Community Tasting History

Community Tasting Notes (average 91.1 pts. and median of 91 pts. in 44 notes) - hiding notes with no text

Tasted by Bagwhat on 11/8/2021 & rated 94 points: Honey thick, apples, green grapes or kiwi, flowers, peaches, lemons. The nose and palate are the same, and they just go on and on and on. Definitely some residual sugar but ripping acidity to rein it in. An eye-opener. (1276 views)
Tasted by JWG on 8/19/2020 & rated 90 points: Very much like the bottle we had two years ago....see notes. (2052 views)
Tasted by cdunn on 7/26/2020 flawed bottle: Corked. Grrr (1960 views)
Tasted by David_K on 7/8/2020 flawed bottle: Beautiful color. But corked. (2003 views)
Tasted by OttawaB on 3/22/2020 & rated 90 points: Vibrant golden yellow in colour with a tint of copper. Aromas of honeyed ripe apples, touch of lemon, splash of ocean mist.
There is some density to the mouthfeel. Ripe to slightly bruised (but not oxidized) apples and pears. The wine is dry, but not extra dry, with splashes of honey (but not cloying and definitely not approaching syrupy) to go along with the slight tanginess. Acidity is waning a bit though and the wine has lost its freshness feeling. But still a nice intensity and thickness and overall balance. A richness to the overall intensity of the wine. There is a nice herbal and mineral element that kicks in on the mid palate and continues to the finish. Nice length on the finish as well. This is a good wine to contemplate on by itself. It just seems to be missing a bit of something …. Maybe some extra fruit would have been nice. Fruit wise, it seems a bit one dimensional with the apples and pears, although with some air you can get wisps of ripe peach juice. (2196 views)
Tasted by Bruce 1er on 2/6/2019 & rated 98 points: Amazing. Complex, decadent, rich. Excellent tropical fruit and minerality, offdry and nicely balanced with good acidity. A beautiful wine. (2300 views)
(2054 views)
Tasted by JWG on 7/23/2018 & rated 90 points: Tropical fruits dominate in this delicious vouvray with a rich mouthfeel. Acidity keeps it fresh and bright. (1856 views)
Tasted by Motz on 6/29/2018 & rated 91 points: Pleasant oxidative notes, interwoven with fruit and terroir elements. High energy mouthfeel, clean, appealing definition. Balanced and long. Still evolving and likely to last for another decade+. (2156 views)
Tasted by alanr on 8/23/2016 & rated 90 points: Has a bit of color, which I think has been there from the beginning; not a lot on the nose, bit of lightly crushed fruit and some sea spray; as might be expected from a 2009 there is plenty of rich fruit here, though it doesn't come across as overripe or cloying in any way, just a lot of intensity, with plenty of balancing acidity, a good kick of umami richness through the middle and well into the finish, which goes on nicely. Overall, a very good wine, though missing some complexity gears, and the richness overpowers any minerality that might be there in a cooler year. (3299 views)
Tasted by dke on 12/25/2015 & rated 91 points: Tropical fruits, apricots lemons slight viscosity and excellent acidity. This is a really nice wine. Still tastes young! (3177 views)
Tasted by jwsmith on 4/14/2014 & rated 91 points: Good not great (3991 views)
Tasted by PDX-S on 2/16/2014: Medium gold in the glass. Pronounced nose of stone fruit and honeysuckle. Full bodied, oily viscosity, nice acid finish. Rich melange of flavors evolve on the palate - lemon custard, honey, peach skins, and some nicely delineating salinity throughout. Truly delicious and detailed, showing very nicely right now. White WOTN for me. (3323 views)
Tasted by Uglypinga on 7/4/2013: the love affair continues. deep, sensuous notes of lanolin, passion fruit, honey comb, pectin. just loaded with waves of different notes in both the nose and the palate and obviously begging for time but crazy good. (3453 views)
Tasted by JustNathan on 5/20/2013 & rated 91 points: A class act. Very pale lemon-gold, intense aromas of citrus, green almonds and green apples. Dry with mid to high acidity, stone fruit, the expected apple and quince taste with just an echo of honey, and a delicate but definite body, leading to a huge finish. (3365 views)
Tasted by jwsmith on 10/18/2012 & rated 92 points: Green tea smooth low alcohol very crisp finish. (3762 views)
Tasted by markjanes on 6/13/2012 & rated 89 points: Epic Boys Trip; 6/13/2012-6/17/2012 (Napa and San Francisco): Moderate depth of color, very aromatic with loads of apple, quince, and juicy pineapple aromas. Nice background minerality, no new oak. On the palate dry with very high acidity that is enveloped by a very lush texture, low alcohol. Fantastic balance, average length, great intensity, good complexity at this stage. Wine has loads of finesse, a very full and fine texture, classic expression of place. This is drinking quite young and will improve for plenty of years to come… typical classy wine you expect from this producer and vineyard that will improve with age (3807 views)
Tasted by GEL Wines on 4/27/2012 & rated 91 points: Drank at BBR Loire wine dinner
Fresh, appley but without too much sweetness, excellent expression of dry Chenin (3014 views)
Tasted by jmht on 3/16/2012 & rated 91 points: Consumed over two nights. The first night the wine was fruit forward, more demi-sec than sec, intense stone fruits and lemon... second night, the wine showed more restraint, nose of lemon, dried honey, palate of bitter lemon, lime, stone fruit (peach, some tropical fruit), acidity. It begs for shrimp. It is delicious now, but might be better if decanted several hours... but really warrants a long cellar slumber. (3214 views)
Tasted by Sundesertcactus on 3/10/2012 & rated 90 points: Really surprised by this wine. We have never had a Chenin Blanc, so this rating is really how much we liked the wine not compared to other Chenin Blanc's. This is an off dry wine, with a ton of acidity, that would probably allow this wine to age for quite a while. Lemon, and other citrus fruit notes dominate. Great introduction to Chenin Blanc. (1713 views)
Tasted by maxima on 3/7/2012 & rated 90 points: Beau nez sur le silex et le citron vert.
Belle bouche vive et rafraichissante, de la lime et une belle minéralité...passablement long et persistant.
Très bon! (2482 views)
Tasted by Dale M on 1/22/2012: Pure limestone, literally, limes and stones! So pure, focused, and chiseled. Should age with grace for many years. (2331 views)
Tasted by french16 on 11/22/2011: Open fire Blind Tasting (Our place): Bruised apple, volcanic minerality and a touch of lemon. Rich palate, a touch of RS, rather low acid. Right now this is pretty heavy to drink. We'll see how it ages.
Correctly guessed Huet '09. (2961 views)
Tasted by jmbara on 10/10/2011 & rated 88 points: Very good but I was expecting more for the price point. (1886 views)
Tasted by celtic67 on 10/7/2011: very ripe pear & sea shells on nose. quite rich on the palate but with excellent acidity. solid but very much showing the '09 ripeness, a bit much for me unfortunately. hopefully time will help... (2435 views)
