvignonCabernet Sauvignon is probably the most famous red wine grape variety on Earth. It is rivaled in this regard only by its Bordeaux stablemate Merlot, and its opposite number in Burgundy, Pinot Noir. From its origins in Bordeaux, Cabernet has successfully spread to almost every winegrowing country in the world. It is now the key grape variety in many first-rate New World wine regions, most notably Napa Valley, Coonawarra and Maipo Valley. Wherever they come from, Cabernet Sauvignon wines always seem to demonstrate a handful of common character traits: deep color, good tannin structure, moderate acidity and aromas of blackcurrant, tomato leaf, dark spices and cedarwood.
Used as frequently in blends as in varietal wines, Cabernet Sauvignon has a large number of common blending partners. Apart from the obvious Merlot and Cabernet Franc, the most prevalent of these are Malbec, Petit Verdot and Carmenere (the ingredients of a classic Bordeaux Blend), Shiraz (in Australia's favorite blend) and in Spain and South America, a Cabernet – Tempranillo blend is now commonplace. Even the bold Tannat-based wines of Madiran are now generally softened with Cabernet SauvignonUSAAmerican wine has been produced since the 1500s, with the first widespread production beginning in New Mexico in 1628. Today, wine production is undertaken in all fifty states, with California producing 84% of all U.S. wine. The continent of North America is home to several native species of grape, including Vitis labrusca, Vitis riparia, Vitis rotundifolia, and Vitis vulpina, but the wine-making industry is based almost entirely on the cultivation of the European Vitis vinifera, which was introduced by European settlers. With more than 1,100,000 acres (4,500 km2) under vine, the United States is the fourth-largest wine producing country in the world, after Italy, Spain, and France.California2021 vintage: "Unlike almost all other areas of the state, the Russian River Valley had higher than normal crops in 2021, which has made for a wine of greater generosity and fruit forwardness than some of its stablemates." - Morgan Twain-Peterson Napa Valley Napa Valley Wineries and Wine (Napa Valley Vintners)Napa ValleySt. Helena |
