After a short decant this is showing beautifully right now. Perfect balance of fruit, tannins and acidity with a long finish. Three Wines will be on my list in the future for sure. (4534 views) | | Tasted by Bowmanifesto on 10/9/2011 & rated 92 points: Last two bottles superb in every way. Evocative nose of blueberries, sumptuous palate of fruit compote, and a finish that lingers long, with well integrated tannins. Truly exceptional blend which has improved to it's peak with several years in the cellar. (4611 views) | | Tasted by Bowmanifesto on 10/9/2011 & rated 92 points: BrotherFest. Brilliant. Bravo. Bellisimo. (4639 views) | | Tasted by BasqueChica on 5/15/2011 & rated 92 points: Quite tasty & goes very well with my lamb stew!! (2462 views) | | Tasted by chanote44 on 2/28/2011 & rated 88 points: Bright cherry with prominent acidity mixed with pepper make this a pleasure to drink. Very light tannins and a strong finish. Great everyday wine and wish I had more for the summer grilling season. (2412 views) | | Tasted by Bowmanifesto on 11/24/2010 & rated 89 points: I think this is excellent. Purple with ruby edge, medium body, decent legs, berries and oak on the nose, blueberries and spice on the palate, all with a nice finish. Somehow combines smoothness with snap. (2836 views) | | Tasted by chanote44 on 5/27/2010 & rated 89 points: Great drinking Zin. Lovely nose of cherry and spices. Dark color. Just the right amount of fruit and pepper in the finish. Ready to drink now. (2809 views) | | Tasted by Mig22 on 2/17/2010 & rated 89 points: Caught a whiff of alcohol at first and was worried. But the baked cherry smells with some leather were nice. Much more structure than I thought would be there, this was no fruit bomb. 14.9% ABV and 10% Petit Syrah seemed to give it a lot of grip. Peppery, baked cherry tart. It would be a very nice food wine, maybe beef stew. (2917 views) | | Tasted by hamiltoncd on 12/15/2009 & rated 87 points: Good everyday wine. Great with food, improved over a couple of hours. Nice nose with balanced fruit and earth. (3026 views) | | Tasted by pwarms on 12/13/2009 & rated 86 points: Spunky Zin with earthy approachable taste - a do-over (2946 views) | | Tasted by yakko42 on 11/22/2009 & rated 89 points: dry, slightly oaky. crab apple and pepper overtones. still needs another year in the bottle. (3135 views) | | Tasted by winetexan on 8/29/2009 & rated 88 points: enjoyed for every day wine, well balanced lots of body (3127 views) | | Tasted by dabovino on 11/11/2008 & rated 85 points: Dark purple. Interesting nose of dark fruit with some earthiness. Still very young, the tannins need time to soften up and hopefully the alcohol in the finish will diminish. This has the potential for being a very good Zin but I would wait a year before opening up the next bottle. This wine was much better the second day. (3182 views) |

Zinfandel ZAP: Zinfandel Advocates & Producers | Varietal character (Appellation America) | Wikipedia-ZinfandelOld Vines Old Vine/Vieilles Vignes (Wikipedia)USAAmerican wine has been produced since the 1500s, with the first widespread production beginning in New Mexico in 1628. Today, wine production is undertaken in all fifty states, with California producing 84% of all U.S. wine. The continent of North America is home to several native species of grape, including Vitis labrusca, Vitis riparia, Vitis rotundifolia, and Vitis vulpina, but the wine-making industry is based almost entirely on the cultivation of the European Vitis vinifera, which was introduced by European settlers. With more than 1,100,000 acres (4,500 km2) under vine, the United States is the fourth-largest wine producing country in the world, after Italy, Spain, and France.California2021 vintage: "Unlike almost all other areas of the state, the Russian River Valley had higher than normal crops in 2021, which has made for a wine of greater generosity and fruit forwardness than some of its stablemates." - Morgan Twain-Peterson |
