Tasted by LW31 on 7/1/2022: Nice but starting to fade. Would drink (770 views)
Tasted by cweiss on 3/10/2019: Not quite up to 2004 Clos de Briords, but good. (1509 views)
Tasted by gordoyflaca on 9/18/2018 & rated 92 points: Purchased in 2007 And stored. Nicely aged. Still has Dusty lemon fragrance but now complicated by a bit of honeysuckle and rainwater and mellowed out but still with good acidity and freshness and great with food (1574 views)
Tasted by wa2ofd on 9/18/2018 & rated 90 points: Last btl. Goldenish color...Feel very good about this well aged muscadet...Fresh, honeydew on nose...firm finish...so nice with pesto chicken meatballs topped with a vegetable ratatouille...I may begin to buy and age these wines again... (1559 views)
Tasted by wa2ofd on 3/30/2018 & rated 90 points: Zero experience with a mud cadet this old...Interesting...golden Color...zero premox...minerals...enjoyed with seafood...don’t think it improtfrim here, but not sure it breaks down soon... (1755 views)
Tasted by fCOT on 10/11/2016 & rated 91 points: Beautifully aged muscadet with deep saline minerality (absence of fruit flavors), great texture and long finish ! (1959 views)
Tasted by tooch on 10/20/2015 & rated 91 points: This showed really well. The aromas were somewhat tropical and "felt" fat, but the wine was all about precision and balance. Beautiful lemons, brine, and floral notes throughout the palate. Such a dense wine, but isn't heavy. Love that. (2710 views)
Tasted by Rieslingfan on 10/14/2015: Once again I am reminded why people buy and age top Muscadet, and why I should do so more often than I have. This is just gorgeous now, with a developed richness overlaying the salty/mineral base that the wine has always had. The bit of chalkiness/drying that the wine once had is gone, and that may be what translated into the additional overlying richness. Who knows. While more developed than my last bottle a few years ago, it shows no signs of being fully mature, so no rush whatsoever. Drink now for its deliciousness, or hold without concern. (2773 views)
Tasted by MLipton on 9/14/2014: Our second (and last) bottle consumed tonight as a birth year wine for our son on his 10th birthday. Still has that rainwater purity and crisp minerality that mark it instantly as Muscadet. Youthful, vibrant and lovely. (2524 views)
Tasted by forceberry on 7/9/2014 & rated 91 points: Deep, developed yellow color with subtle green highlights. Rich and somewhat developed nose with aromas of ripe yellow fruits, some freshly cut ripe pear, a little bit of something vaguely chemical, a green hint of nettles or spring leaves and a developed touch of honey, all set against a backdrop of developed, honeyed character. The wine is light-to-medium-bodied on the palate with still quite high acidity, but the age seems to have hollowed out the midtones from the wine: there are trebly, high-toned flavors of saline minerality, leesiness and tart lemony fruit and a bass-rich undercurrent of honey, dried peach and ripe pear, but very little in-between to tie them together. The finish is long, bright and tangy with quite high acidity and rich flavors of honeydew melon, some sweet mirabelle plum, a little bit of saline minerality and a hint of leesy richness.

