Tasted by E-Dub on 2/15/2010 & rated 90 points: Good dark color. Dark Fruit and some interesting scented klenex floral notes on the nose, with typical spicy shiraz aspects as well. Big fruit on the front palate. Really expected this to hit harder and on the back end and it was pleasantly elegant. Mild tannins and a bit of oak, but not overdone. Nice finish that evolves over several notes.

Tasted by jr0826 on 11/10/2009 & rated 82 points: Very, Very tight wine. Asparagus, clove and chemical nose. Hits the palate HARD with very firm tannins, with very little fruit. Slight chemical taste and tart bright cherry finish. Long finish, but a bitter, distasteful one. Decanted for 2+ hours, and seemed to open up a bit, but needs much more. If you have a bottle, wait a couple of years to drink, and if you don't....don't get one. (2606 views)
Tasted by isaacjamesbaker on 8/22/2009: dark berries on the nose. smooth on the palate but there's not enough grip. this just falls off and feels flabby. some plum and blackberry flavors, but the finish also drops off quickly. (2157 views)
Tasted by trayhumphrey on 7/7/2009 & rated 89 points: An excellent wine. Everything I like in Autralian Shiraz (blend). Lots of fruit on the nose and palate, not much bite, a lingering finish. Buy more. (2709 views)
Tasted by THaas on 1/18/2009 & rated 90 points: Outstanding! Minty/eucalyptus nose over raspberry and dark cherry. Powerful flavors of cherry, cassis, mint, and spice (one writer said "chai tea," and I'm inclined to agree). Delicious. Well-balanced, with a long finish. (1801 views)
Tasted by ToniJ on 1/13/2009: Coffee on the nose blackberry and spice, cinnamon and allspice on the palate blackberry and cherry (1274 views)

Cabernet-Shiraz Blend

A very popular blend in Australia-particularly from South Australia, where the two varietals work well together. The most famous of these would be the Penfolds Bin 389, considered Australia's most cellared wine. In years gone by this was referred to as "Baby Grange" as some of the wine used barrels from the vintage of Grange.

The 2018 Paternus states only McLaren Vale Shiraz (no Cab Sav).
