This is the real thing. This 2009 is still fresh and vibrant and could easily last many more years. We did not have the opportunity to decant, so we had to let Mother Nature aerate this wine the old fashioned way with swirling and time in the glass. Dark, ripe plum is the theme of this wine from nose to finish. The nose had lots of still young new Grench oak with the dark fruit. The fist taste was a little tight and also had lots of wood influence. By the time we refreshed our glass with another pour, the flavor profile was very much like a Merlot with easily approached blueberry fruit. The second time we refreshed, the flavor was more of a Cabernet Franc with some mild green pepper, lead pencil and very ripe black cherry. Definitely layered and complex enough to easily break the 90 point glass ceiling. This wine is not all fruit and other flavor components, it actually exhibits some southern Napa Valley terroir. Strong lingering finish with talc, spice, graphite, vanilla and forest floor complimenting the dark fruit.

Nice after a 40 minute decant. After 90 minutes, this wine elevated to a level well above its price point ($22).
