Tasted by vin0vin0 on 4/23/2012 & rated 82 points: I was a little leary but this isn't a bad wine. Fairly smooth, somewhat round without the mustiness I get with most lower priced Merlot. (2952 views)
Tasted by LEXKYWINE on 3/13/2012 & rated 80 points: drinkable. fruit forward, no complexity no structure, what I would expect for $8 (3635 views)
Tasted by julieandsheil on 11/24/2011 & rated 77 points: Decanted for two hours. Immediate dark cherry notes with a hint of strawberry. Medium tannins. Light but very uninspiring. Drinkable, but there are likely better Merlots in this price range. (3948 views)
Tasted by jaw22690 on 11/20/2011 & rated 80 points: Not bad for $5 (2125 views)

Merlot

Merlot is a dark blue–colored wine grape variety, that is used as both a blending grape and for varietal wines. The name Merlot is thought to be a diminutive of merle, the French name for the blackbird, probably a reference to the color of the grape. Its softness and "fleshiness", combined with its earlier ripening, makes Merlot a popular grape for blending with the sterner, later-ripening Cabernet Sauvignon, which tends to be higher in tannin.
