Tasted by Thebackroomvt on 3/18/2022 & rated 89 points: Drank with Daniel & Carissa, Very good seemed a little flat/passed its prime (1343 views)
Tasted by Dr.Cork on 2/18/2022 & rated 86 points: No excitement here. Toasted notes, some fruit, lacking character and too much volatile alcohol for my liking. A mouthful of fruit, but lacking definition. The soft tannins are not holding much, the acid balance is ok. Length is barely average. Similar to a bottle we had 18 months ago. Not worth the price. Still have 3 bottles of this vintage, so I’m hoping for a magical rebirth. (1358 views)
Tasted by pauliwin on 12/7/2021 & rated 89 points: Zeer donkerrood, bijna zwart van kleur, gesloten spiegel. In de geur licht notig en aards. In de mond koffie, cacao, zwarte kers en bospaddenstoelen. Krachtige tannines, milder zuren. Stevig mondgevoel, bite, beetje boers. Echet eetwijn. (1462 views)
Tasted by baxter67 on 4/24/2021 & rated 91 points: From magnum decanted one hour. Medium bodied and well balanced. Good structure and black fruit, smooth tannins. Really enjoyable wine. *** (1927 views)
Tasted by thrane23 on 2/20/2021 & rated 86 points: Not really my style.. quality wine though (2087 views)
Tasted by chrisanderika on 2/2/2020 & rated 91 points: brooding and slightly herbal aromas, dark blue fruit, wintergreen, and lavender. (2346 views)
Tasted by Ital_1970 on 1/1/2019 & rated 88 points: Straight forward Well produced wine, but to expensive. (3039 views)
Tasted by K&J on 6/28/2018 & rated 93 points: Continues to improve. I think it has some more life in it. (3598 views)
Tasted by europat55 on 4/2/2018 & rated 90 points: Drank over 3 days and improved significantly on day 2-3. (3717 views)
Tasted by Mads Eriksen on 12/7/2017 & rated 92 points: Første flaske var helt i top. dekanteret i tre timer. (4106 views)
Tasted by appel54 on 12/2/2017 & rated 90 points: Vinröd färg, tät kärna

Stendamm, körsbärslikor, tobak, vanilj

Oerhört torrt och strävt, bra tanniner, väldigt bra längd, en hel del lingon

Oerhört härligt vin. (3255 views)
Tasted by Snoski62 on 9/4/2017 & rated 91 points: Drank alongside a Waters Syrah (Old Stones). The Psi had a bit more acidity and earth. Split decision among our dinner guests. I liked the spice and balance of the Psi. Probably could use a bit more time, but I think it is in a good drinking zone now... (3539 views)
Tasted by guitarkim on 7/18/2017 & rated 91 points: App: dark ruby red
Aroma: dark fruit (esp. blueberries), chocolate, spice and hint of minerals and oak.
Full-bodied- with decent acidity and firm, but available tannins. Good structure, excellent concentration, but still a rather elegant style. Dark fruit (esp. blueberries), dark and bitter chocolate, and spice on the palate.
Very good length. (91) (3615 views)
Tasted by Snoski62 on 4/22/2017 & rated 91 points: Rich red color. Round "sexy" mouthfeel with ripe red fruit and some mocha/chocolate. Rounds out and finish becomes more distinct with time.

Tasted by Snoski62 on 2/5/2017 & rated 90 points: Agree with earlier notes. Rounded out nicely over time. Dark fruits, soft tannins... (4131 views)
Tasted by K&J on 2/2/2017 & rated 93 points: Improving. Upon popping the cork, the wine was austere if not somewhat subdued. After an hour, the austerity had subsided and the fruit was becoming more pronounced. The next day, the wine had substantially improved. It seemed that the wine tasted like it had a velvety structure to it. It also had sort of a menthol taste on the finish. (3821 views)
Tasted by Mtnmd1 on 12/15/2016 & rated 91 points: Tight the first night. Full, balanced the second night. Prob best decanted for a few hrs prior. (3700 views)
Tasted by SlimShaney on 10/8/2016 & rated 89 points: Sweet fruit expands outward like an inflating balloon, tempered by chalky resin. Under that surface there is hollowness. (4030 views)
Tasted by ThalesGaspar on 9/2/2016 & rated 90 points: Really nice! Good nose, medium/full body, balanced with nice finish. Ready to drink, but no hurry. (3537 views)
Tasted by Necowine on 8/4/2016 & rated 90 points: Very Cali-cab in its bright, rich dark fruits, suppleness, and pleasant mocha notes, and with just a subtle layer of Tempranillo ink. Delicious. (3456 views)
Tasted by Ken332 on 7/24/2016 & rated 89 points: This wine continues to improve. Double decanted about 2 hours before serving and served with grilled venison backstrap which was perfectly cooked. While the nose is still somewhat closed in, there are plums and blackberries on the nose and initial flavors and the tannins are beginning to mellow and are much less noticeable. Good length. I think this wine is approaching its drinking window and should be good for at least another 5 years or so. (3152 views)
Tasted by michigan dogs on 7/21/2016 & rated 90 points: very enjoyable, smooth, not a big wine now as wine has mellowed out from it's youth, probably should be drank as I doubt it will get any better. (3097 views)
Tasted by wineismylife on 12/6/2015 & rated 92 points: WIML92

Tasted non blind.

