| Community Tasting Notes (average 90.7 pts. and median of 91 pts. in 7 notes) - hiding notes with no text | | Tasted by GeauxDoc on 10/4/2019 & rated 89 points: Decanted for about an hour. Nose of black fruit some anise and nutmeg with a woodsy must. This wine has softened with a faded violet color. Tannins have softened considerably with soft black fruit and herbal flavors. Drink now if you still have it. (514 views) | | Tasted by Employee500 on 3/16/2015 & rated 89 points: Big, dark and monolithic and still very tannic. Fruit is present but softening, but I'm not sure this will ever emerge as anything other than a dark bruiser of a wine. While not elegant or "charming" this is still quite palatable and would be enjoyable with a fatty piece of red meat (ribeye or rack of lamb).... (1861 views) | | Tasted by JoshUW on 5/24/2011 & rated 91 points: On the nose: Dark fruit, earthy funk, some faint anise, definitely forest like with the bark/wood/dirt/plants, etc. On the Palette: Good balanced acid and tannins. Not as big and thick as I was expecting, but more of a delicate mouth feel play. Definitely intriguing that it defied expectations. Solid dark berry fruit, hints of tarragon(not sure why I got this), faint dark cherry, blue berry. (2972 views) | | Tasted by tcfishler on 4/13/2011: Very fresh tree bark, herbs (including the illicit kind), and gasoline nose. Lovely, surprisingly delicate interplay between buoyant freshness and deep sweetness in the mouth, with the sneakiest of tannins . This has both distinctiveness and breed. (2996 views) | | Tasted by Employee500 on 8/28/2009 & rated 92 points: Dark, dense and tannic, with rich blackberry and blueberry fruit, some roasted espresso bean, and an herbalicious (Aglianico-like) and licorice component. Very good now, but with its huge structure, definitely one for the future. Tasted double blind at an offline.
Dark garnet color in the glass, clear hue throughout. Nose of chalk, perfume, plums and berries. Flavors of plums and berries. Bright acidity, firm tannins, medium to full body. Hold.
My guess was this is a 2005 IGT from Italy. (3882 views) | | Tasted by rjonwine@gmail.com on 4/5/2008 & rated 92 points: Medium dark red violet color; spices, oregano, thyme, marjoram and berry nose; tasty, roasted lamb and beef palate with black and white pepper; medium finish (1356 views) |
