A generous offering from Michael M. Green gold. Slight sulphur. Intense pear aroma. Caramel. Intense burnt caramel flavor, with a slight acidic edge. A very tasty, balanced old-school dessert wine. (889 views) | | Tasted by asgerG on 12/7/2023 & rated 92 points: Vinklubben 1983's 40th anniversary X-mas dinner (Hos Sten): PnP Really spectacular golden-yellow coulor A bit shy sweet honey bouquet Totally fresh sweet palate, hA, mB, the acidity balance the sugar very well making it elegant. Drink now - for decades Thanks Hans (1022 views) | | Tasted by Claymonster on 11/23/2023 & rated 91 points: Thanksgiving Week 2023; 11/19/2023-11/24/2023: Our selection. PnPed and served slightly chilled with Thanksgiving desert (pumpkin pie and apple pie). 14%. Beautiful deep golden yellow in the glass. The nose and palate was pure Loire Chenin bliss with an explosion of honey. Some subtle hints of pear and apple too. But mostly honey, honey, and more honey. Dense, heavy, viscous body. Quite sweet and let down slightly by low acid level that would've provided some welcomed freshness if it was just dialed up a notch. Everyone liked it, but at the end of a Thanksgiving meal with bellies full and trying to shovel down pie, we all found it a bit too much. 1/3 of a bottle left in the fridge overnight, it showed no improvement or decline the next day but paired excellently with a cheese plate. This will age forever but I wonder what the upside would be. (1015 views) | | Tasted by NickA on 7/20/2023 & rated 93 points: Loire Wines of North London (Must & Lees): Barley sugar and bright ginger on the nose. Sweet, joyous and honeyed on the palate, which was long, energetic and grippy. Great on its own, even better with cheese. Fabulous. (1454 views) | | Tasted by Joshvoulters on 7/20/2023 & rated 92 points: TWS North London - Loire (Must & Lees, N1): Some botrytis, lavender, burnt sugar and lemon peel. Killer acidity, great level of sweetness and persistence. Lovely and - at 26 years - a baby. (1482 views) | | Tasted by ChristoBretts on 7/7/2023 & rated 91 points: Drank over three days. Lemon, apricot, almond. Similar to the palate, although medium-low intensity of flavors, perhaps a bit tight at this stage, not harsh in any way. Enjoyable now and a long life ahead. (977 views) | | Tasted by GTFreek on 6/1/2023: Highly aromatic nose shows candied pear, nuts, lemon sorbet, hint of sherry, motor oil in there. Palate shows medium sweetness but not syrupy, honeyed citrus, aged component of nuts, bruised pear, finishes with richness but it's all nicely balanced. Killer dessert pairing in that it doesn't overpower the dish. (948 views) | | Tasted by rexmerlot on 3/26/2023 & rated 91 points: Clear gold in colour. Notes of honey and apple. A nice wine, but drank a little flabby. The acid was not as high as I would have liked. Still a nice wine. (1207 views) | | Tasted by PLLU on 2/5/2023 & rated 94 points: As always a stunner with honey, apples and apricots in a complex combination. Vivid with high acidity. Lasts forever! (1177 views) | | Tasted by flussier on 1/14/2023 & rated 88 points: Belle robe dorée ambrée assez foncée. (1140 views) | | Tasted by olemski on 12/5/2022 & rated 91 points: My previous bottle, more than two years ago, was rather disappointing. There was nothing wrong about it, but there wasn't that much to it. This is different, though. It's an orange wine, but not an orange wine. The colour can not be described in any other way than a red-ish organge. The nose has honey, botrytis, orange marmelade and a hint of lemon. Rich, linear, focused and really satisfying. Clearly an outstanding wine despite the flash of acrid smoke or ash just before the after taste - a bit like the line of ash in a Morbier cheese. It does not bother me, though. Bought inexpensively in 2015. The previous not so satisfying bottle had me wonder if I should take this to auction, but I'm so pleased I didn't. (1243 views) | | Tasted by AudunG on 12/3/2022 & rated 93 points: Dark orange color. Lovely mature aromas, with honey and citrus. Ripe, velvety and generous on the palate, with balancing acidity. (1009 views) | | Tasted by mrgarreth on 11/22/2022 & rated 85 points: Sweet orchard fruits