Tasted by KTelaak_Buffalo on 10/26/2019 & rated 95 points: Amazing 25 year old champagne. Cellared perfectly. Amazing tertiary notes. I'm in love. (2782 views)
Tasted by _water.into.wine_ on 2/20/2019 & rated 98 points: Wow. This was sublime. Such balance and harmony. Golden Amber in the glass. Comes across as much younger than it is. Some savory notes. Quite lush. Totally delishious. The best aged champagne I have ever tried.

Served by ST for our anniversary dinners at DC (3109 views)
Tasted by aquacongas on 10/14/2018 & rated 98 points: The best 88 Champagnes from 1988 Part 3/3 Prestige Cuvees from Magnum (L'assiette champenois): From Magnum, not blind

Ultra Young, yeast, bread crust, green apple, reductive, great refreshing acidity, Saline, silky Long finish. and the ened some yellow peach. The winner of the flight. 98 (4386 views)
Tasted by aquacongas on 3/17/2017 & rated 95 points: Der Belle Epoque sehr fein und elegant, den ganzen Abend über. Erste angenehme Reifenoten: etwas Honig, getrocknete Aprikosen, dezent Feige, sehr subtile Perlage. 95P. (5792 views)
Tasted by edgar on 7/24/2016 & rated 89 points: Nice aged champagne (5415 views)
Tasted by UPL on 5/27/2015 & rated 97 points: fantastic champagne, brioche, fine bubbles, sweet nose, creme brulee, fine acidity, very long finish, 97+ (5431 views)
Tasted by Shorepower on 3/12/2011: Initialt lite oxidativ.
Tasted by robertek on 4/24/2010 & rated 93 points: Young and vibrant out of this magnum. On the nose brioche, hazlenuts, fois gras but also an elegant and flowery bouquet. After a while in the glass it explodes with coffee notes! Good acidity that balances the fatness of the flavors. Still - not as good as the wine straight out of PJ's cellar... (10293 views)
Tasted by BailliSacks on 9/6/2009 & rated 91 points: Deep golden yellow color. Bubbles are small and plentiful, though light. Odd funk and brine nose. Dense and complex on palate, with brine and fruit and butter and lots of mineral. Long mineral finish. Really grew on me over the hour or so of consumption. (8179 views)
Tasted by robertek on 10/2/2008 & rated 94 points: This one was tasted as part of a vertical done at Perrier Jouet of their Belle Epoque 00, 99, 98, 96, 95, 88, 85 and 82 (see separate notes for the other wines). Cannot help it but I like more mature champagnes. This one is fantastic with a sweat nose and creme brulee on the palate. Still good acidity of course but this one is very very nice to drink just now. This bottle was of course perfectly stored in the cellars of Perrier Jouet and so better bottles will be hard to find. (7673 views)
Tasted by Stephori on 5/24/2008 & rated 95 points: Was great with smoked salmon, deep gold color, finely bubbly.

Very long in mouth.

Its time has arrived, won't last 10 years more. (6570 views)
Tasted by SimonG on 8/15/2003: Deeo colour, mousse quite coarse and impersistent. Lovely nose of fresh brioche. Quite crisp on the palatte, some mature aromas but still hints of a lemony aperatif style. Classy but not in the top division. (4234 views)

Perrier-Jouët

Producer website
Perrier-Jouët was founded in 1811 in Epernay by Pierre-Nicolas-Marie Perrier and his wife, Adele Jouët. One of the most prestigious houses in Champagne, the firm was shipping wine to Great Britain by 1813 and to the United States by 1837. Perrier-Jouët owns 266 acres of vineyards in Champagne, with an average rating of 95%, and is known worldwide for its consistency of style. By the end of the 19th Century, its Brut cuvées earned the reputation of nobility and prestige that continues today. Perrier Jouët's glamorous "Cuvée Belle Epoque", known in the United States as Fleur de Champagne, was launched in 1969 and has become the most important cuvée de prestige to appear after World War II. The bottle is adorned with enamel-painted anenomes originally created by Emile Gallé in 1900, but the wine is as famous for its taste as it is for its beautiful packaging.

Champagne Blend

"Champagne blend" is a classic grape blend that typically includes Chardonnay, Pinot Noir and/or Pinot Meunier in any proportions.

However, this blend can also include Arbane, Fromenteau (Pinot Gris), Petit Meslier and/or Pinot Blanc as well.

France - When it comes to wine, France stands alone. No other country can beat it in terms of consistent quality and diversity. And while many of its Region, Bordeaux, Burgundy and Champagne most obviously, produce wine as rare, as sought-after and nearly as expensive as gold, there are just as many obscurities and values to be had from little known appellations throughout the country. To learn everything there is to know about French wine would take a lifetime. To understand and appreciate French wine, one only has to begin tasting them. Sub-Region:

Champagne - The French region of Champagne (including the cities of Rheims, Épernay, and Aÿ) was the first region in the world to make sparkling wine in any quantity. Today, the name of the region is synonymous with the finest of all sparkling wines, and wine-making traditions of Champagne have become role models for sparkling wine producers, worldwide. Surprisingly, the region of Champagne is now responsible for only one bottle in 12 of all sparkling wine produced. Styles of champagne range in sweetness ranging from an extra brut or brut 0, to the basic brut to demi sec to doux; some houses produce single vintage champagnes and others produce non-vintage (or incorporate wines/grapes of multiple vintages), often to preserve a specific taste; combinations of grape varietals; and colors, including a rosé. There are several sub-appellations, including the Valley of the Marnes river running from Épernay west, Massif de Saint-Thierry north and west of Rheims, Valley of the Ardre, the Mountains of Rheims (between Rheims and Épernay), Côte des Blancs, Côte de Sézanne, and Côte des Bar in the South. Champagne wine only uses three grape varietals (cépages): Chardonnay, Pinot Noir, and Pinot Meunier.
