Tasted by rmcnees on 1/9/2023 & rated 93 points: At twenty years, this is at its apex, peak - not likely to improve with further aging, but good for another decade. Dark blackish/blue inky colored, full bodied, rich round concentrated, complex but elegant and refined and balanced - hugely aromatic, ripe black berry and black currant fruits with notes of licorice, black tea, forest floor and tobacco leaf with sweet oak on the lingering finish.

Tasted by Tarrant on 4/7/2013 & rated 92 points: Love this winery, can't believe we didn't visit last spring when we were in Napa, one of our faves - Dark, full bodied with a nose of blackfruit, plum, cassis, cedar, mocha and vanilla, excellent concentration and structure, good balance with a bit of heat, velvety smooth on the palate with terrific length, awesome! (92 Points). (3290 views)
Tasted by Baron Slick on 6/17/2012 & rated 91 points: Opaque purple. Fragrant, seductive aromas. Layered notes of cassis, black and blue berries, licorice, Asian spice, cigar box, and Dr. Pepper on the mid-palate. At once soft yet concentrated, ending with a touch of sweetness. Excellent.  Tasted by Cfrederick on 4/18/2009 & rated 93 points: Bottle was excellenet. We let it breathe for 1/2 hour, did not decant. Picked up cherry/berry from nose, well balanced, long finish. I need to find more of this wine...... (3403 views)
Tasted by vinole on 6/29/2008 & rated 92 points: Consistent with previous notes. (3365 views)
Tasted by winescrooge on 6/1/2008 & rated 90 points: This is a big, bold, chewy, cabernet..My first words after tasting were, "This is a Monster" (3105 views)
Tasted by ewineguy on 5/18/2008 & rated 90 points: While the 2003 Reserve is supposed to be incredible (95), this was a special bottle of wine. This was served at the table with a nice Ribeye, grilled asparagus, and Italian Bread. It was huge hit. It was a dark inky purple color and a nice but big smell. I got pepper and currant others noted a chocolate earthy taste just this side of merlot, and it was viscous and held the glassware well. What a meal and what a wine. BPC (3140 views)
Tasted by jjclips2 on 4/16/2008 & rated 86 points: Again less than impressed with the '03's from Keenan, particularly compared to the '01 and '02 vintages. Still a very good wine, just not as much depth and structure as anticipated. Nice black fruits, touch of spice and chocolate. Slight hint of eucalyptus. Medium-full body with moderate tannins. Decent acidity and finish. (3037 views)
Tasted by drgrape on 1/27/2008 & rated 87 points: Medium body with a little too much tannins. Probably should have been opened a day early or kept for a few more years. (3166 views)
Tasted by yotaiwan on 12/13/2007 & rated 87 points: strong, oaky but stiff and hard. (3490 views)
Tasted by vinole on 11/13/2007 & rated 92 points: Had at a business dinner. Consistent with previous note. (3421 views)
Tasted by JOJ on 11/11/2007 & rated 89 points: A deep nose that hits you inches from the glass, with earth, leather, and red fruit. Palate is intense, with extracted red fruit dominating. Slightly over the top for me, but nicely made. (3385 views)
Tasted by vinole on 11/10/2007 & rated 92 points: Crown Fall 07 Upscale Tasting (Boca Raton, FL): This was better than expected. Lush dark fruit with a medium to long length finish without any of the green notes found in many wines from the vintage. (5608 views)
Tasted by hcampana on 9/10/2007 & rated 92 points: 14.3% Alcohol by Volume.

More purple than ruby. Spicy nose of of pure cabernet sauvignon black fruits. With swirling, a hint of barnyard emerges. Very full bodied, extracted, with tannins that cover the entire mouth (in an enjoyable fashion). In need of some serious cellar time. This is a very concentrated cabernet. My kind of monster! (3539 views)
Tasted by hutch on 8/3/2007 & rated 91 points: Nice blackish fruits. Just a gorgeous structure to this wine. Very big, but holds itself together very well. Great fruit. A joy to drink. 90-92 (3564 views)
Tasted by EMichels on 3/17/2007 & rated 92 points: Deep, deep crimson; Strong; Heavy tannins but they don't interfere; 5,12,17,8 (3742 views)
Tasted by mattiasjansson on 3/8/2007 & rated 85 points: Dusty and drying. Tannins overwhelming the fruit at this point. (3692 views)

Cabernet Sauvignon

Cabernet Sauvignon is probably the most famous red wine grape variety on Earth. It is rivaled in this regard only by its Bordeaux stablemate Merlot, and its opposite number in Burgundy, Pinot Noir. From its origins in Bordeaux, Cabernet has successfully spread to almost every winegrowing country in the world. It is now the key grape variety in many first-rate New World wine regions, most notably Napa Valley, Coonawarra and Maipo Valley. Wherever they come from, Cabernet Sauvignon wines always seem to demonstrate a handful of common character traits: deep color, good tannin structure, moderate acidity and aromas of blackcurrant, tomato leaf, dark spices and cedarwood.

Used as frequently in blends as in varietal wines, Cabernet Sauvignon has a large number of common blending partners. Apart from the obvious Merlot and Cabernet Franc, the most prevalent of these are Malbec, Petit Verdot and Carmenere (the ingredients of a classic Bordeaux Blend), Shiraz (in Australia's favorite blend) and in Spain and South America, a Cabernet – Tempranillo blend is now commonplace. Even the bold Tannat-based wines of Madiran are now generally softened with Cabernet Sauvignon

USA

American wine has been produced since the 1500s, with the first widespread production beginning in New Mexico in 1628. Today, wine production is undertaken in all fifty states, with California producing 84% of all U.S. wine. The continent of North America is home to several native species of grape, including Vitis labrusca, Vitis riparia, Vitis rotundifolia, and Vitis vulpina, but the wine-making industry is based almost entirely on the cultivation of the European Vitis vinifera, which was introduced by European settlers. With more than 1,100,000 acres (4,500 km2) under vine, the United States is the fourth-largest wine producing country in the world, after Italy, Spain, and France.

2021 vintage: "Unlike almost all other areas of the state, the Russian River Valley had higher than normal crops in 2021, which has made for a wine of greater generosity and fruit forwardness than some of its stablemates." - Morgan Twain-Peterson
