Tasted by portman63 on 7/6/2019 & rated 91 points: Shows a maturity I was hoping for when I got this on the secondary market. But the chalky minerality is still quite present and bright citrus is very nice on the finish. Therefore I get the aging windows folks put for these. I find them lovely at 5-7 years also so this is the first somewhat mature bottle I've had. I will try harder to hold some from now on. (1778 views)
Tasted by Sen4469 on 11/24/2018 & rated 93 points: Very delicate and refine. Still have a long way to go. Delicious. (2006 views)
Tasted by abh on 7/16/2018 flawed bottle: French Wine at Lunch, and with the World Cup final: Corked (2648 views)
Tasted by Kriz on 10/18/2017 & rated 90 points: A wonderful Sauvignon Blanc. More than 10 years old and showing beautifully. Hazelnut, melon mmmm. (1596 views)
Tasted by rmalloy on 2/24/2017 & rated 91 points: Rich and savory. Thick with ripe pear, lees, and minerals. Tastes slightly over-the-hill to me; I would have preferred more acidic verve. But there's plenty of profundity here. (3388 views)
Tasted by esh44 on 11/3/2016: Honey, petrol, and some bitterness. Tastes very ripe and tropical. (botrytis?) Thick, almost glycerin like. Ok acidity but not that vibrant. Doesn't do it for me. (2784 views)
Tasted by drwine2001 on 8/3/2016: Sad to reach the last bottle of this. Bright yellow. Floral grapefruit and lemon tones. Dry impression with formidable dry extract. Enveloping glyceral mouth feel, wonderful citrus fruit, only a trace of varietal pungency. My only quibble is that it seems to have lost some of the intensity and grip it showed 2 years ago. Outstanding, but I get the sense it has peaked (hardly a weakness in 11 year old Sancerre!). (3313 views)
Tasted by Kriz on 7/25/2016 & rated 95 points: Some bottles of this producer are unstaible and with misstakes appears in a recent tasting. So, risky to buy... But this is good and when it's good it's fantastic! It's 11 years old but when you open it there are flowers, the tropical ones (even a little like toiletspray). Beauful palate, full of fruit after all these years: Melon, grapefruit and some orange. Nice acidity and nothing to do with the new world sauvignons.
Su-per-be Wine! (1159 views)
Tasted by Kriz on 5/25/2016 & rated 93 points: Masterclass Sancerre Domaine François Cotat by Moritz Peeters (Restaurant Dertien Rotterdam): Complex nose with some petrol, nuts and honey. Complex palate with some sweetness. Deep and balanced. Great, long finish. Very good wine and it paid of it's maturation. (3972 views)
92 (+) pts (4632 views)
Tasted by peternelson on 11/29/2014 & rated 90 points: This had wet grass with slight tropical notes, ripe lemon-lime, and a hint of mandarin orange. Starting slight tertiary, round, fuller body than normal. Still drinking well, but not so sure I like it better at this stage than much younger. Great with salad and goat cheese, charcuterie, not so much the oysters! 90-91. Kendall's. (2800 views)
Tasted by Biggsy on 10/14/2014 & rated 90 points: Lovely delicate aromatics; chamomile tea and lemon balm. Quite savoury on the palate, the green tea character punctuated with hints of sweeter tropical fruits. Nice round mouthfeel with good acidity and the balance between the sweet and savoury is great. No rush for these if you have them. (3079 views)
Tasted by drwine2001 on 5/23/2014: Medium yellow. Subtle varietal Sauvignon elements and increasing white flowers. Rich, textured with a tad of residual sugar. Stunning balance of orange oil with great acidity and a long, stony finish. Complete, complex, and exciting-a great white wine which transcends the usual bounds of Sancerre. (3165 views)
93+ pts (3476 views)
Tasted by theRealPepe on 10/19/2013: It's nice to experience a wine that was out of balance in youth that is now superb in middle age. A bit middling on aromatics but complete on the palate. Light body feel, touches of sharp minerality, gooseberry and citrus along with something that reminds me of tropical fruits (but isn't), with a mouthfeel that is simltaneously light and has a richness to it. No issues with oxidation and the clumsy oak of youth has disappeared. Excellent to Outstanding. (1947 views)
Tasted by MC on 9/29/2013: Really enjoyed it. A- (2628 views)
Tasted by MC on 9/9/2013: Very light and fresh in color and on the palate. More restrained than the Boujeau but much more to my liking for its clean, crisp fruit and mineral elements. Seems to just be entering its window. A- (2537 views)
Tasted by drwine2001 on 7/6/2013: Startlingly light color. More restrained grapefruit aromatics than past bottles. Leaner as well, but with the typical depth and glyceral texture of Cotat wines. Outstanding but more structured and less exuberant than it has been-in a word, reaching maturity! (2596 views)
Tasted by peternelson on 6/11/2013 & rated 89 points: Out of plastic wine glass at Hollywood Bowl outdoors: almost zero nose detected; good density, vibrant with ripe citrus fruits (pineapple, grapefruit, Lemon), lots of rocky minerals on the palate, med. long finish. Still going strong, little signs of aging, except a bit rounder, very faint light honey. Shame we forgot our real glasses! (1578 views)
Tasted by BradKNYC on 3/6/2013 flawed bottle: New Yorkers welcome West Coast visitors to Peking Duck House, but the wine Gods were angry. (Peking Duck House- Midtown): A bit controversial. I found the wine oxidized, as did two others. However, the contingent of Sherry lovers at the table loved it. There was no citrusy fruit, no grassiness or freshness, just lots of toasted nuts. I've had too many older bottles that showed more fruit and freshness to consider this anything other than oxidized. (2825 views)
Tasted by Biggsy on 1/23/2013 & rated 91 points: Quite a powerful nose of grapefruit and chamomile tea. Fresh and crisp on the entry but plumps up on the mid palate with an understated tropical fruit flavour, notes of dried pineapple and papaya but also a saline, green tea, mineral character. Zippy citrus acidity and a long finish. (2260 views)
Tasted by drwine2001 on 1/11/2013: Medium yellow. Enveloping multidimensional nose of flowers, citrus and honeydew melon-quite remarkable. Voluminous with incredibly carressing glycerine feel. A touch of residual sugar, round and broad entry balanced by good acidic cut and an endless stony finish. This is astoundingly great Sancerre. Last tasted 2 years ago, and it has really opened marvelously since then. (2110 views)
Tasted by Zweder on 4/3/2012 & rated 89 points: Fresh bouquet with some flowers, apples, minerals and a touch of oak. Same on the palate. Tasteful and concentrated. Limestone, some almonds. Good balance between fresh acidity and a hint of sweetness. Pleasant bit of bitterness in the finish. Excellent wine. (2554 views)
Tasted by tendring on 7/28/2011 & rated 90 points: Wine Education Service - The Loire Valley (Imperial College): Silver green.
Fascinating complex nose, mineral, grassy.
Dry but honeyed, not fruity but there's a wealth of interesting vegetal tastes, eventually some typical sauvignon blanc in the finish. (1869 views)
Tasted by hadwin on 7/28/2011 & rated 89 points: WES - The Loire Valley (Imperial College London): Straw colour with just a hint of green. Great nose, not classic Sb at all. Grassy and herbaceous with aniseed and minerality. Dry but with a great rush of sweet fruit on the start. Quite textured, oil and honey but with the herby grassy notes following though to the long finish. (3323 views)