but lacking a bit in acidity throwing it off-balance. Plenty of concentration but just not enough complexity. Just a bit basic. (987 views) | | Tasted by thewiz on 11/12/2022 & rated 93 points: Pleasant sweetness on the palate that is well integrated with the citrus acidity and showing some botrytis and bitter almonds (Best 2017-2037) (675 views) | | Tasted by rossi.wine on 9/15/2022 flawed bottle: Disappointing bottle compared to previous experiences with this vintage. A slight cork/wet cardboard note, quite thin and unbalanced. (1538 views) | | Tasted by Pearcebarr on 4/18/2022 & rated 96 points: Enjoyed at Per Se poured by the glass
Apples, peaches, oranges, and pears that have all been poached in honey, that is cut by some modest acidity. Truly delightful, and was a treat with the aged comte and pate au choux course. (1635 views) | | Tasted by daffydahl on 4/17/2022 & rated 97 points: Fantastic value! Great wine with many years left. Super match with foie gras! Length with nice balance with small acidity, bitterness and sweetness. Refreshing. (1449 views) | | Tasted by platpeeps on 12/14/2021 & rated 96 points: Gold in colour with flavours of quince, honey and beeswax seasoned with a hint of white pepper. Medium sweet and luscious it has put on a little weight since last sampled, yet has still retained its core of freshness and acidity. The finish and length was sublime. Now getting into its stride, the wine has a long life ahead of it. CHP 96pts (1957 views) | | Tasted by Martin_G on 11/20/2021 & rated 92 points: Wow that is so beautiful. Paired with cheese. (1798 views) | | Tasted by platpeeps on 3/26/2021 & rated 91 points: Colour: Golden Straw Nose: Quince pear, toffee and a hint of mint. Palate: Quince pear and apple seasoned with a little honey to produce a medium sweet style. There underlying notes of toffee and mint. Retains plenty of acidity to keep it fresh tasting, and the lingering finish is sublime. Impression: Amazing. Can’t believe it’s 24 years old, still vibrant and going strong. Score 91 points (2453 views) | | Tasted by la turque on 2/13/2021 & rated 93 points: Lovely acidity will keep this wine ageing brilliantly for a good long time. Tropical fruits, in particular pineapple, on the nose, transitioning to quince, lanolin and apricot. Lovely. Drink now or in 10 years! (2358 views) | | Tasted by dbkitc on 9/20/2020 & rated 92 points: Outstanding. Very grape / sweet with bright acidity. Viscous. Will age forever. Young. (92+) (2505 views) | | Tasted by olemski on 6/7/2020 & rated 90 points: Softly spoken, well integrated sugar. Altogether rather low key - but worth listening to. (2516 views) | | Tasted by NickA on 6/4/2020 & rated 91 points: Ageworthy Loire white wines (Zoom!): Brilliant amber. Recognisably Chenin, quite delicate nose. Marmalade and burnt caramel on the palate. Lots of chew. Not terrifically sweet. Super fresh still. (2282 views) | | Tasted by acheng on 3/7/2020 & rated 92 points: Always delightful to drink from this producer and this does not disappoint. Moulin Touchais dates back to 1787, when the Touchais family first managed the wine estate. Eight generations on, it is still family owned and is amongst the most traditional properties in the Loire Valley. The traditional methods of viticulture are still in place; low-yields, careful harvesting and meticulous winemaking. Although they have been built upon and improved over the years. Moulin Touchais has one hundred and fifty hectares of vineyard, thirty five of which are dedicated to sweet wines of the Chenin Blanc grape. The harvesting strategy is to pick 20% of the grapes under ripe so they are still fresh and high in natural acidity, and 80% are picked late with the grapes yielding high sugar levels and concentrated flavours. This creates the smooth and elegant style of a Moulin Touchais wine. The fermentation process is spread over several weeks, and the wine is bottled early and cellared for a minimum of ten years before leaving under the Moulin Touchais name.Chenin Blanc Varietal character (Appellation America)France Vins de France (Office National Interprofessionnel des Vins ) | Pages Vins, Directory of French Winegrowers | French Wine (Wikipedia)
