Tasted by Nanda on 2/6/2023: Consistent with my November '22 note. One of the great values in the wine world. (898 views)
Tasted by Nanda on 11/25/2022 & rated 92 points: Gorgeous aromatics of stem-filled black fruit with meat and exotic spices. Palate has mid-weight with good nuanced fruit. Totally in the house style. Excellent QPR. (952 views)
(1446 views)
Tasted by pbaek on 9/6/2020: Genuine, wonderful Northern Rhône Syrah. Drinks like a Cote-Rotie, really, with notes of violets, olives, bacon/smoked meat. There’s lovely dark fruit, notes of tobacco, smoke, pepper. Tres bon vin. Ready to drink and I don’t think it will improve from here. (1906 views)
Tasted by blisscompound on 8/31/2020 & rated 90 points: Multiple bottles different occasions with 5-7 years age on the bottles. Feeling a more hedonistic playful character this side of Jamet. More of the raspberries strawberries brambly side of the domaine, playful and fun while still being a benchmark for quality with a natural backbone that will make this stand for many years without any problem no doubt. (1482 views)
Tasted by Axone on 9/8/2019 & rated 92 points: Le vin est à point.
Excellent, une petite cöte-Rôtie. (1693 views)
Tasted by acidqueen on 3/30/2019 & rated 91 points: Fragrant berry and lilac aromas on first open. Tastes very peppery and more earth and herbal than the nose. Light bodied. Still reserved. Good. (1742 views)
Tasted by Axone on 2/18/2019 & rated 91 points: Joli vin, élégant, très typé syrah. Légèrement acide à l'ouverture, il s'est harmonisé le lendemain.
A carafer ou attendre 2 ou 3 ans. (1541 views)
Tasted by Pknut on 9/22/2018: This has lost its fruit. Some dark fruit and black pepper notes emerge with time. Better in the past. Su Hot Pot dinner in Hastings. (1740 views)
Tasted by acidqueen on 4/19/2017 & rated 91 points: Ok, so I could not keep my hands off this despite my vows. This just gets better and better, but still has so much time ahead. Nice mild pepper, floral, berry - hits it all with great balance.

I really need to hold some of these back for another 5 years... (2192 views)
Tasted by pbaek on 4/14/2017: Has gained weight and depth since last bottle. This is impressive now, shows notes of tobacco, broth and dark olives. The fruit is dark, there is good depth and complexity here. Genuine wine, wow. (2019 views)
Tasted by acidqueen on 9/4/2016 & rated 91 points: Cigar box - tobacco and cedar. Some roses? Still closed and tannic enough that I recommend waiting several years to drink more. My last bottles were more open, so perhaps closing down a bit. I suspect this one is built for the long haul, so I am going to keep at least a few for another 8-10 years just to see. (2229 views)
Tasted by acidqueen on 6/12/2016 & rated 90 points: Bright red. Earthy nose w tobacco and big pepper! Spicy. Rustic, but smooth too and forceful. Very nice and will age well for 5+ years. Great vintage for this wine. (2406 views)
Tasted by Shoebox on 4/11/2016 & rated 90 points: Spicy on the nose and palate with notes of embers, pepper and tar.
Good structure with tannins to make it last another 10. (2399 views)
Tasted by Gargantua on 10/25/2015: Really at once quite elegant and rudimentary in the same breath. Really enjoyed this last bottle. (2190 views)
Tasted by cubswinws on 8/10/2015 & rated 90 points: Nice wine with goof fruit structure and spicy finish. Quite enjoyable. (2108 views)
Tasted by Gargantua on 5/3/2015: Somewhat simple as to be expected, no it's not fair to expect a baby Côte Rôtie. These vines sit across the road from Côte Rôtie. Pomegranate molasses/thick red raspberry fruit, but sufficiently lifted and bright such that it is refreshing. Nose brings to mind Faury Syrah but it's smoother and less feral, feels stemmy but polished; obviously not the elegance of a Côte Rôtie but managed an elegant balance nonetheless. At 16€, back up the truck. Roses come to mind with air, and it seems to gain conviction, even alluding to the tiniest meatiness. Yum. (2122 views)
Tasted by cardsandwine on 4/7/2015: My first taste of a wine from Jamet. I liked it, it was open for business with a soft and moderately spiced palate and moderate finish. I must however agree with CHABLIS28 post that this is overpriced. (2028 views)
Tasted by chablis28 on 2/9/2015 & rated 89 points: A solid example of what you get most of the time from syrah dominated CDRs. Only problem, you usually get this level of CDR for half the $35 I paid, or less. I love Jamets Cote Roties but this isn't declassified Jamet Cote Rotie. And I doubt they claim it is. I was just hoping it might be. As other's have noted it has a nice little spicy peppery nose, some tar and meat on the palate and savory flavors on a traditionally styled frame. 12.5% Alc. I really like this wine but with the Jamet name on the label, its overpriced. Saw it and had to have one to try. Now I know. Paid $35 drinks like $15-$20 tops. (2363 views)
Tasted by cubswinws on 12/29/2014 & rated 90 points: Nice soft syrah with some spice and rustic/perfumed nose. (1747 views)
Tasted by pbaek on 12/2/2014: Very approachable after just 15 mins of air. Cool, Northern Rhone syrah, floral with pebbly dark fruit, pepper and spices and notes of smoked meat. This is very light, poised, very precise and pure. Pure joy right now, no harm drinking it here, but I'm sure it will age nicely too for 5-10 yrs. (1805 views)
Tasted by Spencer on 11/27/2014: Excellent. Will age well. Pretty much everything you look for in a Cote-Rotie...for $30. (1548 views)
Tasted by danstrings on 11/16/2014 & rated 90 points: Baby Cote Rotie -- this must just be declassified Cote Rotie syrah. Spicy BBQ campfire meets black olive and rosemary garrigue.. Yummm... (1674 views)
(1950 views)

Syrah

Varietal article (Wikipedia) | (Wines Northwest)

Note that some producers in the Northern Rhone distinguish between simply Syrah and "Serine", the latter described as ‘an ancient clone of Syrah, the berries of which are more oval-shaped and less deeply pigmented than Syrah’ by producer Tardieu-Laurent.

Guide to the wines and appellations of the Northern Rhone Valley -

The Rhône Valley/Le Vins de la Vallée du Rhône (Comité Interprofession des vins AOC Côtes et vallée du Rhône)

Regional History:
Phocaean Greeks established viticulture in the Rhone as far back as 600 BC, but until the 14th century the wines were not seen outside the region. The establishment of the Avignonese Papacy (1305-1377) brought fame to the region's wine-so much so that their Burgundian neighbors to the north banned wines from the Rhone in 1446, a measure that effectively cut off trade with England and other Northern European markets for over 200 years. Stretching southward from Lyon to just south of Avignon, the Rhone produces a wide variety of wines, with the appellations north of Valence producing the least (in volume), and the towns south of Montelimar producing prodigious amounts. As in other regions, the most interesting wines come from small farms. Saint-Joseph, in the northern Rhone, extends for some distance between Condrieu in the north to Saint-Peray in the south. The reds are made from Syrah and the rare whites from Marsanne and Roussanne, and Viognier.

### 2017 vintage ###
"The first red wines already tasted in the Northern Rhône promise a beautiful vintage, with a quality close to the 2015 or even the 2009 vintage" - NEWRHÔNE MILLESIMES
