Tasted by barrytaylor on 3/5/2020 & rated 90 points: the usual Scouts. Dark, full, fruit forward (1299 views)
Tasted by roybivens on 11/28/2017 & rated 91 points: Drinking very well. Slight effervescence on the front of the palate. Jammy and succulent. Great match for pork tenderloin. Also beautiful day 2. Time to drink up. Score [ 50 + 5 + 12 + 17 + 7 ] = 91. (2560 views)
Tasted by danscellar on 4/24/2016 & rated 88 points: Last bottle, a big dark Zin with plenty of fruit (3364 views)
Tasted by danscellar on 12/12/2015 & rated 89 points: This wine is very interesting. A bit of a fruit bomb but comes out of the bottle almost like it has a touch of carbonation, tends to go away after it is opened a bit. (3683 views)
Tasted by Night Train on 7/19/2015 & rated 91 points: If there's a lesson here, it's wasted on me (because this was my last bottle). The lesson is/was that this wine needs air and/or time in the bottle. Opened about an hour before drinking. Black raspberries on the nose and on the palate. Quite rich and viscous. Black pepper and various unidentified spices (not herbs). The fruit danced on my tongue (seriously) for 20 to 30 seconds after swallowing. Not at all hot, port-like, or raisiny. Terrific Zin. (3983 views)
Tasted by danscellar on 6/23/2015 & rated 90 points: No cork damage on this one, drank very nicely!! (3247 views)
Tasted by danscellar on 6/5/2015 & rated 87 points: Well I am mixed on this one, comeos out of the bottle a bit funky. Then seems to open up and be pretty good but not much complexity to it. The first bottle I opened was corked, wine seeped thru soft cork. Maybe I just had a bad attitude. I have more and will keep an open mnid. (2579 views)
Tasted by danscellar on 5/26/2015 & rated 91 points: Cork was suspect but opened up and was good to go!! Nice nose, great color and very nice wine. Enjoy!! Drink Now!! (1698 views)
Tasted by Night Train on 3/22/2015 & rated 89 points: A year ago, I was very underwhelmed by this - too raisiny and port-like. This time, based on my observation and other members' notes, I opened it about 90 minutes before drinking. Serving with BBQ didn't hurt, either. Anyway, immediately after opening, it tasted raisiny and port-like. 90 minutes later, it was almost effervescent and the sweetness had subsided. An hour after that, the effervescence had been replaced by a pleasant tingling on the tongue. 30 minutes later, the tingling was gone. At every stage, however, it showed a fairly plush texture and a solid finish. God only knows what it would have evolved into an hour after that, because it was gone by then. Ultimately, anybody's score on this will depend on precisely how long after opening it's tasted. I went from 84 to 88 to 92 to 89. (1644 views)
Tasted by danscellar on 11/8/2014 & rated 90 points: This the second bottle in about a week and I am still a bit conflicted. This comes out of the bottle with an acidic bite and a mouth full of fruit and raisins. Also, has notes of being over the hill??? Then with 20-30 minutes of air it calms down and drinks really pretty nice. I think most folks will either love it or hate it, I am still not sure. (1786 views)
Tasted by danscellar on 11/5/2014 & rated 88 points: I think folks are either going to love this wine or wonder a bit about it. It is very dense and raisnend with a good deal of spice. I fall into the camp of wonder. It almost seems like it could be well past it's prime, but am looking forward to trying some of the other 11 bottles I have remaining to form my full opionion.  Tasted by Dana G on 8/26/2014: - Medium forming legs and aromas of blackberry and has flavours of blackberry and tobacco with a medium finish - Delish! (2059 views)
Tasted by moega on 8/10/2014 & rated 91 points: Same as last bottle I had...In a very good place right now....Drinking very well. (1856 views)
Tasted by moega on 6/22/2014 & rated 91 points: In a very good place right now....Drinking very well. (1961 views)
