Tasted by acorelli on 8/27/2021 & rated 92 points: Brilliant! Rich, balanced, delicious, loads of stone fruit. Wish I had more… (374 views)
Tasted by Heynetty on 2/15/2010: A: A light straw
N: Bottle is very cold. Fresh citrus rind for JTH
P: Pithy orangerind. A little floral. Astringent. Tough sell. JTH notes Sharp metal with wood and butter. Definitely oaked. Alcohol high (14.4%) and out of balance.

C: Not a fan of this style. A bruiser with little finesse or elegance. AVOID. $25 (1077 views)
Tasted by arass on 11/20/2009 & rated 82 points: sarah says it makes her think of freshly mowed lawn, ali says that is lemongrass, dumbass. refreshing, good for the afternoon. compliments the b-ball nicely, maybe not so much for a fine dinner. crisp pear flavor, not super fruity, slight spiciness. (2960 views)
Tasted by Bellissimo on 11/3/2009 & rated 86 points: Light golden color. Nose is enticing with melon and pineapple. Taste is peach, pineapple and lychee. Pleasant acid and a long finish though it is out of balance. Glad I tried it but can find more I like for less elsewhere. (3062 views)
Tasted by Slics on 3/29/2009 & rated 88 points: Golden colour with a lovely melon tropical fruit nose, medium-bodied on the palate aand a soft finish. Great sipping wine.Stock up for summer! (3178 views)
Tasted by gdykema on 11/23/2008 & rated 84 points: Medium/heavy mouthfeel, oily and viscous on the tongue. Green apple, especially in the finish. Medium dry, subtle. (2760 views)
Tasted by wino_tim on 11/21/2008 & rated 87 points: Nicely balanced with flavors of apple, cut hay and pineapple. (2664 views)
Tasted by TavyDog on 10/16/2008 & rated 86 points: Interesting blend. Heavy, oily mouthfeel. Little shows on attack but acid comes out on mid and finish. Grapefruit with lots of mineral notes. (1847 views)
Tasted by iByron on 7/28/2008 & rated 88 points: Color (4/5): Pale tannish gold. Nose (12/15): Pineapple peach predominates with some honeysuckle and some Juicy Fruit gum. Really big beautiful nose! Palate (8/10): Complex, full-bodied blend of peachy lychee and sedimentary rocks with an unearthly waxy mouthfeel. Still some good acidity though. Finish (7/10): Nice and long, 20 or so seconds. Can be recalled and extended easily with a cold inhale. Potential (7/10): The acidity and complexity of flavors suggests that this wine can yield good results with some bottle time. At least five years if not ten. I don't know white Chateuneuf du Pape well enough to compare, but this is a good wine in its own right. Will stand up to any hearty white wine fare, though the acidity might make it a bit harsh with a spicy meal. (2244 views)
Tasted by panadera on 6/21/2008: unremarkable (1760 views)
Tasted by sbreffle on 3/31/2008 & rated 87 points: Nice taste of nectarine, minerals. A bit of creaminess to the mouthfeel. A touch hot on the finish, but I really enjoyed this. (1742 views)
Tasted by jhannah27 on 3/30/2008: Only redeeming factor about this wine is that it did have a decent tropical fruit and coconut nose. Otherwise, if you ever wanted to know what Kerosene tastes like, I'd imagine this is close. I didn't miind the 05, so I wonder if the bottle was flawed. We took one sip and dumped it out. Bonny Doon Vineyard

Producer website

Bonny Doon was sold in early 2020 to "WarRoom", a wine production and marketing entity formed in 2018. Per a January 2020 Decanter article - https://www.decanter.com/wine-news/californias-bonny-doon-sold-430550/ - "Graham will retain creative control of Bonny Doon’s wines, but production will change from 35,000 cases of 15 different wines annually to just four wines: the flagship red Rhône blend Le Cigare Volant; Le Cigare Blanc (based on Vermentino); Vin Gris de Cigare (a Rhône varietal rosé); and a 100% Picpoul."

2006 Bonny Doon Vineyard Le Cigare Blanc

Blend: 75% Grenache Blanc, 24% Rousanne

White Rhone Blend

A white wine containing two or more Rhône varieties, including: Viognier, Marsanne, Roussanne, Clairette, Grenache Blanc and Bourboulenc.

USA

American wine has been produced since the 1500s, with the first widespread production beginning in New Mexico in 1628. Today, wine production is undertaken in all fifty states, with California producing 84% of all U.S. wine. The continent of North America is home to several native species of grape, including Vitis labrusca, Vitis riparia, Vitis rotundifolia, and Vitis vulpina, but the wine-making industry is based almost entirely on the cultivation of the European Vitis vinifera, which was introduced by European settlers. With more than 1,100,000 acres (4,500 km2) under vine, the United States is the fourth-largest wine producing country in the world, after Italy, Spain, and France.

California

2021 vintage: "Unlike almost all other areas of the state, the Russian River Valley had higher than normal crops in 2021, which has made for a wine of greater generosity and fruit forwardness than some of its stablemates." - Morgan Twain-Peterson
