Tasted by z_willus_d on 12/24/2022 & rated 88 points: This wine seems to have held its own through the years, for me, becoming not worse nor better than it was on release. I just wish I hadn't buried my half-case in the nethers of my wine fridges so that I could have enjoyed my bottles here or there on a weeknights through the years. Clean, balanced, lowish acidity, smooth, black and blue berries with a touch of smoke and wood. (422 views)
Tasted by TheBosWineGuy on 11/28/2016 & rated 91 points: Probably at peak now but no signs of slowing down at all. The wine retains it's original color and freshness. There is still a backbone of slight tannin and minerality that keeps the fruit (and there is plenty of it) sharpish. Raspberries and blueberries dominate on the finish. An exceptional QPR wine.  Tasted by ftc on 8/15/2014 & rated 90 points: I'm impressed with the way this wine pulls off a new world fruit-forwardness but retains its own likeable identity, especially given the price point. Very dark garnet. Blackcurrant syrup, oak, smoke, flowers on the nose. Gobs and gobs of blackcurrant and wild cherry candy with a touch of rosewater, cedar cigar box. The rise and fall of the fruit is very nice: powerful, but doesn't just smack you in the face and disappear-- swells up, sustains then exits slowly on the long finish. Seems at its peak. Really a 90+. (5100 views)
Tasted by David_T on 2/24/2014 & rated 87 points: Earth, grilled meat, florals and dark fruit aromas. Either my palate has changed or this isn't as good as it was three years ago. A touch hot with meaty and jammy notes. Fairly low acid, moderate integrated tannins. I agree this should probably be consumed by the end of its 10th birthday. (5406 views)
Tasted by Winiac on 1/15/2014 & rated 89 points: Dried fruit flavors and good minerality. Pretty good wine for the price. Don't keep it any longer, it is at its peak. (5557 views)
Tasted by BrunelloBob on 11/15/2013 & rated 88 points: Cedar, dry dark fruit, mineral. Maybe better on Day 2? (5591 views)
Tasted by fatherdamo on 8/30/2013 & rated 89 points: very fresh on the palate, the acidity is very appealing indeed. lots of fruit and a little complexity too. i love priorat wines and this does not disappoint. i wish i had more. (4065 views)
Tasted by Kentw on 8/19/2013 & rated 89 points: Continues to drink well. Still fresh, dark fruits with black cherry and blackberries and some spice on the finish. (2345 views)
Tasted by jdoakpark on 7/18/2013 & rated 88 points: Ok (1739 views)
Tasted by Kentw on 5/7/2013 & rated 89 points: This bottle was better than the last. Full body but smooth, not heavy. Dark fruits come through very nicely and some spices all around. Well balanced and sweet fruit on the finish.. Age does help! Drank with friend at dinner who really liked it. (2037 views)
Tasted by TheBosWineGuy on 2/12/2013 & rated 90 points: Cranberry sauce and pepper. Really balanced effort. I like this a lot. (2137 views)
Tasted by Kentw on 1/18/2013 & rated 87 points: Good daily drinker. Nice balance of fruit and spice. (1906 views)
Tasted by Pipcelot on 1/2/2013 & rated 89 points: A well-made, pleasant wine. Dark fruits and leather on the nose and palate. Good QPR. (2088 views)
Tasted by pinoteer on 12/16/2012 & rated 89 points: Decanted for 2 hours. Reticent nose, but some plum fruit, green pepper, and a little alcohol. Upfront tannins, elderberry, and sweet baking spices. Good acidity and a moderate finish. (1989 views)
Tasted by broughstyle on 11/16/2012 & rated 89 points: Love this wine! Sad only one bottle left. Ruby and delicious. Strong vanilla (1826 views)
Tasted by mdvino63 on 10/23/2012 & rated 90 points: Lovely, as always. A very nice wine with dinner, and a great QPR. Bonnie likes it, too. (1818 views)
Tasted by Kentw on 5/4/2012 & rated 88 points: Nice flavor profile. Medium to full bodied. Fruit forward, some spice and and somewhat jammy. (2426 views)
Tasted by nickbb on 1/29/2012 & rated 89 points: Intense nose of vanilla and stewed dark fruits. The palate is a mix of chocolate, leather and those dark fruits with a touch of port. The tannins are well integrated and the mouthfeel is smooth. Overall a very pleasant experience, and I would say this wine still has some legs if you can wait. (4021 views)
Tasted by BklynNeophyte on 12/12/2011 & rated 85 points: Good, but quickly deteriorated by the second night. Comparable: Pat Listach. (2301 views)
Tasted by drzweigelt on 11/29/2011: Same rating as before, this wine has still some potential - after having a glass on day 1 and with the bottle open for 3 days it was still delicious. A bit of an overripe port note is noticeable, but only if you are looking for it. Still very rich and smooth, orange cests, bitte chocolate, some kirsch and almonds with a spicy component (don't ask me what this means, but this is direct brain -> keyboard). Whatever minerality means, theres some of it hidden in the finish. Again, highly recommended! (2166 views)
Tasted by drzweigelt on 11/10/2011 & rated 90 points: Smooth drinker, my first Priorat and I am impressed by the great QPR of 10€/bottle. Fruity, rich, elegant, nice tannic structure - simply great. Definite rebuy. (2149 views)
Tasted by broughstyle on 10/14/2011 & rated 89 points: holy cow, awesome chocolate and vanilla taste. really opened up after second glass. I have a few more bottle of this originally purchased in 2009 and will decant next time. Great value and an overall good bottle of vino (3993 views)
Tasted by jgimpelson on 9/24/2011 & rated 89 points: Great wine. (2023 views)
Tasted by hende14 on 6/5/2011 & rated 90 points: Short decant. Dark purple color. Very fragrant lilacs and blueberry. Full body. Nice tannins that support the fruit and acid very nicely. Really nice dark fruit. Tastes like warm berry pie with a little tobacco on the nice long finish. Alcohol is well integrated. What a great QPR. Will keep my eye open for this wine in the future. (Vega Escal Priorat) #3; (tasted blind) COLOR-dark; NOSE-very perfumed and floral (rose petals, lilacs, pansies); freshly made hot raspberry jam; PALATE-great minerality; I get a sausage/kielbasa play; obvious plum juice; good structure and oomph; very good wine and well made, but lacks some charisma (after opening and seeing that this was $20, Gary was much more impressed w/ it's QPR); JM-90; GV-90  90 points

