Tasted by Anna@WineCellar on 4/23/2023 & rated 92 points: Red, clear, medium intensity. Developed, medium intensity nose. Floral whiff. Mint. Red fruit. On the palate dry, medium(+) acidity, medium(+), finegrained tannins, medium(+) body. 13% Taut, complex. Very good length with resistance in the afterfeel. Superb! (752 views)
15/20 (845 views)
Tasted by MC2 Wines on 11/18/2022: La Tablee: Graillot Dinner (Al Coro): You can really see the influence that Maxime had on the family estate which is interesting. Lots of acid, fruit, structure and very pretty style of winemaking. (1332 views)

Tasted by mat600 on 1/2/2022 & rated 92 points: Tannins intégrés. Très bon. 92 sur 100. (1266 views)

Tasted by MatsRahm on 4/26/2021 & rated 90 points: Drinks beautifully now! (1576 views)

90 pts (1788 views)
Tasted by dbkitc on 11/13/2020 & rated 92 points: Wow - this is a wonderful bottle of authentic Northern Rhone goodness. Saturated deep ruby color. The nose is a knockout: savory combination of dark fruit and beef stock. Deep and rich with a peppery finish. There is still some tannin present. All in all, a really enjoyable and classic wine that provides a lot of pleasure to this taster. Just love the medium weight combined with the rugged personality. A fall / winter wine, for sure. (92) (1481 views)
Tasted by pswe on 11/8/2020 & rated 89 points: A bit of the ageing can be spotted in the color now.
Nose is complex with typical notes to expect, stables, sausages.
First impression is a surprisingly fresh fruit. Long lasting taste which evolves into a very tasteful and well balanced experience. Drinks very well now, but given the freshness probably could last several more years. (1357 views)
Tasted by Finare Vinare on 1/9/2020 & rated 90 points: Aromatically more closed than a year ago - it needs quite a lot of air, yet the perfumes never really open up. The palate has good acid-driven structure and comes across as classically well-built and balanced in a food-friendly way. A solid Syrah that finally needs more time, as concluded in last year's note. (2298 views)
Tasted by Baltazar on 11/24/2019 & rated 90 points: Still going strong, with lovely nose of gauze, blood, iron, wild berries and olives, followed by fresh and long taste with fine intensity and fully resolved tannins. Drink. (1075 views)
Tasted by JVG on 7/9/2019: Medium dark plum color. Lovely on the nose and extremely refined, with sweet spice, dried flowers, seared meat, toast, smoke, cedar, anise, and dusty cellar. Textbook Northern Rhône syrah with some age. Developed bouquet with very little in the way of fruit aroma—maybe a hint of blackberry. Wow, a knockout on the palate, too. Here there is actually some elegant dark fruit, which gives a dash of juiciness to go with all the spice and leather and smoke and blood etc. from the nose. Perfectly judged ripeness, with good acid yet still generous and inviting. Smooth, satiny tannin and medium body, with a long, intense, perfumed finish that never seems to end.

This is just tremendous and in a beautiful drinking window. I think it will still develop just a little more since there is still some fruit hanging around, but I think the current state will be hard to beat. Such complexity but also generosity. Great Northern Rhône syrah by any measure and truly outstanding for Crozes. This is why I love this region and variety. (1904 views)
Tasted by Johehn on 1/30/2019 & rated 91 points: Really nice drinking window. Open up after about 30 min, and very enjoyable for the 2-3 days I had it. I think its better than both 2007 and 2008... (2047 views)

Tasted by Finare Vinare on 1/2/2019 & rated 92 points: Decanted for the short of an hour. Quite a lot of fine-caliber particles that will form a solid deposit in due time. Aromas open up fairly quickly and carry textbook developing perfumes, meaty and floral with serious complexity. The palate offers excellent concentration of open enough flavours, decomposing tannins, and solid structure with an extra plus for acidity, which bodes well for further cellaring. Should reach peak in five years and keep for the next decade. (2746 views)
Tasted by Mwkelly2 on 12/16/2018 & rated 90 points: At its peak. Decant for at least half an hour before enjoying though. Bramble nose follows through on palate but the tannins have softened yet acidity still relatively high. Decanting gives the fruit a chance to round things out beautifully (1738 views)
Tasted by DFBW on 11/23/2018 & rated 87 points: If you have this, drink it and you might be lucky. Second Magnum down and like the first one, it's fruit has disappeared. Might only be 9 years of age on the wine but it can't take it. Shame. (1523 views)
Tasted by dbkitc on 10/22/2018 flawed bottle: Inky / leather / brett dominated nose. Takes some time to open up. This bottle is a bit dirty. There is some good peppery fruit underneath but I don’t this this is a good bottle as the brett overwhelms both the nose and palate. No score. (1546 views)
Tasted by DFBW on 8/17/2018 & rated 87 points: Could certainly taste there was some age on there. Was expecting a lot more fruit but seems to have disappeared and thinned the wine out. Might be a duff bottle. (1518 views)
Tasted by InVinjeVeritas on 8/7/2018 & rated 86 points: Not very expressive, although fruit seemed intact. Might be a bad bottle, some kind of phase, or a bad bottle. (1618 views)
Tasted by AURUM on 3/17/2018 & rated 91 points: Quite dark red, sign of maturity. Slightly meaty with earth, blackberry, blueberry, thyme in the bouquet. Full bodied with still present tannins. Perfectly balanced. A great wine, one of the best Crozes from Alain Graillot I have had in many years. (1806 views)
Tasted by AnnaTheBell on 12/30/2017 & rated 88 points: Well balanced. Not to "heavy". Fruity. (1879 views)

Syrah

Varietal article (Wikipedia) | (Wines Northwest)

Note that some producers in the Northern Rhone distinguish between simply Syrah and "Serine", the latter described as ‘an ancient clone of Syrah, the berries of which are more oval-shaped and less deeply pigmented than Syrah’ by producer Tardieu-Laurent.

Northern Rhône

Guide to the wines and appellations of the Northern Rhone Valley -

The Rhône Valley/Le Vins de la Vallée du Rhône (Comité Interprofession des vins AOC Côtes et vallée du Rhône)

Regional History:
Phocaean Greeks established viticulture in the Rhone as far back as 600 BC, but until the 14th century the wines were not seen outside the region. The establishment of the Avignonese Papacy (1305-1377) brought fame to the region's wine-so much so that their Burgundian neighbors to the north banned wines from the Rhone in 1446, a measure that effectively cut off trade with England and other Northern European markets for over 200 years. Stretching southward from Lyon to just south of Avignon, the Rhone produces a wide variety of wines, with the appellations north of Valence producing the least (in volume), and the towns south of Montelimar producing prodigious amounts. As in other regions, the most interesting wines come from small farms. Saint-Joseph, in the northern Rhone, extends for some distance between Condrieu in the north to Saint-Peray in the south. The reds are made from Syrah and the rare whites from Marsanne and Roussanne, and Viognier.

### 2017 vintage ###
