Tasted by jhngo on 12/9/2022 & rated 97 points: stunning Chablis! Just powerful stony flinty sea spray goodness. Concentrated fruit on the palate acids resolving nicely. A gorgeous Chablis and hands down winner of the night. (672 views)
Tasted by jhngo on 5/29/2022 & rated 95 points: This was delicious with typical rav nose and waxy finish killer. (1021 views)
Tasted by evanlodes on 4/19/2022: very tight upon open with minimal nose. after 5 hours of decant, showed more floral notes but acidity is lacking. Overall a disappointment for Raveneau. On day two much better but still short of expectations.

Tasted by Burgundy Al on 3/12/2022 & rated 90 points: La Paulée de New York Gala Dinner (Pier Sixty, Chelsea Piers - New York NY): Small La Paulee pour. Nicely rich, slightly burly for Raveneau. Good life ahead of it. (1738 views)
Tasted by jhngo on 7/16/2021 & rated 97 points: Super flinty nose. Oyster shells matchsticks on the palate with rich mouthfeel. One of the best I've had! wow! (1482 views)
Tasted by mrbry83 on 12/25/2020 flawed bottle: Corked (1332 views)
Tasted by rlove on 9/8/2020 & rated 90 points: Raveneau's 2005 Forêt offers a ripe bouquet of pear, lime, mixed florals, and just a whisper of oyster shell. Medium-full body, broad shouldered, supporting ripe orchard fruit. If I hadn't had this cuvée before I might say this is advanced but it has drunk with relative ripeness and flab since release. (1360 views)
Tasted by acyso on 5/18/2019 & rated 90 points: HDH Burgundy Auction; 5/17/2019-5/18/2019 (Chicago, IL): A little riper and sweeter than I like for chablis -- this is fairly ripe with a beautiful generosity of fruit. However, I think this is a little more blowsy and ripe, and the salinity, citrus, and cut are a bit missing here. Won't turn down a glass of this ever, but with the prices blowing up as they are, not sure it's something I'd chase. (2550 views)
Tasted by Burgundy Al on 5/18/2019 & rated 90 points: Wines Tasted at HDH Auction (Spiaggia - Chicago IL): Small glass, brief note. Ripe apple and lemon with a bright enough edge from middle forward to show typicity. Good+ weight, volume and length. Good now. (2126 views)
Tasted by danstrings on 5/2/2018 & rated 93 points: Gorgeous Raveneau with exotic notes and amazing balance. Medium gold color, fresh minerally spicy nose with exotic oils, citrus, a hint of truffle and some reduction. Silky round mouthfeel, balanced, great food wine. (1787 views)
Tasted by danielbleier on 4/22/2018: No detailed notes (so no score) but had this side by side with a Dauvissat Chablis of the same vintage, and both were excellent. (1446 views)
Tasted by Ms. Bubblehead on 2/22/2018 & rated 91 points: Lemon peel, sea salt, citrus cream, getting structure of fruit and minerality at the same time. Showing more weight vs Dauvissat's style, maybe due to its slightly higher oak influence. Enjoyed drinking this, as always. (1860 views)
Tasted by Cote d'Or on 6/17/2017: Tasted over 3 hrs
-translucent med gold
-saline mineral mild lanolin/mature elements
-med acidity, med- weight but powerful elegant sappy silky mineral trace backend heat with long finish, not overly complex
-in early maturity but no hurry, stylistically very Raveneau (1501 views)
Tasted by 100pp on 2/4/2017 & rated 94 points: Lots of minerality, ripe apples, almond. Long. Delicious but maybe misses the delicacy and layers of the Grand Crus. (1705 views)
Tasted by cos82 on 7/15/2016 & rated 89 points: Others liked this better than me. Very pale almost like water. Very soft. Some minerals , but mostly lemon on the palate. Not a lot of nose. (1143 views)
Tasted by drwine2001 on 9/19/2015: Light yellow. White flowers and lemon aromatics. Medium weight (actually lighter and more airy than usual for Raveneau). Gorgeous citrus at 10 years of age, seashell, a touch of hazelnut, and fine acidity for the vintage. Surprisingly delicate for a Raveneau and beautifully structured and balanced for a 2005-not a gram of excess fat. A much better impression than the one other time I have tasted this, when it seemed dull and overly endowed with sulfur. (2262 views)
Tasted by jhngo on 7/3/2015 & rated 97 points: extracted stone fruits lovely waxy Chablis notes. great wine. (2079 views)
Tasted by PJRONeill on 5/13/2015 & rated 89 points: Another ho-hum bottle. Somewhat flat and unyielding with hints of salinity and citrus. A tab more developed on night two but still not particularly exciting. (1920 views)
Tasted by johnh1001 on 11/7/2014 & rated 89 points: Raveneau Dinner (Les Nomades Chicago): Much more stern, dense and emphasizing minerality. (2762 views)
Tasted by Burgundy Al on 9/30/2014 & rated 90 points: Raveneau Dinner (Young and Mid-Aged Wines) (Les Nomades - Chicago IL): Tasted blind in Raveneau Forets flight. Biggest and most dense of the three vintages in the flight, but least complex and nuanced for now. Needs more time in cellar. (3062 views)
Tasted by NNV on 9/20/2014 & rated 91 points: R91-92. Solid wine. Needs a bit more time to develop or it's just that the Foret doesn't have the same deep flavors as Butteaux or MDT. Decanted (which is necessary). Enjoyed it but not love, do prefer the Butteaux and MDT sites. (1549 views)
Tasted by danstrings on 6/14/2014 & rated 92 points: Lovely Forets just barely starting to show hints of development. Classic seashell meets truffle-y crushed minerals and frozen candied lime. Heaven with mussels, sashimi etc we had. (1832 views)
Tasted by PJRONeill on 5/10/2014 flawed bottle: Seriously poopy on opening…..after 45 minutes and a glass or two I gave up and stashed it in the fridge overnight before vigorously decanting it and letting it warm up this evening. The poop has largely dissipated, and what is left is a pleasant, round but somewhat one-dimensional wine, without a whole lot of excitement.

