| Community Tasting Notes (average 87.1 pts. and median of 87 pts. in 15 notes) - hiding notes with no text | | Tasted by Drinking Trees on 5/27/2020 & rated 91 points: Medium-to-full-bodied, with rough, bark-like tannin. Acidity stays in the background, but is enough to provide balance to the strong tannin and fruit. Nose and palate show strong flavours of blackcurrant, blueberry, mint, and caraway. Decanting made the wine a little rounder and less intense; I preferred the decanted wine on its own, but the undecanted wine went well with some fatty lamb. (1061 views) | | Tasted by BigfootPMH on 9/11/2019 & rated 89 points: Ok and the years in the cellar have improved the wine significantly.
Inevitably it’s a quaffer and not special, but for the price it’s ok but not worthy of a future purchase (1357 views) | | Tasted by Bizzobazz on 11/7/2018 & rated 89 points: Dark berries and hints of mint, not bad, with some life ahead (1432 views) | | Tasted by BrendanM on 9/23/2018: V good (1446 views) | | Tasted by SyraCab on 9/13/2018: Un peu plus smooth, effectivement meilleur avec un peu de vieillissement. (1499 views) | | Tasted by Philckw on 5/30/2018 & rated 86 points: Easy drinking Cab. Slightly dry. (1008 views) | | Tasted by SpiSan on 11/1/2015 & rated 87 points: Balanced, very drinkable, no surprises. (2203 views) | | Tasted by Zipra on 10/27/2015 & rated 84 points: Mörkt röd
Doft: Eukalyptus! Fruktig, syrlig, torkad frukt. Kraftfull. Frisk, påtaglig, blommig
Smak: parfym, blommigt, kaffe, hög syra, bra tannin struktur, mörka bär.
Mainstream. (1929 views) | | Tasted by Lilja on 6/24/2015 & rated 87 points: Tasted blind. Quite enjoyed this, and even though I can understand the sentiments of the other tastings notes on this wine I do not agree with this being of such poor quality. Sure there is a lot of unripe greeness, but I have no problems with this in Cabernets and I like the freshness to the acidity that this gives to the wine. Fresh acidity is nothing that we really are spoiled with in Aussie reds.
But there is also quite a lot of roasted and fudgy oak, butter, wood, blueberry shrubbery, green bell pepper, wet gravel, coconut fat and a little candle wax.
Medium+ acidity, dry with a medium body. Medium intensity and medium finish.
Decent if you enjoy the greener style of Cabernet, otherwise you should probably stay away. (2417 views) | | Tasted by WimHH on 1/6/2015: Website Albert Heijn http://www.ah.nl/producten/product/wi183608/jacob-s-creek-cabernet-sauvignon-reserve

(2417 views) | | Tasted by graemeg on 11/19/2014: {screwcap, 14%} XA in June pretty much nailed this. Currant-like aromas & flavours, rather like the way a slightly cheap plastic flower resembles the original. Manages to be slightly sweet and slightly green at the same time on the medium-bodied palate; the tannins are soft but gritty and the finish fades like blue paint. It's competent in the wine-as-beverage sense; not for anyone looking for any real interest. I suspect the 'reserve' moniker means ever less as Pernod Ricard create yet more tiers of higher level label 'brands', so the grapes going into this are nowhere near the quality of those in the inaugural vintages of the late 90s. (2288 views) | | Tasted by garethb on 9/1/2014 & rated 80 points: Nothing much to signify reserve status.
Under-ripe perhaps too. (1203 views) | | Tasted by df1962 on 8/30/2014: PnP at a party no score. Struck me as having a bit too much of what I don't like in a Cab Sauv as in too many green notes trying to be covered by too much cheap oak. Would not buy again (1053 views) | | Tasted by Xavier Auerbach on 6/23/2014 & rated 86 points: The nose displays ripe but rather sweet blackcurrant fruit, eucalyptus and tobacco leaf, spicy oak, neither very deep nor very complex; relatively light weight for the extraction, 14% ABV and the oak treatment, grippy tannins, nice balance; decent length. Much better than the dismal 2009, but this still does not really live up to its billing as a "Coonawarra Reserve". Lower yields might be a start. (1199 views) |

| Jacob's Creek Producer WebsiteCabernet SauvignonCabernet Sauvignon is probably the most famous red wine grape variety on Earth. It is rivaled in this regard only by its Bordeaux stablemate Merlot, and its opposite number in Burgundy, Pinot Noir. From its origins in Bordeaux, Cabernet has successfully spread to almost every winegrowing country in the world. It is now the key grape variety in many first-rate New World wine regions, most notably Napa Valley, Coonawarra and Maipo Valley. Wherever they come from, Cabernet Sauvignon wines always seem to demonstrate a handful of common character traits: deep color, good tannin structure, moderate acidity and aromas of blackcurrant, tomato leaf, dark spices and cedarwood.
Used as frequently in blends as in varietal wines, Cabernet Sauvignon has a large number of common blending partners. Apart from the obvious Merlot and Cabernet Franc, the most prevalent of these are Malbec, Petit Verdot and Carmenere (the ingredients of a classic Bordeaux Blend), Shiraz (in Australia's favorite blend) and in Spain and South America, a Cabernet – Tempranillo blend is now commonplace. Even the bold Tannat-based wines of Madiran are now generally softened with Cabernet SauvignonReserve The Wine News | Wine Country This Week | Wine Lover's PageAustralia Wine Australia (Australian Wine and Brandy Corporation) | Australian Wines (Wikipedia)South Australia South Australian Wine Industry Association | South Australian Wines (Wikipedia)Limestone Coast Limestone CoastCoonawarra Coonawarra |
