Tasted by beatles on 3/27/2024 & rated 93 points: Thought it worth it to look at this again. Still very young, but certainly more mature; sweet Grenache. spicy Mourvèdre, good local feel. Pronounced tannin, ends dry, serve some lamb with this.

Tasted by vinojones on 12/14/2023 & rated 92 points: Dark garnet; nose is nice combination of blackberry, dark plum and mildly stewed cherries; medium body, tannin shows but is not overpowering, light crisp body with fairly long dry finish (431 views)
Tasted by oenanthe on 3/25/2023 & rated 90 points: Dark red with some browning. Initially muted, but air is this wine's friend, and as you go on the fruit really comes out. It is rich, lush, big and round. Dark plum, cassis, herbs including mint. It is quite balanced on the mid palate, soft and attractive, very moreish actually. It is however a little astringent on the finish, a product of the very high 15.5% ABV. This seems to dissipate with time, but I am not sure even a long decant would sort this out fully. Really wish that grenache didn't do this! At say 14% this would have been truly amazing, as it is it loses a few points I'm afraid. (903 views)
Tasted by beatles on 12/16/2021 & rated 94 points: Here goes - bottle no 2 from the case. Popped and poured, then tasted over two days. PB liked it, talked of the white pepper here, and I agree - it has real class, albeit at a very young stage. The fruit is dense and ripe, sweet Grenache speaks, but it retains freshness and som spicy elements, that really helps. A very good lift at the end. Can be enjoyed now after a decant - better to wait a bit.

Tasted by thehaughleydrinker on 2/4/2021 & rated 88 points: I think we left this a little too long before opening. Good enough, but at 30 euros, could not be considered good value for money. (1938 views)
Tasted by TNK on 6/25/2020 & rated 89 points: This is a brute of a wine. Was shocked at opening magnum how powerful and alcoholic it was (15.5%). Had serious doubts but decanted for 5 hours and it mellowed out. Still very strong fruity flavours and rich heaviness. Will probably leave it a good few years before I open another one. (2192 views)
Tasted by champussi on 1/25/2020 & rated 93 points: Toller Ch9!! Die 15%Vol sind nahezu perfekt versteckt!! Nichts marmeladiges oder überreifes! Schöne Struktur! Kann auch noch etwas reifen. Für mehr fehlt ein wenig Mitteldruck! Gute Länge! Schon sehr schön zu trinken! 93 +P (2146 views)
Tasted by David J Cooper on 12/14/2019 flawed bottle: Dead. Just never seemed to come to life. Gave it 3 hours then down the drain. (1955 views)
Tasted by gtilley on 12/9/2019: Really great. Complex nose of mint, chocolate, stewed dark fruits. Grainy, grippy tannins that soften up with air. Just so moreish. (1701 views)
Tasted by David J Cooper on 11/26/2019 & rated 91 points: Just starting to develop. Nice balanced CdP now with room to improve. (1726 views)
Tasted by beatles on 10/28/2019 & rated 93 points: First bottle of 12 - very, very young and primary indeed; initially a smooth operator, but with air it gains a local feel with more garrigue and character behind the sweet grenache. This is very good, veru balanced, cool, but generous - and will improve. (2026 views)
Tasted by jdp2109 on 9/29/2019 & rated 92 points: In a great place right now. Decanted for 30 minutes, then poured back in bottle and drank over 4 hours. Very balanced. Mild tannins. Not too complex, but delicious fruit. I think at its peak and would drink within next couple of years. (1444 views)
Tasted by Burgundynick on 2/8/2019 & rated 88 points: An archetypal CnDP with lots of earthy animal notes, with lots of red/black fruit and some tobacco – dependable rather than enthralling 88 points (1771 views)
Tasted by wiscgrad on 2/10/2018 & rated 87 points: Just ok, maybe an off bottle. was expecting more at this price point and the pro scores. just drank like a solid cotes du rhone (2394 views)
Tasted by Life At Your Leisure 🍷 on 9/26/2017 & rated 92 points: Tasted blind. Dark purple color turning ruby violet toward the rim with a reflective edge. I was mistaken to think this came from the New World because of its full body, velvety texture and super ripe blackberry and cola notes. But then, 2010 was quite a ripe vintage in the Rhone. Finishes long and smooth with hints of coal and black pepper. Drink now until 2030. (1069 views)
Tasted by DonDon on 7/14/2017 & rated 93 points: Short note sorry but this really is delicious. I had this when camping with sweet BBQ ribs and it was beautiful (3177 views)
Tasted by henryd1 on 5/10/2017 & rated 91 points: No proper note, but this seemed a very solid CNDP, if nothing extraordinary. (3136 views)
Tasted by DonDon on 11/9/2015 & rated 93 points: I thought this was spectacularly good for the price and I enjoyed this more than the Les Hautes Brusquières which I also have. Beautiful nose and a good length. Very elegant. Strong cherry and red fruit flavours. Delicious (4087 views)
Tasted by cliffkol on 5/26/2012 & rated 90 points: Chateauneuf du Pape, France - Tasted at Domaine: Single vineyard wine (Mourre des Perdrix plot). Medium bodied with big, mouth filling tannnins. Will need a few years to resolve. Light nose of cherries, earth and spices. On the palate flavors of dark cherries, smoke, stones. Well structured. Not as deep and delicious as the classic CdP though. Needs 5 yrs aging. (6983 views)
Tasted by rjonwine@gmail.com on 3/26/2012 & rated 93 points: 2010 Chateauneuf-du-Papes (Angeles Wine Agency Trade Tasting) (Fort Mason Conference Center, San Francisco, California): Dark ruby color; lovely, tart berry, berry liqueur, cherry nose; tight, tart berry, berry liqueur, cherry palate; needs 5-plus years; medium-plus finish 93+ points (70% Grenache, 15% Syrah, 15% Mourvedre) (1866 views)
Tasted by Jeff Leve on 3/21/2012 & rated 92 points: Earth, herbs, fresh cherries and spice, this medium bodied, elegant, supple textured, Chateauneuf du Pape should drink well young. (5264 views)
Tasted by KeithAkers on 1/16/2012 & rated 92 points: Alain Junguenet Selections-2010 CdPs (Benny's Chop House Chicago IL): nose: very meaty nose with dark tones of black fruits, dark red fruits, black licorice and some bits of liqueur as well. Extremely good depth shows through some of the tightness

