Tasted by redz on 12/18/2022 & rated 92 points: Last bottle of 6. Still nice, good place now (756 views)
Tasted by redz on 4/15/2022 & rated 93 points: Subtle, easily approachable with short decant. Just plain tasty. Wouldn't hold a lot longer. And the Erna labels are almost as good as the wine, crazy robot blenderhead. (1046 views)
Tasted by spectrumphoto on 9/2/2017 & rated 94 points: Quite nice with a dry aged Prime steak... No need to decant. If you like Lewis or Neal or those fruit forward cut with a steak knife wines then this is for you (1619 views)
Tasted by mxpbuy on 9/16/2016 & rated 91 points: Classic fruit bomb from B&H, but plenty of sophistication too. Nicely layered black and blue fruits, very smooth, long finish. Still at least a few more top years left in this wine. (1466 views)
Tasted by johnny1206 on 8/27/2016 & rated 91 points: Very good aromas and very smooth. (1754 views)
Tasted by mxpbuy on 1/22/2016 & rated 92 points: Very smooth and in a great place right now. A Bordeaux blend (mostly) with a heavy dose of 11% PV and a 7% Syrah wild card. Fruit dominated as you can almost guarantee will be the case with B&H/Erna Schein labels, but the alcohol is pretty well integrated and not a distraction. (1652 views)
Tasted by iawcc on 12/26/2013 & rated 92 points: A much different wine than the 08. Nice fruit compared to the coffee cigar box of 08. (2081 views)
Tasted by golfwine on 4/4/2013 & rated 84 points: Super-ripe on the nose and although that settled down a bit, this was a very ripe, fruit-forward wine of little complexity and even less finesse. Although there was not the quirky acidity of bottles past, I don't hold this offering in any higher regard than most other E.S. offerings drank over the past few years. Give me the Behrens & Hitchcock wines of old and I'd be a much happier camper. (2046 views)
Tasted by sdezutti on 4/29/2012 & rated 91 points: Pure, opaque purple color. Cassis and lead pencil on the nose. Good structure; balanced tannin and acidity. Juicy wine with medium body and finish. I have never tasted a Behrens Family wine that was austere in any way. This was typically delicious and easy to drink. (2194 views)
Tasted by Fishboy on 11/4/2011 & rated 90 points: Consistent notes (2709 views)
Tasted by Rolster72 on 9/18/2011 & rated 91 points: Decanted and drank by itself. Rich dark colour with a complex nose - some pepper there. Found the wine to be rich but elegant with a smooth finish. The blend works well and leaves me want another one. Will be interested to see how it ages. (2554 views)
Tasted by mxpbuy on 9/17/2011 & rated 92 points: Sampled 9/16/11. Decanted 2 hours. Definitely a modern Bordeaux profile. Good Cab fruit starts if off but the 11% Petit Verdot and non-Bordeaux 7% Syrah really give it a kick. Beside loads of well structured black fruits, there is some menthol and sweet vanilla Oak. A very good wine that could improve. (2055 views)
Tasted by cookie7 on 5/8/2011 & rated 89 points: Black and blue fruit on the nose. Dark fruit on the palate with some black pepper. Long finish. Nice wine but not a great QPR. (2149 views)
Tasted by gcubanl on 12/31/2010 & rated 90 points: Happy New Years to one and all. (2329 views)
Tasted by The Wine Write on 9/18/2010 & rated 91 points: Had with steak. Great pairing. Wine was very smooth & elegant. Dark fruit with dark chocolate on the back palate. Excellent. (2273 views)
Tasted by golfwine on 6/5/2010 & rated 89 points: In a word, SOLID. (I know, this isn't my usually verbose review but it was the fourth bottle into a night with long-lost friends & good conversation.) I can say that it was short of "Outstanding". (2451 views)
Tasted by Fishboy on 3/19/2010 & rated 90 points: Great blend. Still young. Will be interested to see how this continues to develop. (2482 views)
Tasted by Drankthewholebottle on 12/22/2009 & rated 92 points: Forgot tasting notes, but characteristic Les Behrens style blend. Will buy another one. (2617 views)

USA

American wine has been produced since the 1500s, with the first widespread production beginning in New Mexico in 1628. Today, wine production is undertaken in all fifty states, with California producing 84% of all U.S. wine. The continent of North America is home to several native species of grape, including Vitis labrusca, Vitis riparia, Vitis rotundifolia, and Vitis vulpina, but the wine-making industry is based almost entirely on the cultivation of the European Vitis vinifera, which was introduced by European settlers. With more than 1,100,000 acres (4,500 km2) under vine, the United States is the fourth-largest wine producing country in the world, after Italy, Spain, and France.

2021 vintage: "Unlike almost all other areas of the state, the Russian River Valley had higher than normal crops in 2021, which has made for a wine of greater generosity and fruit forwardness than some of its stablemates." - Morgan Twain-Peterson
