Tasted by njgolfer on 11/10/2019 & rated 92 points: Great balance. Tasted over 2 days. Dark red fruits, blackberries, hints of leather, licorice. Well intergrated tannins. Enough body to go another two years or so. (1785 views)
Tasted by redz on 1/3/2018 & rated 92 points: Agree with previous review, on the sweet side, plum, with a hint of prune. Easy drinker, merlot smooths out the Syrah well. 3 hrs decant helped. probably should drink my last bottle soon, maybe longer decant... (3086 views)
Tasted by wino121 on 3/27/2016 & rated 91 points: Decanted an hour,
Smoking nose, which after 3 hrs the tail just catches up barely, this needs even more time, nicely wound taninns with oak, blue fruit predictedly in the mix, a short finish now but with a Med cellaring this will hammer out.
Try again in 2018.
Good juice- (4915 views)
Tasted by alpha_ori on 12/15/2015 & rated 92 points: Nose is reticent. I get pull out cherry sweet rolls and a bit of Chambord. On the palate, just the barest suggestion of fruit; like a non-sweet cherry syrup. But the secondary flavors are quite good: Soy sauce and maybe just a touch of spice and black tea. With some time in the glass, the fruit becomes more prominent in both the nose and the palate. That’s not usually the way it goes, but that’s the way it happened for me.

When it touches my palate, it's a much softer texture than I remember from my last bottle. But at the end there are spikes of acid and just a hint of fine drying tannin that give it some assertiveness and backbone and prevent me from saying that it is fully resolved. Still, I’m not sure how long I’d wait before drinking this one. (5103 views)
Tasted by bdlsmoran on 8/31/2015 & rated 90 points: PnP, I wish I would have waited. The last glass was better than the first. It took a couple hours until the fruit really started to come out. Paired with aged Gouda, worked well with the Syrah/Merlot blend. I will hold the next bottle for a couple years or so. (5389 views)
Tasted by cwiebe on 5/19/2015 & rated 90 points: Consistent with prior bottles. (4575 views)
Tasted by David_T on 4/24/2015 & rated 90 points: Aromas of black currant, blackberry, meat and a hint of cedar. The palate matches with medium tannins and acid. Agree this is drinking well now but no hurry. (3539 views)
Tasted by 1961Vintage on 4/22/2015 & rated 92 points: Solid and in a great spot right now. (2415 views)
Tasted by qcwino on 3/30/2015: Pop and pour. Great right out the bottle. Black fruit, pepper, and soft oak. Medium + finish. Gained a little more weight and sweetness with a couple hours of being open. This wine is in a really good place right now. (2410 views)
Tasted by tcarter on 3/6/2015 & rated 89 points: Not loving this wine. This was my last bottle but don't think they'll last so much longer. (2255 views)
Tasted by tshepard on 1/30/2015 & rated 90 points: This wine just tastes clean all the way through the back. It has the fruit of the syrah, but it is mellowed by the merlot and so it doesn't overpower you. Best after being open about 1 hour. Had it with pork ribs and it was perfect. 55% syrah, 35% merlot (2216 views)
Tasted by peternelson on 12/9/2014 & rated 91 points: Quite impressive with lots of pure red and black fruit, judicious oak, pretty dense but not messy, clean long finish. Made by Michael Browne of Kosta Browne; Syrah and Merlot (!). Brian and Jen's. (2663 views)
Tasted by grover91 on 5/29/2014 & rated 92 points: Awesome!! Great fruit. Well balanced and structured. Recommend decanting. Wish I had bought a case. (3972 views)
Tasted by kietkopelli on 2/9/2014 & rated 90 points: This is a pretty good wine but lightweight for a CA Syrah. Nose has ripe dark fruits but not jammy. Body is underwhelming with light peppers, toasty oak and herbs. Finishes a bit short for my liking. (4518 views)
Tasted by 1961Vintage on 12/25/2013 & rated 91 points: Consistent with other notes. Well made! (4498 views)
Tasted by mxpbuy on 12/22/2013 & rated 90 points: A solid wine. Black and blue fruit forward with a few sweet Oak notes. Smooth but still some decent tannin structure underneath. (4228 views)
Tasted by tshepard on 12/7/2013 & rated 89 points: Medium body. Not overly fruity. Smooth finish. Good wine. (4208 views)
Tasted by diananm on 12/5/2013 & rated 89 points: Long decant, still extremely tannic. But nice nose, fruit, and finish. Still needs aging. (3562 views)
Tasted by mrpaper126@gmail.com on 11/6/2013 & rated 91 points: Needed about 1 1/2 hours to show its stuff, big bold Syrah forward wine that began to come together just as the last glasses were poured. Give it a few years to integrate or drink now with a long decant. (3273 views)
Tasted by scott w on 11/4/2013 & rated 89 points: Was not sure I would like this blend, dark fruit good acid, a delicious crowd pleaser. (3133 views)
Tasted by Lessthanzero on 10/20/2013: Yummy, but a bit concentrated right now. Recommend long decant or wait a couple of years. (3173 views)
Tasted by wiscgrad on 8/30/2013 & rated 91 points: needed 2+ hours to open up. once it did, really nice syrah notes. (3487 views)
Tasted by Dave Dalluge on 8/24/2013 & rated 92 points: No notes taken, but this was quite good. Expressive and elegant nose of mainly red fruit. Equally elegant on the palate, with good flavor intensity. Different (and better) than I expected. Paired very well with filet mignon, bernaise, and porcini risotto. (3446 views)
Tasted by Kburriss on 8/9/2013 & rated 90 points: The wine looks Ruby colored. The legs are Medium. It smells like and Blackberry. The body is Light/Medium. The wine has Smooth texture. The wine finishes Medium. (3443 views)
Tasted by kenhoeve on 8/8/2013 & rated 93 points: Showing better, with some perfume and the sharp syrah being slightly less abrupt. Again, what I like about this wine is how well the syrah and merlot are balanced, they fill in all the nooks and crannies of each other. It also moves extremely well from high tones to low tones while being seamless and round. Generous on the pop and pour but lightens quickly on the palate with very fine grained drying tannin. Gobs of fruit in this bottle but it is very well tempered by plenty of earth tones.

After a few hours open, this calms considerably and an intense, wound core of perfume and fresh berries dominates the palate. This, for me, indicates good things. I think this gets better. 93+ (3317 views)

USA

American wine has been produced since the 1500s, with the first widespread production beginning in New Mexico in 1628. Today, wine production is undertaken in all fifty states, with California producing 84% of all U.S. wine. The continent of North America is home to several native species of grape, including Vitis labrusca, Vitis riparia, Vitis rotundifolia, and Vitis vulpina, but the wine-making industry is based almost entirely on the cultivation of the European Vitis vinifera, which was introduced by European settlers. With more than 1,100,000 acres (4,500 km2) under vine, the United States is the fourth-largest wine producing country in the world, after Italy, Spain, and France.

2021 vintage: "Unlike almost all other areas of the state, the Russian River Valley had higher than normal crops in 2021, which has made for a wine of greater generosity and fruit forwardness than some of its stablemates." - Morgan Twain-Peterson
