(1289 views) | | Tasted by IAmVintage on 7/29/2018 & rated 92 points: No notes other than it was the hit of the evening and a bummer it wasn't a 3 ltr botttle! LOL Remembering complex and yet balanced richness that held up to and complimented a fantastic grilled Chilean sea bass with a caramelized shallots & herbal butter cream sauce. (1156 views) | | Tasted by ryonlife on 10/30/2017 & rated 91 points: You know when you're underwater with your eyes closed and don't know which way is up? That's the experience of sipping this amber gold wine. Ripe blood orange pungently on the nose, followed by golden apple, vanilla and brown baking spices. Taste and nose are harmonious, layering in a smooth buttery texture. Nicely balanced medium acid and a pop of white peppercorn (or depending on who you are, the light tartness of a kiwi core) on the finish. Great balanced wine and tremendous value. (1342 views) | | Tasted by Mr T on 7/13/2016: Still going strong (1921 views) | | Tasted by pjhr on 6/18/2016 & rated 91 points: Aromas of apricot and peach which carry on to the palate with floral and mineral notes. Moderate finish that could use more acidity. (1806 views) | | Tasted by cubswinws on 1/28/2016 & rated 90 points: Rich and unctous with tropical fruits and touch of oak on the finish (1267 views) | | Tasted by RR47 on 11/28/2015 & rated 93 points: One of the hits of the night, this fruit forward, peach and pear dominant Viognier was ready to drink. With a little air it opened and was quickly consumed by guests. (1098 views) | | Tasted by jvest on 5/22/2015 & rated 92 points: This wine is more complex than most viogniers. The floral nose is subdued and flavors of tropical and stone fruits prevail. The fruit flavors are soon joined and supplanted by mineral and graphite which lead into a prolonged refreshing finish. (1312 views) | | Tasted by whitmanlholt on 3/28/2015 & rated 91 points: Popped and poured. This is a medium gold wine with visible flecks of matter. The nose carries wax and a nice flower meadow. The mouth is crisp and bright, leaving a marshmallow-like finish. This is certainly still kicking and enjoyable. 91 points. (996 views) | | Tasted by DaninClearwater on 3/26/2015 & rated 92 points: intense floral aromas, very full bodied, very long finish a very enjoyable glass of wine (984 views) | | Tasted by dlduchon on 2/24/2015 & rated 89 points: Heavy handed style Rhone ranger white. I enjoyed the wine for what it is but it misses a bit in the refinement department. Much better as a cocktail wine than with food. Good Viognier aromatics, lingering finish and full bodied on the palate. Superior to the majority of California Viogniers. Taste dry to me, the sweetness of other California Viogniers try to trick you into thinking they are better than they are, this one does not need it. (1020 views) | | Tasted by Ridgerunner on 1/15/2015 & rated 91 points: Great white but off the list now (976 views) | | Tasted by ogres3 on 12/29/2014 & rated 92 points: Drank after diving in Little Cayman. Very nice refreshing wine with refined fruit. (705 views) | | Tasted by DavidDay on 12/25/2014 & rated 92 points: Rich peach, apricot aromas, very opulent on the palate, an almost never ending finish. One of the best white wines I have had this year. (599 views) | | Tasted by Ridgerunner on 11/12/2014 & rated 91 points: I think this is a really good wine... and I just wasn't feeling it tonight! (774 views) | | Tasted by BVal on 5/17/2014 & rated 91 points: Color: medium cloudy yellow showing a lot of viscosity with numerous long, shapely legs. Intense bouquet of grapefruit, honeysuckle, peaches, a touch of lime zest and freshly cut garden flowers. Seemed to need a little time after PnP so I let it breathe in the fridge for about 90 minutes. Big, big mouthful of wine that packs both a flavourful and alcoholic punch at 14.7%. Grapefruit, honey and oak noted as well as a little back-end spiciness that was very enticing. FULL bodied, viscous, with good acidity and wonderful structure, this is not for faint-of-heart tasters. Large scaled for sure; think Condrieu on steroids. (1043 views) | | Tasted by Kemo Sabe on 12/25/2013 & rated 90 points: First Viognier. Liked it. Different vs other Cali whites. More Subtle. 90+ (1256 views) | | Tasted by MLwine on 11/28/2013 & rated 88 points: Hard to tell, but not quite all there. More muted and less complex than I had hoped. (1121 views) | | Tasted by BVal on 10/16/2013 & rated 91 points: Whoops! Saw that the previous note written for this wine back on 6/13 was for the central coast (purchased fruit) version; it was supposed to be for the estate version (as this).
