Tasted by mkbabs on 11/26/2011 & rated 72 points: The primary redeeming features of this wine is that it had alcohol and was cheap. Took it to a football talegate party and it was the only thing that was not finished. Might have been drinkable with a meal, but I only had one glass on it's own. The box wine was even finished to the exclusion this stuff. This is a great example of the power of marketing. (2646 views)

Tasted by wicozani on 3/13/2008 & rated 87 points: This inexpensive, Australian merlot is a medium garnet in color, with a nose of crushed red berries, cherries, and a hint of both spice and vanilla. On the palate this comes across very fruit-forward, but without jamminess or 'fruit-bomb'-like character. It is well balanced with the aforementioned crushed red berries, a touch of pepper, some vanilla oakiness, and soft but present tannins. On the whole, very impressive for the very low entry fee! I had this with steak, and the pairing was just so-so. This is because this merlot is not very complex, and does not really evolve in the glass. This wine is, I believe, better by itself or with cheese and crackers. That said, it is a stout value and very enjoyable to drink. (2916 views)
Tasted by lewisnh on 1/18/2008 & rated 89 points: Very smooth, will buy again! (2023 views)
Tasted by Billyray on 1/5/2008 & rated 85 points: Deep color, nice nose of earth and berry, very light on the palate, soft finish. A good Merlot for the $. Need to have more around for every day consumption. (1887 views)
Tasted by tatumvay on 12/29/2007 & rated 84 points: dark color, almost purple. Nose has some berries, hint of plum, a bit of vanilla as well. Very fruity taste, some spice with oak and pretty full bodied, I'd say. (2139 views)
Tasted by jjlobi on 10/11/2007 & rated 86 points: Pleasant surprise. Smooth and light, would re-purchase. (1835 views)
Tasted by bartmassey on 9/22/2007 & rated 85 points: nice smooth and simple, but worth $8.50 (1995 views)
Tasted by indiscriminate palate on 4/20/2007 & rated 84 points: Silky, smooth, and surprisingly not bad. (1557 views)

Merlot

Merlot is a dark blue–colored wine grape variety, that is used as both a blending grape and for varietal wines. The name Merlot is thought to be a diminutive of merle, the French name for the blackbird, probably a reference to the color of the grape. Its softness and "fleshiness", combined with its earlier ripening, makes Merlot a popular grape for blending with the sterner, later-ripening Cabernet Sauvignon, which tends to be higher in tannin.
