Tasted by beatles on 11/24/2022 & rated 94 points: Great, great wine - if not for everyone. Paired again with a very fine piece of comté, this show saltiness, minerals, citrus, a bit of smoke. Layered wine. goes on and on. Long life ahead.

Tasted by pbaek on 9/9/2021: Every bit as wonderful as it has always been. It’s bone dry, complex and displaying a wonderful melange of melon, curry, almond, salty caramel and citrus notes. Bright acidity and great clarity but surely not facile a boire. What a treat. (684 views)
Tasted by beatles on 5/10/2017: A piece of comté is of paramount importance here to go with the sherry-like, ekstremely deep an intense wine, fry with a wonderful bitterness and saltyness; balanced. A mystery-wine, a drink for the afterthought.

Tasted by pbaek on 4/22/2017: An incredible wine paired with 24 month Comte and Reblechon. Very spicy with notes of curry, melon, caramel, citrus and salt. Complex with a refreshing minerality. Riveting stuff, but also not for everyone's taste. (1168 views)
Tasted by AtoZ on 7/22/2016: Calmed way down from prior bottle. Clay was a good descriptor. In a good place. (1223 views)
Tasted by pbaek on 6/16/2016: Terrific. A wonderfully distinct and complex nose of salty caramel and melon. Fresh apple, pear, melon and almonds on the palate. Surprisingly fresh even with a hint of citrus underneath. Great pairing with cheeses. (1315 views)
Tasted by farinas on 10/25/2015: At Pied de Terre.First encounter with Savagnin or any other Jura for that case. Very impressive. The bouquet is so much richer than expected with pear and green apple, while the palate has great tension and dryness that juxtapose yet resolve the aromatic combinations. To me it reminded me of a Rheingau Riesling on the nose, but totally different on the palate. (1312 views)
Tasted by pbaek on 8/12/2015: Stunnig tonight, so rich in flavors and complexity, sherry notes with hints of citrus, spices, caramel and so much more. Not a facile wine for sure, a wine that requires food - veal, chicken, fish or cheeses. Will certainly live on for decades to come. (883 views)
Tasted by pbaek on 10/31/2014: A distinct nose of almonds/marzipan, a surprisingly fresh palate of hazelnut, honey melon, green fruits and sherry. Sensational wine with various cheeses. Wow. (1186 views)
Tasted by AtoZ on 7/27/2013 & rated 90 points: This was major acetone. Am told it needs more time. Not an easy drinker. (1766 views)
Tasted by rhit on 2/21/2013: Another great bottle. Salt, sherry, caramel, and minerals. Seamless and delicious. (2101 views)
Tasted by pbaek on 5/25/2012: Classic Puffeney Savagnin with oxidized, nutty flavors along with marks of melon, lime and honey. Very distinct wine, not for everyone, but I love it. Great match with Beaufort. Happy to have this in my cellar. (2584 views)
Tasted by WetRock on 5/9/2012: Strong, classic Manzanilla Sherry like nose of nuts and cheese along with notes of salty herbal fish. Sharp palate with that Savagnin tinge kicking in on the back end, almost with a pucker. Lots of acid and clean. Powerful in expression, full of fruit yet lean in feel. Good stuff though a bit more sour than many would like. I like this though I would like to see more Savagnin and Chardonnay blends from the Jura versus the single variety wines. The blends I've had work very well and I think the grapes offer the right differences to make superior wines together. (2667 views)
Tasted by sebastienjm on 1/16/2012 & rated 90 points: Powerful nose on nuts, curry with delicious aromas of butter, toffee and sweet spices. Good volume in the mouth with a superb finish thats just fresh enough and flavorful... it just goes on and on!

Vraiment bon. (2565 views)
Tasted by rhit on 1/9/2011: This packed some in-your-face acetone and nutty aromas, a watery, fresh palate, and finished with a pretty remarkable salty accent... almost like munching on a salted cashew or peanut. Enjoyable as every other Puffeney I've had. Next time will be with appropriate cheese, hopefully. (2651 views)
Tasted by mdavis on 12/20/2010: Pretty typical for a 2005...very much oxidized...if that is not your thing... (2400 views)
Tasted by StephenE05 on 7/21/2010: VVery reminiscent of sherry, with lower alcohol. My husband did not like! But I kind of did... (2381 views)
Tasted by pbjosh on 5/7/2010 & rated 92 points: Initially a blast of paint remover that does blow off. Clearly oxidative / sherried notes abound ... marzipan, hazelnut, tangy salty with some lemon rind and really strong minerality as well. The sherry character continues to the palate with screaming acidity, marzipan, hazelnut and walnut and nut-like tannin and again great crunchy minerality. Very good concentration and length. A divisive style for sure but I dig it and a very good wine if you do. (2466 views)

Jura

A petite and relatively obscure wine region in eastern France, between Burgundy and the Swiss border. Its geographical isolation has helped it to remain a rare bastion of traditional winemaking techniques, and today it produces some of the most distinctive wines in the world. Reds from the Jura are often light-bodied, earthy, berried, and reminiscent of the village wines of Burgundy (though here they are made of local grapes like Poulsard and Trousseau). While Chardonnay features widely, the true specialty of the region is the Vin Jaune (“yellow wine”) made from the white Savagnin grape. Cloudy, difficult Vin Jaune is made only in the best vintages, and must be aged for at least six years before being released. As it ages under a layer of yeast, known locally as “voile,” the wine slowly oxidizes, leading to complex aromas and flavors that range from walnut skin to sultana to spices and truffles. Famously long lived it is always sold in dumpy 62 cl bottle - the wine lost in production having been taken by les anges.
