| Community Tasting Notes (average 86.7 pts. and median of 88 pts. in 15 notes) - hiding notes with no text | | Tasted by GregBates on 10/11/2017 & rated 85 points: After a peculiar aroma/taste blew off it was floral and quite nice with Thai food (543 views) | | Tasted by gbanks on 10/18/2013: Tastes like a wine five times its age. Not necessarily in a good way? Apple dominates up front, with a nice mineral finish but not much in between. Could be interesting with the right food (pork?), but not great on its own.
As it happens, I had the 2011 at the winery just a few weeks ago, and it was a stand out with interesting floral notes. My takeaway is that this is a grape more to drink young. (1087 views) | | Tasted by Ron&nina on 2/9/2013 & rated 88 points: Dry, crisp and light fruit. Wine is a little bit like a Gewurztraminer. Tropical notes. (1266 views) | | Tasted by margolism on 1/5/2013 & rated 89 points: Very nice, a bit Riesling-esque. Lots of balanaced acidity, apples, pear, very pleasant. (2011 views) | | Tasted by Risenc on 11/12/2011 & rated 87 points: A little spice, but very sweet with a long finish. Would be a great swap-in for a riesling. | Dr. Konstantin Frank Producer websiteUSAAmerican wine has been produced since the 1500s, with the first widespread production beginning in New Mexico in 1628. Today, wine production is undertaken in all fifty states, with California producing 84% of all U.S. wine. The continent of North America is home to several native species of grape, including Vitis labrusca, Vitis riparia, Vitis rotundifolia, and Vitis vulpina, but the wine-making industry is based almost entirely on the cultivation of the European Vitis vinifera, which was introduced by European settlers. With more than 1,100,000 acres (4,500 km2) under vine, the United States is the fourth-largest wine producing country in the world, after Italy, Spain, and France.New York Uncork New York!