taste: medium/full bodied with chewy tannins and very good depth. Balanced with great tones of meats, black fruits, dark red fruits, black licorice and spice tones

overall: This will certainly need time. Balanced with real good depth and a very savory quality on both the nose and palate (5667 views)

AOC Red Châteauneuf du Pape
Cuvée Hautes Brusquières

Grape varieties :
This cuvee is made up of Grenache (70%) and Syrah (30%)
The vines are between 30 to 50 years old.
Situation and soil type :
All the grapes come from the Brusquières plateau, in the north of Châteauneuf du Pape, where we can find the famous round pebbles and a clayey subsoil
Vats :
Wood and stainless steel with temperature control

Vatting :
Since 2000, we have decided to destem and to crush all grapes
Vatting lasts 3 to 5 weeks, depending on the vintage at a temperature between 25 and 30°C
A release or a punching of the cap is done every 2 days and pumping over every day.
The malolactic fermentation happens in barrels and vats.
Ageing :
Ageing continues in barrels and big oak tanks during 12 – 18 months depending on the vintage.
Tasting :
This is an atypical cuvee in terms of its complexity of aromas: deep spice, black fruit flavors and chocolate notes are overlaid with leather and a wild complexity.
This complex nectar needs a long cellaring to 15 years from vintage.
Further information:
The cuvee bottled without filtration is stocked in our warehouse air-conditioned at 16°C.

Red Rhone Blend

Read about the different grapes used to produce red and white Rhone wines
On CellarTracker, Red Rhone Blend is the term for a wine consisting of two or more of the traditional 13 Southern Rhone grape varieties. Typically it's the Grenache, Syrah, Mourvedre or Cinsault grapes, but can also contain the Muscardin, Counoise, Clairette, Bourboulenc, Picpoul, Roussanne, Terret Noir, Picardan or Vaccarese grapes.

A 'food' wine. Lacking pretension and intended for local consumption with local cuisine. Lacks the 'high' notes on a Bordeaux, more earthy and sharper so often a better partner to meat dishes with a sauce.

"As I have written many times in the past, the sweet spot for drinking Châteauneuf du Papes is usually the first 5-6 years after the vintage. Then they seem to go through an adolescent, awkward, and sometimes dormant stage, only to re-emerge around year 10-12, where the majority of wines are often fully mature. The best of them will continue to hold on to life (but rarely improving) beyond 15-20 years. It is only the exceptional Châteauneuf du Papes that will evolve for 20-25+ years, and those are indeed a rarity. However, things may be improving dramatically in terms of the longevity of Châteauneuf du Pape, although Grenache-dominated wines, the vast majority of wines produced in the appellation, are wines that do not have the polyphenol (extract and tannin) content of top Cabernet Sauvignons, Merlots, or Syrah-based wines. Nevertheless, the younger generation in Châteauneuf du Pape has taken seriously the farming in the vineyards. There are more organic and biodynamically run vineyards here than in any other appellation of France. The yields, which were already low, are even lower today (20-35 hectoliters per hectare), and of course, the proliferation of top luxury and/or old-vine cuvées gives a significant boost to the number of wines that will evolve past 25 or 30 years. The advantage of these wines is their broad window of drinkability." - Robert Parker
