(3174 views) | | Tasted by Neil H on 5/15/2011 & rated 90 points: solid, well balaned class rhone. don't have notes, but was a solid $25 wine. (3145 views) | | Tasted by The New Alcoholic on 1/30/2011 & rated 92 points: This is ready to drink. All the power and spice but with smooth tannins and long finish. (3006 views) | | Tasted by GregGH on 6/10/2010 & rated 88 points: just average - and at the price - a poor QPR (3217 views) | | Tasted by toddmk on 6/4/2010 & rated 88 points: Dark Ruby/plum color in the glass. The nose had a nice scent of dark fruit and some alcohol. Dark fruit and a little pepper on the mouth. A little bit soapy as previously noted by others but I did not think it was obstructing the wine. The finish was not very long. Overall, a nice everyday drinking wine. Nothing extraordinary, but good. Definitely ready for drinking now. (1283 views) | | Tasted by lilacwine_400 on 6/1/2010 flawed bottle: La garde dans de mauvaises conditions l'a complétement madérisé/ destructuré. (1441 views) | | Tasted by Friar Tuck on 5/18/2010 & rated 93 points: This is drinking exceptionally well .Tasted with a spare meal of rare strip loin BBQed. The fruit was wonderful. Exquisite balance and a mouth full of flavour. Wish I had a case of this (1324 views) | | Tasted by lilacwine_400 on 4/28/2010 & rated 87 points: encore fermé, peu expressif au nez. En revanche bien opulent et structuré en bouche, notes de poivron. légèrement poudré. finit sur une bonne fraîcheur (1440 views) | | Tasted by GregGH on 8/23/2008 & rated 90 points: almost too much spice - overpowers the fruit (1528 views) | | Tasted by danstrings on 4/20/2008 & rated 88 points: Juicy fruity Gigondas, the only reason I downgrade it a tad is due to a bit of a soapy oakiness that to me was a bit off-putting. There was a lot of peppery fruity goodness here however.. (1621 views) | | Tasted by mmurry on 11/17/2007 & rated 91 points: Thanksgiving Wines (Farpointe Cellar): This wine was fabulous. The nose had a bunch of pencil lead mixed with raspberry and violets. The palate was juicy, with graphite, berries, and a touch of floral notes on the finish. (2156 views) | | Tasted by bgibbard on 6/9/2007: Some pepper on nose, while otherwise is simpler than expected. Purple plum. Palate is better, more intense, spice and pepper, tannins as well, could be aged, very dark fruit. Bet. 1st-2nd tier. (2785 views) |
| Domaine du Grapillon d'Or Producer websiteRed Rhone Blend Read about the different grapes used to produce red and white Rhone wines On CellarTracker, Red Rhone Blend is the term for a wine consisting of two or more of the traditional 13 Southern Rhone grape varieties. Typically it's the Grenache, Syrah, Mourvedre or Cinsault grapes, but can also contain the Muscardin, Counoise, Clairette, Bourboulenc, Picpoul, Roussanne, Terret Noir, Picardan or Vaccarese grapes.
A 'food' wine. Lacking pretension and intended for local consumption with local cuisine. Lacks the 'high' notes on a Bordeaux, more earthy and sharper so often a better partner to meat dishes with a sauce.
