 Tasted by levicn on 5/7/2023 & rated 92 points: 深紫红色,闻香是法桶的香草奶油,黑果,紫罗兰和一点青味,入口酸度中等,单宁细腻无比,酒液甜美,成熟黑果包裹在香草奶油中,口感丝滑,真是一支可口而又愉悦的酒,余味满口香草味。不是一个深邃严肃的大酒,做得非常享乐,非常光滑,无论是果实成熟度还是用桶都无可挑剔,非常融合,让人忍不住多喝几口。 (1122 views)
Tasted by Romz on 1/23/2023 & rated 90 points: 23012023 - Chor Yee drink at a close friend’s house for CNY gathering. Nose: plum, ripe cherry, tobacco, oak and hint of black pepper. Palate: still very young. Medium acidity with medium to full body. Tannins are plush and chewy but gained more weight after 2 hrs in. Would love a revisit in 10 years time! (1201 views)
Tasted by Psdycp on 11/19/2022 & rated 94 points: Very dark and complex bouquet of toasted spices and oak, vanilla cassis and black plums, smoked meat, dried herbs and tobacco. Yet it is still quite restraint and not in your face. On entry, palate is rich, smooth and slightly sweet from the ripe fruits and spices. Amazing concentration. It slowly transits to a polished and peppery mid-palate with some grip from the fine tannins towards the end. There is good freshness to balance the richness. Full-bodied and open structure, every aromatics elements are expressing in a well-mannered way, allowing the taster to get through the layers of flavours from entry to a finish which is leathery and long. There are aftertaste of bitter grape skin and spices. Ready to drink now with some breathing. Will continue to hold for the next 5-8 years. (1437 views)
Tasted by Juliansi on 7/12/2022 & rated 86 points: Coffee on the nose, lots of blackberry and plum, mild hints of mint exposed too.

Bottle 9 of 23 over our Genting Sempah early birthday staycation, we enjoyed 1 glass each of this on the 1st night of our holiday by the jacuzzi. Felt that it needed more bottle time, so we finished this on the 2nd day evening where we found marginal improvements then it fell away at the end as well.

Thanks to bro M for kindly sharing what's my fanciest Wolf Blass to date, though I can't find justification in the USD 100+ pricing.

Perhaps enjoyed still too young, needs another 10 years?

Matured as individual vineyard batches in a combination of 40% new and 38% seasoned French oak, 12% new and 10% seasoned American oak for 20 months.

🍇 Varietal composition...
54% Cabernet Sauvignon - 41% Shiraz - 5% Malbec

Oddly... the cork was that of a generic synthetic Cork with no printing whatsoever, did we get an oddball bottle!?

Foothills of Genting, Malaysia - Early morning, 2am on 10 Jul 2022 (1533 views)
Tasted by winesteward on 2/14/2022 & rated 88 points: Screw cap. Still quite dark. Coffee, cocoa, black berries on the nose. Ripe and sweet on the palate. Pop and pour is fine. Very soft already. Drink it if you have it. Not a particularly interesting wine, but can't really fault it either. Good length. (1519 views)
Tasted by Cellar3 on 6/13/2020 & rated 92 points: New world blend with a refined palette, not to jammie or fruity. (1747 views)
Tasted by brentwoods on 3/20/2020: Juicy, berry nose and palate. Long(ish) (improves as warms and opens up) and plenty going on (1713 views)
Tasted by graemeg on 7/8/2016: 2016 Sydney Royal Wine Show - Exhibitor's Tasting & Trophy Wines Lunch (Olympic Park, Homebush): (bronze medal; 87p) {screwcap, A$109} Plenty of big, ripe, mint-and currant scented fruit. Could almost be wrapped in dark chocolate and put in a little foil packet. The palate is medium/full-bodied, with medium powdery tannins, and medium length finish. The palate is less oaky than I expected; but it’s young; the ripe black fruits are blocky on the tongue, and it feels a bit disjointed on the finish. Time will fix all of this; it’s a good example of a slightly old-fashioned style these days. (4244 views)

Wolf Blass

Producer website

Cabernet-Shiraz Blend

A very popular blend in Australia-particularly from South Australia, where the two varietals work well together. The most famous of these would be the Penfolds Bin 389, considered Australia's most cellared wine. In years gone by this was referred to as "Baby Grange" as some of the wine used barrels from the vintage of Grange.

The 2018 Paternus states only McLaren Vale Shiraz (no Cab Sav).
