Tasted by davidspieker on 9/27/2017 & rated 87 points: Medium gold color. Burnt lemon flavors with an oily texture and minerality on the finish. Won't last much longer. (1641 views)
Tasted by CDH on 8/6/2015: This bottle was past its prime. I say drink up! (2520 views)
Tasted by andtheodor on 7/4/2015 & rated 88 points: Malic, crabapple, lemon oil, mineral water, kind of searing alone but a great match for mussels. (2721 views)
Tasted by dst on 11/18/2014 & rated 70 points: Lacks flavor and depth. Not a worthwhile wine. (2844 views)
Tasted by latorsher on 10/1/2014 & rated 90 points: deep color and heavy almost sherry like (2811 views)
Tasted by cse on 7/27/2014 & rated 92 points: fabulous! already showing pronounced secondary traits, but with at least several years of good life ahead of it. like a cross between a sancerre and an aged riesling. wish i had more. (2038 views)
Tasted by CDH on 5/25/2014: I've enjoyed these in the past, but this particular bottle tasted oxidized. The cork seemed damp on the top, and the color was a light honey - darker than I recall. For those of you with this in your cellars I suggest trying a bottle and making sure it's not over the hill. (1592 views)
Tasted by jkwatson on 10/9/2013 & rated 91 points: As before, delicious. (1987 views)
Tasted by Redguy on 9/20/2013 & rated 89 points: Acidity has mellowed a bit. A bit wooly on the nose. Bright lime/lemon and apple with some slate and saline. Good concentration and depth. Nice change of pace from chardonnay. (1829 views)
Tasted by nefarm on 11/3/2012: A very good purchase, but definitely on its last leg. All were in agreement that after about 30 minutes it really opened with complex flavors. I would buy again. (2207 views)
Tasted by guitarguy on 7/27/2012 flawed bottle: Terribly corked, just nasty. My glass still smelled even after a good washing. (2319 views)
Tasted by MichaelMA on 5/20/2012 & rated 90 points: I will reiterate my notes from the second bottle I had. Just a lovely wine. This time drank it with parents and in-laws and EVERYONE raved about it. I guess that makes it a crowd pleaser. Nice nose, less floral today, more citrus and some apple. Very smooth and great mouth feel. A bit less acid than the last bottle, with lemon, stone, some green apple. Sorry this is my last bottle. . . (2353 views)
Tasted by guitarguy on 5/18/2012 & rated 88 points: Grapefruit tinged with nice length for a Romo. Well balanced. (2054 views)
Tasted by Redguy on 2/21/2012: Light sulfur on the nose with wet chalk and a touch of lemon/lime. Tart lemon drop palate with saline minerality and potent acidity. Low fruit character thru to the med length dry finish where it reminds me of chablis. Acid driven with minerality and tart yellow fruits palying second fiddle. Not to my liking, but maybe it's to yours. (2254 views)
Tasted by guitarguy on 2/19/2012 & rated 87 points: Impressive for a Romo in that the teeth shattering acidity often found in the grape is in check, almost tame. You might peg it as Loire even without knowing Romo given the hints of Loire-like components in it. Earthy lime and wet stone nose, juicy grapefruit, lime, crabapple notes with a small bit of oxidation that often accompanies certain Loire whites. While the oxidation is not to my liking, I still think this was good. The sherry/lychee nut components became more pronounced as it warmed, I liked it better on the colder side. (1836 views)
Tasted by MichaelMA on 1/29/2012 & rated 90 points: There have been lots of notes complaining about a latex smell and taste and I got that in spades on the first bottle. WOW. What a difference a few months can make! Now it is a gorgeous wine. Lovely floral and salty smell. Taste of mouth filling lemon, stone, a bit of salt, and a ton of acid. Just a delicious wine. Could not stop drinking it last night with salmon. Has evolved some today -- a bit less fruit, more salinity, but still very appealing. Delicious wine. Given the trend of the tasting notes, I would discount entirely the ones mentioning latex -- what ever was going on there 5 or 6 months ago is gone now. (1912 views)
Tasted by tbone on 1/4/2012: This stuff is great. I get the salty, briny minerals on nose and pick up some fruit and stone on palate. Good with/without food. Seems like this has the structure to age as well.
Even better on night 2 & 3. (1942 views)
Tasted by davidspieker on 12/27/2011 & rated 85 points: Tart lemon lime and green apple. Almost salty with strong minerality and acidity. (1983 views)
Tasted by jkwatson on 12/9/2011 & rated 90 points: Really fantastic Romorantin. Tart, rich, delicious. (2011 views)
Tasted by french16 on 11/15/2011: I really enjoyed the nose which was, in my opinion, quite typical of romorantin. Herbal, laurel, salty and flinty with a touch of wet leaves. Not really any fruit standing out. The palate is super nervy, great acidity with plenty of lime zest and lemon. Good weight and nice finish on smoky and damp earthy notes.
Lovely wine. (2236 views)
Tasted by nd89sc88 on 11/1/2011 & rated 91 points: Great flinty white. Multiple layers of flavor. Citrus notes, stone fruit, and a little glycerin. Highly enjoyable (2271 views)
Tasted by MichaelMA on 8/29/2011 & rated 85 points: Definitely get the latex smell others have mentioned, especially when opened; the longer its been open the more this has faded. I don't taste latex, however, but I do taste tart lemon an lime, or very tart green apple. Quite dry. Has the weight of a chardonnay. Nice long finish. The wine definitely grew on me the more I drank it the more air it got. Not bad, definitely interesting, and not a bad price overall. Will sit on two more bottle, and see what evolves. (2325 views)
Tasted by cowboyrick on 6/22/2011: Why would anyone want to taste latex gloves?? Not good. (2504 views)
Tasted by gripNsip on 6/21/2011 & rated 81 points: Light nose, smelling of yellow apple, latex gloves, lemon and stainless steel. The user below me "hitanykey" is spot-on with the rubber taste on the palate, along with very tart lemon flavors, so sharp it reminds me of sweet tarts as well. That said, structurally it's a little weird, the acidity is just sharp, and isn't balanced as it cuts in front of any flavors that might be trying to show through. All in all, pretty basic. Maybe it just needs age? I have no experience in these wines so I'll just sit on my remaining bottle and hope for the best. (2473 views)
Tasted by mattdev on 6/21/2011 & rated 78 points: Open 12 hours. Lots of caramel dipped apples on the nose with a slight paint thinner note. Hints of vanilla and cream on a second sniff.

The flavor is extremely dominated by tart, citrusy fruits, like lemons and limes. Lots of granny smith apples and the slightest hint of vanilla. The feeling it leaves in your mouth is almost like that of a warhead because of the sharp acidity. (2646 views)

Romorantin

The Romorantin variety has been grown in the Loire Valley since the reign of King Francis I in the sixteenth century. Wines made with this variety are often described as having a mineral flavor, and are crisply acidic. DNA printing revealed that Romorantin (like Chardonnay and Aligote) stems from a cross of Gouais Blanc (a Croatian grape) and Pinot. Romorantin is grown exclusively in the Cour-Cheverny appellation outside of Tours, and while most of the vines were pulled to make way for more popular varieties,
limited amounts of the grape are still in production and are being preserved.
