Tasted by sma on 7/30/2018 & rated 91 points: Deep garnet in color that does not think at edges. Dense black fruit with deep complexity of flavors, earthy, leather, cedar. Well balanced overall with smooth tannin that suggest it is at its peak. (1327 views)
Tasted by treaganjr on 2/12/2018: Great wine (1373 views)
Tasted by shaffej on 12/19/2015 & rated 91 points: Finally starting to show some complexity although still very dense. My last bottle after 6 and I'm thinking I should be on my 2nd bottle as this appears to just now be starting to open up. (2204 views)
Tasted by td1836 on 4/22/2015 & rated 92 points: Drinking at peak right now. Juicy, dense, sweet fruit, some spiciness. (2423 views)
Tasted by Halfeel on 3/21/2015 & rated 92 points: This 2007 Zin is still drinking quite nicely. (2699 views)
Tasted by shaffej on 1/26/2015 & rated 86 points: Not a great representation of a Napa Zin. Still one dimensional, tanic with little fruit to be had. (1948 views)
Tasted by shaffej on 3/9/2014 & rated 86 points: Dense, dark and lacking in spice or fruit. It was pretty much one dimensional. (2569 views)
Tasted by lreynolds on 9/27/2013: 9th grade parent social really good (2124 views)
Tasted by dfresh on 6/1/2013 & rated 91 points: Austere, minerals, pepper and raisins. Sight prune notes. Wish it had a bit more fruit but still delivers great value. (2213 views)
Tasted by td1836 on 5/9/2013 & rated 91 points: Very balanced zin. Restrained black fruits that integrate beautifully with the earthy characteristics. You do notice the oak, but it isn't too big. Spicy on the long finish. Plenty of life left in this one. (463 views)
Tasted by wpiers on 5/5/2013 & rated 91 points: Very enjoyable, purple, smokey, nice level of oak. (2151 views)
Tasted by dfresh on 5/1/2013 & rated 92 points: This wine is really intriguing. My first three bottles, I missed the fruit forward elements and thought it was defective, or at least less than satisfactory. This time around after reading other CT comments about what a real zin is meant to be, I changed my mindset to focusing on the balance, focus and earthiness. And I liked it better, so I'm a believer! Sorry for my schizophrenic scoring but what are you going to do! (2029 views)
Tasted by krvw on 4/22/2013 & rated 91 points: Superb zin. (1840 views)
Tasted by jeffreymmckay on 4/8/2013: Anyone looking for a big, jammy fruity zin should look elsewhere. This wine is earth and minerals, as really great zin should be. (1439 views)
Tasted by dfresh on 3/31/2013 & rated 90 points: With an hour of decant time and served chilled it was enjoyable. But it still lacks the fruit and ripeness I like in a Zin. (922 views)
Tasted by jcj on 3/18/2013 & rated 91 points: Nicely balanced. Drinking well now. (1441 views)
Tasted by dfresh on 3/8/2013 & rated 85 points: I am really let down by other CT scores. I should have listened to James Laube, he gave this an 83. Hot, flabby and no fruit. That's the tri feta of bad juice. (953 views)
Tasted by dfresh on 3/3/2013 & rated 87 points: Was expecting more based on CT ratings. I noticed that WS gave it an 83 points. Do they know something? Dominated by prunes. (910 views)
Tasted by ogres3 on 2/6/2013 & rated 92 points: Great zin. Had with home made carnitas. Excellent pairing. Introduced to this wine by Don Gillette of NVWE and bought some more. Great nose. Great fruit. Love these wines that aren't internationally rated but are excellent. (1033 views)
Tasted by cellar designer on 1/28/2013 & rated 92 points: Reasonable value, full bodied and drinkable now. Tannin had a soft bite and finish is a bit curious, no one was complaining. (1038 views)
Tasted by Venezia on 1/6/2013 & rated 91 points: Bright berry and mellow tannins. Nicely done (1056 views)
Tasted by HungryMother on 11/29/2012 & rated 92 points: This wine has developed beautifully. Balanced, rich - spice, pepper, and mellowed fruit (my husband described as "fruit backward"). Light tannins; smooth finish. Paired with Neapolitan wood fired pizzas and charcuterie. Wish we had more. (1356 views)
Tasted by ogres3 on 11/3/2012: Average bottle on night #1 but morphed into an excellent zin on night #2. Great fruit, good finish. (1356 views)
Tasted by ecola on 10/2/2012 & rated 90 points: Big dark fruit and a fair amount of oak here. Bright acidity and a little spice. Juicy, yet dry finish. (1511 views)
Tasted by ogres3 on 9/18/2012: Nice mix of fruit in a very good wine flying under the radar. (1563 views)

USA

American wine has been produced since the 1500s, with the first widespread production beginning in New Mexico in 1628. Today, wine production is undertaken in all fifty states, with California producing 84% of all U.S. wine. The continent of North America is home to several native species of grape, including Vitis labrusca, Vitis riparia, Vitis rotundifolia, and Vitis vulpina, but the wine-making industry is based almost entirely on the cultivation of the European Vitis vinifera, which was introduced by European settlers. With more than 1,100,000 acres (4,500 km2) under vine, the United States is the fourth-largest wine producing country in the world, after Italy, Spain, and France.

2021 vintage: "Unlike almost all other areas of the state, the Russian River Valley had higher than normal crops in 2021, which has made for a wine of greater generosity and fruit forwardness than some of its stablemates." - Morgan Twain-Peterson
