Community Tasting Notes (average 91.5 pts. and median of 92 pts. in 81 notes) - hiding notes with no text

Tasted by Ardross on 10/19/2023 flawed bottle: I think this is a faulty bottle - no stone fruit very little bouquet and over acidic (430 views)
Tasted by chatters on 9/24/2023: Sunday lunch with the Wine-Ark boys (Porcine, Oxford Street): Low intensity aromas show a little vegetal note, honey…Medium plus intensity acidity, creamy, tangy, honeyed notes, very slightly sharp. Touch of textured burr, it's a little flat. Hmm for me. (655 views)
Tasted by jsmorris707 on 2/2/2023 & rated 94 points: Similar to prior note after a 1 hour SO; delicious, drink or hold. (904 views)
Tasted by Ardross on 1/20/2023 & rated 93 points: Definitely more gold in colour than earlier bottles and maturing stunningly - honey, softened stone long finish of slight toffee apple notes - just lovely Vouvray (703 views)
Tasted by chatters on 3/26/2022: Coravin fun - Alsace, Loire and Random French (My place, Kent Street): From Coravin. Bees wax with a little polish underpin over honey, candy floss, lemon, a little minerality slight herby, green apple quality. Medium plus intensity acidity, burr tugs at the mid palate ,flavours are slightly muted after the Bredif's. Feels like it is more about structure. Okay. (1347 views)
Tasted by jsmorris707 on 2/26/2022 & rated 94 points: Similar to prior note after a 1 hour SO, but more harmonious with acidity in check; delicious, drink or hold. At our BB tasting, everyone guessed white Burgundy (1253 views)
Tasted by MJReb on 9/5/2021 & rated 92 points: Chez Zim: salty mineral elements, great density and length, excellent, supposed to be in its drinking window for the next 20 years. (1463 views)
Tasted by jsmorris707 on 2/16/2021 & rated 92 points: SO'd for an hour, green apple with a touch of honey, dry with still prominent acidity; very good, drink or hold. I suspect the acidity will keep it going for yrs (1818 views)
Tasted by rikipedia on 1/18/2021 & rated 89 points: Evening of older more unusual wines... (Elgin): After an evening looking at some older wine, 2 have been flawed, one oxidised and the other less than interesting. Finally one that show nicely!
Mid lemon with aromas of honeysuckle, cantaloup melon, wet dog and soak ripe yellow fruits.
Has an air of sweetness but the entry is dry with high searing acidity tempered with lemon verbena, wet cotton wool, melon, perhaps more honeydew and lovely depth flavour. Good (787 views)
Tasted by Ardross on 12/28/2020 & rated 90 points: As for 2019 note (1391 views)
Tasted by Julian Marshall on 10/26/2020 & rated 88 points: Still enjoyable but fading away now. It's interesting how Clos de Bourg still has its purity, whereas this does not. On opening, it was spicy but still quite fresh, but the citrus fruits were rapidly replaced by slightly bitter honey. (1666 views)
Tasted by Ericsson on 9/11/2020 & rated 91 points: BBQ Maison (Palmer, Colin, Ratti,...) (Chez moi): De mémoire, ouvert sur les fromages qu'il accompagne bien.
Un peu particulier dans le line up... (1595 views)
Tasted by BeadyJay on 9/1/2019 & rated 93 points: I like this a lot.

Probably not optimally stored. The top of the cork was wet and discoloured but happily this has not affected the wine which is sound.

Lively, vibrant invigorating nose. Spicy, powerful on the palate – a big, energetic, exciting wine.

Still plenty of acidity there to balance the residual sugar. May well improve from here. (1694 views)
Tasted by Ardross on 8/30/2019 & rated 92 points: Extraordinary green slightly gold - stone fruit delicious and long . So so young. (1385 views)
Tasted by chatters on 1/31/2019: Annual Coravin blitz - day one (My place, Kent Street): From Coravin. Green apple, dusty spice, a little sulphur which lends an almost meaty quality, a little honey and a touch of herbs. Sharp green apple acidity, still very young for me. Travels long and softens as the finish progresses. Hmm. (1767 views)
Tasted by rikipedia on 12/24/2018 & rated 91 points: Mid yellow/gold to deep straw.
Classic intense aromas of wet dog, quince skin, dried pear, Valencia orange and button mushroom. Some mineral and dried pineapple poke through.
A taut entry with strident acidity and mineral-driven. This delicious cleansing wine delivers a hint of richness with pineapple slices and papaya yet quickly returns to mineral, river stones and an intriguing moss and smoke element. The finish is long and returns again to a pineapple syrup mixed with tart quince jelly. Very quirky and enjoyable! (639 views)
Tasted by BillBell73 on 11/26/2018: From a 375. Racy, vibrant and light gold in color. Needs about an hour of air before blossoming - seems very youthful at age 13 and could become an excellent wine with time - just starting to develop and has the acid to carry it. (1700 views)
Tasted by MRichman on 9/10/2018: Good, but advanced in age. Not a great cork. (1668 views)
Tasted by mhewitt on 5/29/2018 flawed bottle: Oxidized (1690 views)
Tasted by MRichman on 8/30/2017: Nicely mature. Silky, clear with some wool. Great complexity. Lemon peel, nuts. Super long finish. Excellent. (1875 views)
Tasted by Villon on 7/7/2017 & rated 92 points: Très belle bouteille, sur son plateau. (2019 views)
Tasted by brooklynguy on 9/22/2016: A really good bottle. Great acidity and energy, lovely and classic aromas and flavors that show a savory side, in addition to the honeyed fruit, and great underlying minerality. lovely. (3635 views)
92+ (3005 views)
Tasted by JeffGMorris on 4/2/2016 & rated 92 points: Rednecks & Rhones. Amazing wine for a Sec. Medium bodied with a surprising level of depth - exactly what I predicted about the '05s - that there were deep layers of fruit hiding beneath on release. Lots of wax & lanolin. Enjoyed much better than I usually do with a Sec. 50+13+13+8+8=92 (2935 views)
Tasted by Chris Newport on 2/25/2016: This is fantastic. Secondary aromas and flavors are really starting to emerge. Drinking surprisingly well, although there is still a strong acidic backbone keeping everything in check, this has a long way to go before it approaches full maturity. (2870 views)

Rockss and Fruit (11/28/2006)
(Huet Vouvray Le Mont Sec) This was slightly closed but a fabulous wine. Great nose of slightly underipe caramel, spice, wet wool, almonds and astounding minerality. The palate is clean and precise with a suggestion of sweetness and a wonderful complex finish. Started to open up aromatically right at the end of the meal. The nose become very floral and the palate had more cut and definition but ultimately this wine did not have the snap of the brilliant '02.
