Tasted by vintage_whine on 7/8/2022: barely balanced but still drinking in peak condition (190 views)
Tasted by Racer117 on 10/9/2020 & rated 95 points: As before, spectacular. And like in the past, this still is carrying a lighter golden color. A bit of Grand Cru in the Green Valley. (354 views)
Tasted by Racer117 on 6/22/2019 & rated 94 points: Another supberb bottle with lots of life left. Tasting this makes me think Grand Cru Burgundy, not Sonoma. (484 views)
Tasted by Racer117 on 12/22/2018 & rated 94 points: A superb wine that we devoured so quickly.

Light gold color (particularly for its age); delicate nose with Stonefruit, citrus, and marshmallow; medium bodied with a nice balance between acidity and viscosity; flavors of citrus, melon, and toasty oak. Closes with a very long finish. (613 views)
Tasted by BoulderWine on 8/7/2017 & rated 93 points: Day 1: Wow, really good, Burgundian style, deftly balanced. Will enjoy the rest of the bottle tomorrow. Day 2: Some butterscotch coming through. (1155 views)
Tasted by HStaal on 8/4/2017 & rated 92 points: Lunch at Elystan Street (Elystan Street): Limited notes from memory after lunch:

Lemon, lime and some stone fruit. Medium straw colour. Good acidity, medium(+) bodied, creamy, buttery, long finish. None of us could quite place the mystery herb we all detected; our best effort was that it was reminiscent of Fenjal bath oil. The Sommelier suggested thyme but not really right. (1066 views)
Tasted by mdfuller on 5/17/2017 & rated 91 points: chablis-like with less mineral / chalk than some desire in chablis ... can't tell if i like this as well as the older Rueds ('09 especially). Had in afternoon without food for this 'taste' glass. (935 views)
Tasted by kennyd on 12/6/2016 & rated 89 points: I'm thinking this just isn't going to be one of my favorite Rued vintages. It's good, but the interest and flavor of past vintages isn't showing up. At this point, probably not going to wait any longer on the last two bottles in our cellar. (960 views)
Tasted by Terramare on 11/24/2016 & rated 93 points: Rued is always a special treat... this bottle was our white for Thanksgiving this year. Extended the end date out to 2020. (809 views)
Tasted by cbarrett479 on 7/25/2016 & rated 92 points: Big and bold chardonnay - 100% barrel fermented, 50% new oak, 100% malo.. But this wine holds it in check. Still has lots of bright tropical fruit on front of palate - finishes with oak. Never overly rich or buttery. Dense and full bodied. Reminds me a bit of the Kistler style or Hartford. Big chardonnay but still showing fruit. Recommended. (729 views)
Tasted by BoulderWine on 4/15/2016 & rated 92 points: Delicious! (678 views)
Tasted by mdfuller on 4/3/2016 & rated 91 points: had at dinner with other wine snobs ... everybody loved it. i think there may be a bit complexity to surface after a bit more time in bottle, but i may also be surprised ... a solid Rued vintage (604 views)
Tasted by kennyd on 3/1/2016 & rated 90 points: Solid. Better than last. In the middle of the pack for Rued vintages. Might improve with 1-2 more years aging, but that's not clear. Still, we enjoyed. (499 views)
Tasted by kennyd on 2/14/2015 & rated 88 points: See 5/11/14 notes. Consistent, but not even quite as good. Don't know about this one. There just seems to be an edge that is somewhat un-Rued-like. I MUST wait on next bottle from cellar. Give it until sometime into 2016. (1129 views)
Tasted by affordableCollector on 11/6/2014 & rated 89 points: light gold, in color. citrus, lemon, spice, on the nose. spice, citrus, lemon, mineral, sour fruit, lychee nut, on the palate. high acid, on the finish. (1206 views)
Tasted by tomherer on 10/21/2014 & rated 90 points: 4S Palo Alto enomatic. Peach, apple, grilled bread, hazelnut. Viscous. Medium acid and finish. Very expressive nose mirrors the flavors. A little heavy but balanced overall. Very good. (1104 views)
Tasted by td1836 on 9/27/2014 & rated 91 points: Good chardonnay, floral, tropical, rich, light oak. (423 views)
Tasted by gingerbreadman on 7/5/2014 & rated 89 points: A good brightly acidic Chardonnay made in the old style. Chardonnay characteristics are in abundance. Great balance of fruit, low minerality and little honey with low oak. (1211 views)
Tasted by kennyd on 5/11/2014 & rated 90 points: This has a taste that is somewhat similar to the 2010. Nice. I sense that it will evolve to have a rounder, fuller taste. Viscosity now is medium plus. Citrus and green apples are there, with a bit of a cream coating. Drinks well by itself, yet there is a flinty acidity that let this go well with the chopped salad we had for dinner. Gonna try to hold the rest of the bottles, and not drink another one for 12-18 months. (1256 views)

Chardonnay

The Chardonnay Grape

USA

American wine has been produced since the 1500s, with the first widespread production beginning in New Mexico in 1628. Today, wine production is undertaken in all fifty states, with California producing 84% of all U.S. wine. The continent of North America is home to several native species of grape, including Vitis labrusca, Vitis riparia, Vitis rotundifolia, and Vitis vulpina, but the wine-making industry is based almost entirely on the cultivation of the European Vitis vinifera, which was introduced by European settlers. With more than 1,100,000 acres (4,500 km2) under vine, the United States is the fourth-largest wine producing country in the world, after Italy, Spain, and France.

2021 vintage: "Unlike almost all other areas of the state, the Russian River Valley had higher than normal crops in 2021, which has made for a wine of greater generosity and fruit forwardness than some of its stablemates." - Morgan Twain-Peterson