Dark garnet color in the glass, clear looking throughout. Nose of pepper, black berries and black cherries. Flavors of black berries, black raspberries and black cherries. Medium acidity, medium tannin, full bodied. Drink or hold. (4761 views)
Tasted by Ken332 on 11/8/2015 & rated 89 points: Served this bottle along with a bottle of Emilio Moro 2011 Malleous at a neighbor's house for dinner. Double decanted both wines about 2-1/2 hours before serving. As with previous bottles of the Psi, it was still a bit closed in with considerable underlying fruit of plums, blackberries, touch of wood, and moderate, round tannins. Still a very good wine, but I don't know when it is going to fully open up. The wine advocate (Gutierrez) recommends drinking by 2020, but we will see. (3670 views)
Tasted by Markus IWC on 11/2/2015 & rated 87 points: Rubinröd, medium body, härligt bärig doft. Intensiva smaker, Hallon, körsbär, blåbär, lakrits, läder. Balanserad fat karaktär, medium tanniner. Kryddig och het, lite för hög alkohol känsla slår igenom, kanske lite beskt slut. (1014 views)

Tempranillo

Varietal character (Appellation America) | TAPAS: Tempranillo Advocates, Producers and Amigos Society

Tempranillo is the premium red wine grape variety from the Rioja and Ribera del Duero region in Spain. Tempranillo's aromas and flavors often combine elements of berryish fruit, herbaceousness, and an earthy-leathery minerality. Being low in acidity and sugar content, it is commonly blended with Carignan (Mazuela), Grenache (Garnacha), Graciano, Merlot and Cabernet Sauvignon.

WineAccess
The varietal is at its best in top Riojas, where oak aging is employed to generate increased complexity and harmony. From the best sites, these wines can be remarkably concentrated with great aging potential. New wines from this region are darker, and more robust, with more dynamic primary fruit flavors than traditionally styled examples. These wines seem to reflect the influence of Spain's other key region for Tempranillo, Ribera del Duero. Regardless of style, Riojas tend to be medium bodied wines, with more acid than tannins. These wines generally feature Tempranillo blended with Garancha, Mazuelo, and Graciano. For these wines, there are three quality levels, which will appear on the label. Everyday drinking wines fall under the category of "Crianza", "Reserva" denotes more complex and concentrated wines, and "Gran Reserva" refers to the most intense wines, made only in the best years.

The same labeling scheme applies to wines from Ribera del Duero, which, like Rioja, is dominated by Tempranillo and shares similar blending grapes. Again, Ribera del Duero wines are generally darker and more powerful than the most traditional Riojas. These wines also generally see less oak treatment than Riojas. From Rioja, we like wines from Allende, Marqués de Cáceres, Montecillo, and Cune. In Ribera del Duero, consider Dominio de Pingus, Emilio Moro, Convento San Francisco, and Pesquera.
Pair older-style Rioja with simple meats like chicken, leg of lamb, and pork loin. However, the newer style of Rioja and Ribera del Duero works especially well with bolder meat dishes or an aged Spanish cheese like Manchego or Idiazabal.

Spain

Vinos de España - Wines of Spain (Instituto Español de Comercio Exterior) | Wikipedia
Wine Map on weinlagen-info

Spain is the third largest wine producing nation in the world, occupying the majority of the Iberian Peninsula with vast diversity in climate, culture, and of course, wine. From inky, dark reds of the [Priorat] to dry, white Finos from Andalusia, Spain can easily boast of elaborating a wide variety of notable styles. Within Spain there are currently 62 demarcated wine regions, of which a handful have gained international recognition: [Rioja], Priorat and [Ribera del Duero]. Yet these regions are only a small sample of the high quality wines Spain produces. Regions such as Cava, Penedes, Somontano, Galicia, Rueda and Jerez are only a few of the numerous regions worthy of exploration throughout Spain. Spain can also lay claim to having the most land under vine in the world, growing up to, by some accounts, 600 indigenous varietals of which Tempranillo is their most well known. Other popular varietals include [Garnacha], Bobal and Monastrell for reds and for whites; the infamous [sic] Palomino Fino grape which is used in the production of sherry wine, Pedro Ximenez in Montilla Morilles, Albarino used in the creation of the bright, effervescent wines of Galicia, and Verdejo in Rueda. - Source: - Catavino.net

Spain is not in the forefront of winemaking for its dessert wines, other than for its sweet wines from Sherry country including the highly revered Olorosos (when sweetened). But apart from Sherry Spain has a range of styles of dessert wines, ranging from the those made from the Pedro Ximenez grape primarily in Jerez and Montilla-Moriles) to luscious, red dessert wines made in the Mediterranean from the Garnacha (Grenache) grape. Some good Moscatels are made in Mallorca, Alicante and Navarre. The northwest corner of Spain, Galicia, with its bitter Atlantic climate, is even making dessert wines, called “Tostadillos” in the village of Ribadivia (similar to France’s “Vin de Paille”). The Canary Islands have made interesting dessert wines for centuries (they are mentioned by Shakespeare, for example) and in recent years the quality of winemaking has been improved and the Canary Islands wines are being better marketed now. The winemaking styles for “Vinos Dulces” are also diverse, from “Late Harvest” (Vendimia Tardía) to “Fortified Wines” (Fermentación Parcial). Based on in-spain.info.
