Dk cherry, graphite, cedar. Well balanced and nuanced. (1124 views) | | Tasted by Alfaro on 11/19/2016 & rated 92 points: PNP, Great value, drank like a much more expensive wine! (1250 views) | | Tasted by Mike Kopanski on 8/1/2015 & rated 92 points: This is the real thing. This 2009 is still fresh and vibrant and could easily last many more years. We did not have the opportunity to decant, so we had to let Mother Nature aerate this wine the old fashioned way with swirling and time in the glass. Dark, ripe plum is the theme of this wine from nose to finish. The nose had lots of still young new Grench oak with the dark fruit. The fist taste was a little tight and also had lots of wood influence. By the time we refreshed our glass with another pour, the flavor profile was very much like a Merlot with easily approached blueberry fruit. The second time we refreshed, the flavor was more of a Cabernet Franc with some mild green pepper, lead pencil and very ripe black cherry. Definitely layered and complex enough to easily break the 90 point glass ceiling. This wine is not all fruit and other flavor components, it actually exhibits some southern Napa Valley terroir. Strong lingering finish with talc, spice, graphite, vanilla and forest floor complimenting the dark fruit. (1964 views) | | Tasted by creek55 on 3/21/2015 & rated 91 points: This cuvee is a favorite. It's getting better with time. (2112 views) | | Tasted by westcoastwannabe on 2/15/2015 & rated 91 points: Nice after a 40 minute decant. After 90 minutes, this wine elevated to a level well above its price point ($22). (2016 views) | | Tasted by Slime on 9/2/2014 & rated 90 points: good plum fruit that graciously last through a respectable palate (1558 views) | | Tasted by Merky_Waters on 8/9/2014 & rated 89 points: very traditional cali cab/blend notes. black fruit, graphite, ceder, and a little vanilla. enough structure to last 5 more years and definitely needs a good decant for drinking now.
that being said there is a lot of competition at this price point. (1361 views) |
| Worthy Producer websiteRed Bordeaux BlendRed Bordeaux is generally made from a blend of grapes. Permitted grapes are Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc, Merlot, Petit Verdot, Malbec and rarely Carménère.Today Carménère is rarely used, with Château Clerc Milon, a fifth growth Bordeaux, being one of the few to still retain Carménère vines. As of July 2019, Bordeaux wineries authorized the use of four new red grapes to combat temperature increases in Bordeaux. These newly approved grapes are Marselan, Touriga Nacional, Castets, and Arinarnoa.
Wineries all over the world aspire to making wines in a Bordeaux style. In 1988, a group of American vintners formed The Meritage Association to identify wines made in this way. Although most Meritage wines come from California, there are members of the Meritage Association in 18 states and five other countries, including Argentina, Australia, Canada, Israel, and Mexico.USAAmerican wine has been produced since the 1500s, with the first widespread production beginning in New Mexico in 1628. Today, wine production is undertaken in all fifty states, with California producing 84% of all U.S. wine. The continent of North America is home to several native species of grape, including Vitis labrusca, Vitis riparia, Vitis rotundifolia, and Vitis vulpina, but the wine-making industry is based almost entirely on the cultivation of the European Vitis vinifera, which was introduced by European settlers. With more than 1,100,000 acres (4,500 km2) under vine, the United States is the fourth-largest wine producing country in the world, after Italy, Spain, and France.California2021 vintage: "Unlike almost all other areas of the state, the Russian River Valley had higher than normal crops in 2021, which has made for a wine of greater generosity and fruit forwardness than some of its stablemates." - Morgan Twain-Peterson Napa Valley Napa Valley Wineries and Wine (Napa Valley Vintners)Napa ValleySt. Helena |