Tasted by Night Train on 3/9/2014 & rated 87 points: I gave this an 84, but my Lesser Half gave it 90, so the published score is an average. I thought it was too hot, raisiny and port-like, but The Little Woman called it rich and spicy. Tongue-coating viscosity, but a surprisingly short finish. In fairness, it was opened (not decanted) only about 30 minutes before we started drinking it, and, after another hour, it seemed to display a little more restraint. Probably needs a little more time in the bottle and a lot more breathing time. (2227 views)
Tasted by Yamadori on 8/17/2013 & rated 93 points: Popped and poured. Consistent with TN from 2012. Great attack of ripe black raspberry and dark cherry fruit. Good acidity and persistence through the mid palate with notes of chocolate and tobacco. This great Zinfandel blend is still drinking really well. Great QPR (2801 views)
Tasted by moega on 8/9/2013 & rated 91 points: Drinking well right now, with or without food pairing. (2414 views)
Tasted by moega on 5/24/2013 & rated 91 points: Not much to criticize here. First words were "Yum"! Drinking very well, excellent color and taste. (2503 views)
Tasted by PearlsB4Wine on 5/10/2013 & rated 92 points: Bought a case of this last year after tasting it. The wine is awesome.
Notes said this would age well. In 2013 I had to throw one bottle away
The sediment in that bottle was thicker than a 60 year old French Burgandy. Like tar on the side of the bottle.
The wine that used to be drinkable immediately now needs at least 30 minutes to open up. The wine is non filtered and the sediment in the bottle is crazy. The Wine was a bit effervescent upon opening but opened up and tasted marvelous once again after 30 minutes. An hour later it was 92 rated. (2582 views)
Tasted by srshane on 12/24/2012 & rated 93 points: The wine looks Ruby colored. The legs are Medium. It smells like Blackberry, Black currant (cassis), and Stoniness. The body is Medium/Full. The wine has Fleshy texture. The wine finishes Medium. It was a hit with a pork dish. (2631 views)
Tasted by prettydeceextrap on 11/22/2012 & rated 87 points: (B+) A nice change of pace from other vintages of this wine. Still the same wine at its core - dark color, bombastic and alcoholic nose, and a fleshy ripe wine with just enough complexity to make it memorable. This vintage added a lovely spice quality that really rounded things out. Drink now. (2158 views)
Tasted by DecaturDan on 11/3/2012 & rated 89 points: I was a little disappointed with this one. We had it at the winery and liked it, so we were excited to finally open it. It's a good, well-balanced wine but it was just way too jammy last night. Looking forward to trying the other bottle to see if I change my mind. (2172 views)
Tasted by jes0811 on 9/30/2012 & rated 90 points: Dinner party. Did not take notes on this one, but several people commented on how good it was. (2057 views)
Tasted by ntrubee on 8/30/2012 & rated 92 points: agree with the others. great wine. favorite year of the last 5. (2070 views)
Tasted by Annie1 on 8/24/2012 & rated 94 points: Last bottle of this vintage. Big silky wine with nose of chocolate and dark berries. Palate is luscious, with flavors of berries, chocolate and God knows what else. The flavors seem to go on and on. What a beautifully balanced wine! After drinking this it's hard to think of drinking "everyday" wines....Why waste the time....except for the cost. I wish I had a case of this beautiful blend. (1944 views)

USA

American wine has been produced since the 1500s, with the first widespread production beginning in New Mexico in 1628. Today, wine production is undertaken in all fifty states, with California producing 84% of all U.S. wine. The continent of North America is home to several native species of grape, including Vitis labrusca, Vitis riparia, Vitis rotundifolia, and Vitis vulpina, but the wine-making industry is based almost entirely on the cultivation of the European Vitis vinifera, which was introduced by European settlers. With more than 1,100,000 acres (4,500 km2) under vine, the United States is the fourth-largest wine producing country in the world, after Italy, Spain, and France.
