Tasted by Jaypeery on 11/26/2022 & rated 90 points: Solid new world BDX blend. Still youthful and vibrant for its age. (673 views)
Tasted by Javachip on 8/5/2022 & rated 90 points: Allowed to breathe in glass 1 hour. Clear deep dark garnet-blood red color. Initial off-notes blew off to reveal a lovely bouquet of mixed black fruits and their liqueurs; mocha, violets, cardamom, nutmeg, bay leaf, green tobacco, crushed gravel. Full body, velvet mouthfeel, seamless, balanced, lingering finish. Improved with air, held up fine under vacuum stopper in refrigerator for four days. (763 views)
Tasted by Erick Wand on 11/13/2020: Corked. (1649 views)
Tasted by mats13 on 10/14/2020 flawed bottle: Tragedy - so many burnt bottles in this lot (1705 views)

Tasted by larrybbaldwin on 7/3/2017 & rated 93 points: Opened last night and it was singing! Bright fruit and still fresh. Slight garnet color but still youthful in appearance. I feel like this will still hold for a few years but will plan to drink soon as it was delicious. (4330 views)
Tasted by Beancounter55 on 3/25/2017 & rated 92 points: last bottle of six; tight at first, tannic, then after 30 minutes superb. berry fruit, slight smokiness, opened further during dinner. wish there was more, could definitely go a couple of more years but drinking great now. (4330 views)
Tasted by Wine Problems on 6/25/2016 & rated 92 points: Drank after a 2-3 hr decant with bbq brisket and chicken. Still a little fruit left, but not much; a bit more on the earthy side. Smooth tanins. Suprisingly not much sediment. If you have any on hand, I wouldn't wait any longer to open this. (4667 views)
Tasted by CasebyCase on 3/7/2016 flawed bottle: Very disappointing....wine had a funky nose and the fruit was not there. Tried two different bottles and they were the same. Very early maturing? (5246 views)
Tasted by MLwinefan on 11/26/2015: Past its prime but it was still drinkable (5067 views)
Tasted by grosel on 8/14/2015 & rated 93 points: Lots of fruit. Drinking great (2978 views)

Tasted by paul195 on 10/19/2013 & rated 88 points: Not familiar with this wine - good color, medium bodied, decent fruit, ok finish. A Bordeaux blend with very little Bordeaux complexity (4251 views)
Tasted by rhpolk on 4/18/2013 & rated 89 points: I don't always enjoy all of my older Justin wines (it ages differently than the Napa Cabs), but this one is quite pleasant. Still some fruit left and light (but not overwhelming) tobacco notes. (4804 views)

Tasted by dmaharaj on 8/25/2011 & rated 91 points: a fabulous bordeaux blend. opened the 1999 and the 2000 for dinner and compared them both through the course of the meal. They both changed and evolved as they opened. Nice and juicy, but balanced, definitely paso robles grapes (4438 views)

Red Bordeaux Blend

Red Bordeaux is generally made from a blend of grapes. Permitted grapes are Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc, Merlot, Petit Verdot, Malbec and rarely Carménère.Today Carménère is rarely used, with Château Clerc Milon, a fifth growth Bordeaux, being one of the few to still retain Carménère vines. As of July 2019, Bordeaux wineries authorized the use of four new red grapes to combat temperature increases in Bordeaux. These newly approved grapes are Marselan, Touriga Nacional, Castets, and Arinarnoa.

Wineries all over the world aspire to making wines in a Bordeaux style. In 1988, a group of American vintners formed The Meritage Association to identify wines made in this way. Although most Meritage wines come from California, there are members of the Meritage Association in 18 states and five other countries, including Argentina, Australia, Canada, Israel, and Mexico.

USA

American wine has been produced since the 1500s, with the first widespread production beginning in New Mexico in 1628. Today, wine production is undertaken in all fifty states, with California producing 84% of all U.S. wine. The continent of North America is home to several native species of grape, including Vitis labrusca, Vitis riparia, Vitis rotundifolia, and Vitis vulpina, but the wine-making industry is based almost entirely on the cultivation of the European Vitis vinifera, which was introduced by European settlers. With more than 1,100,000 acres (4,500 km2) under vine, the United States is the fourth-largest wine producing country in the world, after Italy, Spain, and France.

California

2021 vintage: "Unlike almost all other areas of the state, the Russian River Valley had higher than normal crops in 2021, which has made for a wine of greater generosity and fruit forwardness than some of its stablemates." - Morgan Twain-Peterson
