| Community Tasting Notes | | Tasted by 97mjr on 2/26/2006: [Stromboli] Super extracted, syruping, sweet red fruit, raspberry, cherry, licorce; a good QPR, but not a strong buy (1895 views) | | Tasted by EPounds on 4/2/2005: This wine is loaded with ripe blackberry aromas and a ton of spice. Very fun wine that went great with baby back ribs. (2309 views) | | Tasted by 97mjr on 10/14/2004: Winery Tour and Tasting: Siduri/Novy (Santa Rosa, CA): ($17) medium bodied zin, big ripe red fruit, spice; fun wine, nice value, purchased 2 bottles (2969 views) | | Tasted by EPounds on 9/18/2004: Rich Ruby color that was a bit hazy. Very ripe on the nose that was a bit prune with a hint of alcohol. Like many ripe Zins I have had, this nose climbs way out of the glass. There is a bit of tangyness on the initial taste, which is replaced by rich berries similar to the nose. There is some oak present on the finish and it falls of a little early. I look forward to seeing if the finish develops more as it cellars for a few years. Highly recommended for the $17 retail price. Very good, spicy nose. Nice full body and good finish. Quite enjoyable, especially for $17! (3364 views) |
| Novy Family Wines Producer WebsiteZinfandel ZAP: Zinfandel Advocates & Producers | Varietal character (Appellation America) | Wikipedia-ZinfandelUSAAmerican wine has been produced since the 1500s, with the first widespread production beginning in New Mexico in 1628. Today, wine production is undertaken in all fifty states, with California producing 84% of all U.S. wine. The continent of North America is home to several native species of grape, including Vitis labrusca, Vitis riparia, Vitis rotundifolia, and Vitis vulpina, but the wine-making industry is based almost entirely on the cultivation of the European Vitis vinifera, which was introduced by European settlers. With more than 1,100,000 acres (4,500 km2) under vine, the United States is the fourth-largest wine producing country in the world, after Italy, Spain, and France.California2021 vintage: "Unlike almost all other areas of the state, the Russian River Valley had higher than normal crops in 2021, which has made for a wine of greater generosity and fruit forwardness than some of its stablemates." - Morgan Twain-Peterson Sonoma CountyMendocino CountyRussian River Valley Russian River Valley Winegrowers Association | Wikipedia |