I suspect the seal was a bit faulty - it wasn't unpleasant (not tonight, anyway), just dull and muted. (1674 views)
Tasted by drwine2001 on 3/26/2014: Light yellow. Massive sulfur nose which was helped by decanting to reveal ripe lemony tones. Medium to lighter weight in Raveneau terms. After the citrus entry, some iodine and seashell. A bit stunted by the remaining sulfur, only average acidity and it just is missing a bit of verve and intensity. Pretty middling quality Raveneau-younger vines? (1709 views)
Tasted by PJRONeill on 11/10/2013: Medium-minus lemon color, beautiful nose of lemon, green apple, a little struck match. On the palate this is sharper and a bit more clinical than my first slightly flabbier bottle. Lots of juicy acidity, and a nice charge of salinity. A bit light in body, but lovely nonetheless. Burgundy

Les vins de Bourgogne (Bureau interprofessionnel des vins de Bourgogne) (and in English)

Burgundy - The province of eastern France, famous for its red wines produced from Pinot Noir and its whites produced from Chardonnay. (Small of amounts of Gamay and Aligoté are still grown, although these have to be labeled differently.) The most famous part of the region is known as the Cote d'Or (the Golden Slope). It is divided into the Cote de Beaune, south of the town of Beaune (famous principally for its whites), and the Cote de Nuits, North of Beaune (home of the most famous reds). In addition, the Cote Chalonnaise and the Maconnais are important wine growing regions, although historically a clear level (or more) below the Cote d'Or. Also included by some are the regions of Chablis and Auxerrois, farther north.

# 2013 Vintage Notes:
* "2013 is a vintage that 20 years ago would have been a disaster." - Will Lyons
* "low yields and highly variable reds, much better whites." - Bill Nanson
* "Virtually all wines were chaptalised, with a bit of sugar added before fermentation to increase the final alcohol level." - Jancis Robinson

# 2014 Vintage Notes:
"We have not had such splendid harvest weather for many years. This will ensure high quality (fragrant, classy and succulent are words already being used) across the board, up and down the hierarchy and well as consistently from south to north geographically apart from those vineyards ravaged by the hail at the end of June." - Clive Coates

# 2015 Vintage Notes:
"Low yields and warm weather allowed for ample ripeness, small berries and an early harvest. Quality is looking extremely fine, with some people whispering comparisons with the outstanding 2005 vintage. Acid levels in individual wines may be crucial." - Jancis Robinson

# 2017 Vintage Notes:
"Chablis suffered greatly from frost in 2017, resulting in very reduced volumes. As ever, the irony seems to be that what remains is very good quality, as it is in the Côte d’Or. Cooler nights across the region have resulted in higher-than-usual acidity, with good conditions throughout the harvest season allowing for ripe, healthy fruit." - Jancis Robinson

# 2018 Vintage Notes:
"The most successful region for red Burgundy in 2018 was the Côte de Beaune. The weather was ideal in this area, with just enough sunlight and rain to produce perfectly balanced wines naturally." - Vinfolio

Chablis

Chablis (Fédération de Défense de l'Appellation Chablis) | Chablis (Burgundy Wines)

2014 Vintage Notes:
"... a hybrid of 2004/2007 and 2010. The stone, citrus and limestone amalgam is exactly what we search for in Chablis as the style harkens to a day in the Cote de Beaune proper (1960's - 1980's) when wine was not meant to be consumed the week it was released, battonage was not used by all and new oak was rarely seen ... the texture is natural and 'of the vintage' not 'of the winemaker' .... Like Sancerre or the Loire in general, 2014 in Chablis is one of those rare years with extract and transparency. It appears to be a vintage for the "neoclassic" ages and those of us intent on cellaring the most terroir-driven (but still powerful) examples of vineyard, site-place and varietal will want to invest (heavily) in the magnetic and electric 2014's." - Jon Rimmerman

2018 Vintage Notes:
"There’s not that razor sharp Chablis acidity in 2018,” says Patrick Piuze. “But there is good definition of place. The dry conditions drove vines to drink deeper down in the soil profile."
