To our positive surprise, this wine has progressed very well. In fact, we delayed dinner for 30 minutes so that the wine could aerate, at which time the wine was smoother and more balanced than initially.
The color was a deep purple to a medium purple rim. Lots of dark fruits and some earth on the nose. The medium to plus bodied palate showed blue and black fruits, some dark red fruits (which increased as the wine gained more air), spice, and touches of chocolate, coffee and earth. The acidity was up to the job of balancing all these flavors and any tannins were completely integrated. This wine should hold for several more years.