Color: medium cloudy yellow showing a lot of viscosity with numerous long, shapely legs. Intense bouquet of grapefruit, honeysuckle, peaches, a touch of lime zest and freshly cut garden flowers. Big, big mouthful of wine that packs both a flavourful and alcoholic punch at 14.7%. Better, I think, on a cool New England evening than the earlier hot, humid one -- though the aromatics were more (heh heh) spirited then. Once again, grapefruit and honey noted as well as a little back-end spiciness that was very enticing. FULL bodied, viscous, with good acidity and wonderful structure, this is not for faint-of-heart tasters. I do think this is one of the best Viogniers to come out of California but I wonder if John could dial the alcohol back a bit and still keep that intensity? This is a 2011 so the season was supposed to be less generous, nature-wise, than usual; hopeful that the profile would be less Marilyn Monroe and more Grace Kelly. (1268 views) | | Tasted by cubswinws on 10/7/2013 & rated 90 points: Nice aromatics and deep yellow in color. Decent depth and nice but probably not worth the tariff. (962 views) | | Tasted by jhngo on 10/7/2013 & rated 90 points: Okay oily grape must. (1082 views) | | Tasted by mjf@ulkner on 9/24/2013 flawed bottle: Badly corked (1086 views) | | Tasted by mjf@ulkner on 8/10/2013 & rated 89 points: There are recognizable varietal characteristics-unctuous honeysuckle, a honey note. Unfortunately, this is a bit flabby, and the alcohol is a bit too prominent to make this a repeat purchase. (879 views) | | Tasted by whitmanlholt on 7/28/2013 & rated 91 points: Popped and poured. This wine is medium yellow, with a color somewhat reminiscent of urine. Most of the glasses until the end were cloudy, with some chunks/floaters that highlight the unfiltered nature of the wine. On the nose, there is honeydew, marmalade, and spring flowers. This is a highly and nicely aromatic wine. In the mouth, this wine is lush, honeyed, and rich, leaving a surprisingly crisp finish. Overall, this is a very enjoyable white wine, one that is particularly great on the nose. Doubtful it will get better, so drink up in the next 12-15 months. 91 points. (814 views) | | Tasted by buckeye76 on 7/1/2013 & rated 92 points: CLEARLY UNFILTERED, CITRUS, APPLES, VANILLA, AND MINERALS IN THE NOSE WITH CITRUS AND PEARS IN THE FLAVOR. NICE COMPLEXITY AND A MEDIUM TO LONG FINISH. (226 views) | | Only displaying the 25 most recent notes - click to see all notes for this wine... |

This is nonsense.USAAmerican wine has been produced since the 1500s, with the first widespread production beginning in New Mexico in 1628. Today, wine production is undertaken in all fifty states, with California producing 84% of all U.S. wine. The continent of North America is home to several native species of grape, including Vitis labrusca, Vitis riparia, Vitis rotundifolia, and Vitis vulpina, but the wine-making industry is based almost entirely on the cultivation of the European Vitis vinifera, which was introduced by European settlers. With more than 1,100,000 acres (4,500 km2) under vine, the United States is the fourth-largest wine producing country in the world, after Italy, Spain, and France.California2021 vintage: "Unlike almost all other areas of the state, the Russian River Valley had higher than normal crops in 2021, which has made for a wine of greater generosity and fruit forwardness than some of its stablemates." - Morgan Twain-Peterson Central Coasthttp://www.ccwinegrowers.org/links.html