A wonderfully vibrant, beautifully developed and still quite youthful Muscadet with impressive complexity for the style. I can imagine that the wine must have been pretty mineral and taut when young, and the age has granted the wine some sweeter tones of dried fruits and honeyed richness, but somehow the wine feels a bit disjointed - the age hasn't really brought anything to tie these two very different ends together. While this wine is very impressive and downright delicious even on its own, it still feels slightly disjointed. I'd pair the wine with some subtle, yet rich enough food that would make the wine come together. I hope my TN didn't hear too negative, because this wine was, nevertheless, a bloody brilliant wine. Worth its price at 30€. (1090 views)
Tasted by redwhiteandrich on 2/16/2014 & rated 92 points: Best of 5 purchased about 3 months ago. Rich and leesy, showing some earthy characteristics along with zingy acids and minerals. (2616 views)
Tasted by redwhiteandrich on 1/1/2014 & rated 88 points: Coming around, even after 3 weeks of delivery, this is finally settling down. (2173 views)
Tasted by redwhiteandrich on 12/24/2013 & rated 86 points: first bottle was oxidized, this showed better but has me thinking that this batch from Cana did not see the best storage conditions. (1803 views)
Tasted by Xavier Auerbach on 12/7/2013 & rated 92 points: A private dinner (Bentley's Oyster Bar, London, UK): Bottled after extended lees ageing, the archetype of intensity without weight, salinity, ample fruit, seamless, energetic, subtle, the merest hint of yeast, dry and fresh but not acidic or austere; this is really Muscadet-and-a-half. (2139 views)
Tasted by 14frimaire on 9/7/2013: Classic beauty. (1667 views)
Tasted by Chainthroer on 6/14/2012 & rated 92 points: A pale yellow color; a little more yellow than when tasted about 14 months ago. The nose has a lot more white flower perfume now, along with aromas of lemon, lime, sea breeze, minerals, a touch of ginger. I did not get the mustiness from last time. Still clean and crisp in the mouth; very nice acid. Mellow lemon and lime flavors, along with spiciness and the same touch of ginger. The wine is definitely more matured and elegant, but still has time left. A seemly longer finish, than last time - maybe 25 seconds. A delightful wine. It pairs quite nice with scallops. (2215 views)
Tasted by marc d on 4/19/2012: Excellent bottle, very aromatic. The mouth was a little tight at first but singing after an hour or two of air.
Great with grilled halibut. (2163 views)
Tasted by MLipton on 9/21/2011: Time has rounded this wine out some, so it now has greater palate feel but still vibrant fruit and minerality and (fortunately) no hint of oxidation. Now yellow in color, this wine is drinking beautifully now but shows no signs of fading. Really beautiful and a treat to drink. (2370 views)
Tasted by Chainthroer on 4/20/2011 & rated 91 points: Very pale yellow color. Lime, Lemon, faint sea salt characteristics, pleasant mustiness, ginger. Clean and crisp in the mouth; good acid. Decent finish - maybe 15+ sec. Consumed with mild Cajun styled roasted organic chicken with organic carrots. A nice paring variation from shelled fish. (2603 views)
Tasted by Mr T on 4/13/2011: another fine bottle (2469 views)
Tasted by Mr T on 8/23/2010: I got just a taste but was not paying attention...others seemed to enjoy (2310 views)
Tasted by hutch on 8/17/2010 & rated 91 points: This is some pretty impressive stuff. Consumed over a period of a few hours, and it kept changing throughout that time. At some times, it was deceptively simple, clean and pure, but not really showing very much. There was a saline and minerally phase, and there was even a Gruner phase, where lots of herbal components came out. Needless to say, this was pretty fascinating stuff, both with dinner and on its own afterwards. I must admit I wish a had a few more bottles lying around. (2342 views)
Tasted by Rieslingfan on 5/26/2010 & rated 92 points: Allow me to copy my own note from 3 years ago, except with a few slight twists. Not much has changed:
This smells like Chablis & clearly echoes salt air and seashells. Ample fruit, as well as chalk, salt, stone and mineral dust flow across the palate in an integrated whole. If you place a glass of this wine near your ear you can hear the ocean lapping against a sandy beach. It has not budged since I last tasted it. (2602 views)
Tasted by Mr T on 3/1/2010: Very nice white....Sue really enjoyed it and paired really well with our meals of sushi, quesadilla and lamb chop, so really covered a lot of bases. (2448 views)
Tasted by Mr T on 10/20/2009: Wow, this was delicious. Drunk primarily as an aperitif and wonderful and then after some bread/brioche was served it just blossomed. Great stuff and age certainly not an issue. I would score in the same 92-93 range seen below (2509 views)

Rockss and Fruit (8/8/2005)
(Luneau-Papin Pierre de le Grange Muscadet Sevre et Main sur Lie) I am loving these '04 Muscadets and this one is a doozy. Classic nose of minerals, lime zest and white flowers. Crispy, crunchy palate, with rocky minerals and jagged acidity. Great length, acidity & purity.

Melon de Bourgogne

Melon de Bourgogne or Melon is a variety of white grape grown primarily in the Loire Valley region of France. It is also grown in North America. It is best known through its use in the white wine Muscadet.

In the U.S., Federal law prevents "Muscadet" from being used for American-produced wine; only the full name of the grape, or the shortened "Melon" can be used.
