Community Tasting History

Community Tasting Notes (average 89.5 pts. and median of 90 pts. in 71 notes) - hiding notes with no text

Tasted by Sperls on 11/24/2023 & rated 91 points: Nicely put together. Good acidity, honey, apples, long sweet finish. (329 views)
Tasted by John Nezlek on 4/4/2023: No score. Forgot to write this TN soon after I drank the bottle.
General recollection was positive -- mid-high 80s, but that is simply a memory. (571 views)
Tasted by bonedoc on 2/26/2023: Riesling like. Very good w cheese. (628 views)
Tasted by Neurowine1 on 6/5/2021: Drinking very nicely, if not a little shy on acid. Less character than most of Baumard sweeties. (1443 views)
Tasted by goodvitis.com on 2/7/2021 & rated 93 points: No formal notes, but so so good. 15 years young. Was even better the second day. (1447 views)
Tasted by tastark on 2/15/2020: Consistent with prior notes. From 375. No rush to drink these. (1498 views)
Tasted by isaacjamesbaker on 12/25/2018 & rated 92 points: Deep, rich yellow color. Aromas of guava, apricot, honey, spiced tea. Plump texture, deep, rich and sweet, there is some moderate acidity (I could use a bit more). Orange marmalade, plump, pineapple, candied ginger, honey. Deep and sweet but not too cloying. A big Christmas evening hit. (1810 views)
Tasted by tomherer on 11/19/2016 & rated 91 points: Took bonedoc's advice and opened this with a few soft cheeses. Really good advice. Pear, ginger, honey, grapefruit. Expressive nose and a solid finish. Pleasantly sweet but only mildly so, with a medium body and a surprisingly almost-crisp finish. Plenty of life ahead of it. (3014 views)
Tasted by bonedoc on 2/7/2016: Totally forgot this is a sweet wine, try w a cheese course. (3369 views)
Tasted by tastark on 11/22/2015 & rated 92 points: Love this wine. (3217 views)
Tasted by jayw on 9/19/2015: Quince, fig, melon, pear. Honeyed sweetness. Good, but not enough structure to this wine. Works well with foi gras, but not the kind of wine that stands up on its own. In a good place now, with several years of life left to it. (3134 views)
Tasted by cephomer on 9/19/2015 & rated 90 points: Drank at WWS Loire tasting. Very light in color. Nose a bit muted, some pineapple & floral notes. Pineapple, pear and honeysuckle on the palate. Light to medium bodied, with solid core of acidity. Some mineral notes here too. Plenty of fruit, though I found this wine a bit cloying--mostly because I believe this wine is still on the young side. I think in another 5-10 years it will be far better than it is today. (2909 views)
Tasted by wineismylife on 1/24/2015 & rated 92 points: WIML92

Tasted non blind.

Light yellow color in the glass, clear looking throughout. Light nose of pear and ginger. Flavors of lemon and light notes of honey. Medium acidity, light to medium body. Drink or hold. (2974 views)
Tasted by bretrooks on 7/5/2014 & rated 87 points: Consumed over ~1 hour. Mandarin orange & canned pear notes, honeyed sweetness with slightly green and bitter hints. Sweet on the palate, without enough acid for balance. May have been better with salty cheeses or something similar to offset the sweetness. (2775 views)
Tasted by Rezy13 on 5/3/2014: Old World Blind Tasting >$25 (Bin 75): Very green and youthful looking; green grape, hay, leaner nose; sweeter on the palate, mineral, drier finish, almost halbtrocken, was not picking up on any botrytis; ok. (3094 views)
Tasted by JonnyG on 1/20/2014 & rated 89 points: Doesn't pretend to be classic or especially complex, but sure is a balanced and tasty representation of a Loire sticky, not to mention a tremendous value. Muted on the nose, with some notes of herb and grilled pineapple. A bit light on the mid-palate. Plenty of acidity to support appropriate pairings. (3157 views)
Tasted by tastark on 11/19/2013 & rated 92 points: This wine is simply delicious. Notes of honeysuckle and butterscotch. Refreshingly crisp acidity. Perfectly balanced. Not too heavy or too light. Very nice. (3146 views)
Tasted by jayw on 10/7/2012: Muted floral-mineral nose. Candied pear and pineapple, lychee, slate and a touch of cinnamon on the palate. Has acquired better balance in the last two years, with a shimmering minerality on the finish. Day three, still going strong with an added dimension of floral honeysuckle notes on the finish. (4324 views)
Tasted by golby24 on 4/29/2012 & rated 90 points: Very sweet. (4268 views)
Tasted by dcwino on 7/24/2011 & rated 89 points: Impromptu Sunday Bordeaux gathering at Ruth Chris Tysons Corner, VA (Ruth Chris Tysons Corner, VA): Not bad but simple fruit expression. Minerality is there but masked by sugar at the moment. Not much botrytis showing. (5944 views)
Tasted by sedation (yellowgas) on 7/17/2011 & rated 90 points: our first experience with the sweet wines of coteaux du layon wines. bright and lively, flavors were subtle but enjoyable. went well with grilled pork tenderloin while camping (4903 views)
Tasted by Sellar Rat on 5/29/2011 & rated 91 points: Lovely coteaux du layon, and sweet for the appellation. Beautifully balanced, silky texture, subtle tropical fruit flavors. A great pleasure now. (4949 views)
Tasted by ctbob on 3/20/2011: Going to get better? I vote no. It's delightful now -- light, not too sweet but sweet enough, with a v. pleasant clarity and delicacy to it; still not a fan of the 05 Loire stickies, even though everyone keeps raving about them. c.f: 1997 (4264 views)
Tasted by esb on 2/28/2011 & rated 85 points: The fruit has simplified with time and what's left is not that interesting. I get some honey and grassy/herbal notes but overall it seems plain. As for the balance, it's moderately sweet but it lacks acid and sits fat on the palate. Not a bad wine at all but it lacks excitement. (4317 views)
Tasted by cobystilp on 2/2/2011 & rated 89 points: Nice desert wine. We paired it with some French blue brie cheese. The salinity of the cheese was balanced by the sweetness of the wine. (4142 views)