Vinos de España - Wines of Spain (Instituto Español de Comercio Exterior) | Wikipedia
Wine Map on weinlagen-info

Spain is the third largest wine producing nation in the world, occupying the majority of the Iberian Peninsula with vast diversity in climate, culture, and of course, wine. From inky, dark reds of the [Priorat] to dry, white Finos from Andalusia, Spain can easily boast of elaborating a wide variety of notable styles. Within Spain there are currently 62 demarcated wine regions, of which a handful have gained international recognition: [Rioja], Priorat and [Ribera del Duero]. Yet these regions are only a small sample of the high quality wines Spain produces. Regions such as Cava, Penedes, Somontano, Galicia, Rueda and Jerez are only a few of the numerous regions worthy of exploration throughout Spain. Spain can also lay claim to having the most land under vine in the world, growing up to, by some accounts, 600 indigenous varietals of which Tempranillo is their most well known. Other popular varietals include [Garnacha], Bobal and Monastrell for reds and for whites; the infamous [sic] Palomino Fino grape which is used in the production of sherry wine, Pedro Ximenez in Montilla Morilles, Albarino used in the creation of the bright, effervescent wines of Galicia, and Verdejo in Rueda. - Source: - Catavino.net

Spain is not in the forefront of winemaking for its dessert wines, other than for its sweet wines from Sherry country including the highly revered Olorosos (when sweetened). But apart from Sherry Spain has a range of styles of dessert wines, ranging from the those made from the Pedro Ximenez grape primarily in Jerez and Montilla-Moriles) to luscious, red dessert wines made in the Mediterranean from the Garnacha (Grenache) grape. Some good Moscatels are made in Mallorca, Alicante and Navarre. The northwest corner of Spain, Galicia, with its bitter Atlantic climate, is even making dessert wines, called “Tostadillos” in the village of Ribadivia (similar to France’s “Vin de Paille”). The Canary Islands have made interesting dessert wines for centuries (they are mentioned by Shakespeare, for example) and in recent years the quality of winemaking has been improved and the Canary Islands wines are being better marketed now. The winemaking styles for “Vinos Dulces” are also diverse, from “Late Harvest” (Vendimia Tardía) to “Fortified Wines” (Fermentación Parcial). Based on in-spain.info.
