It smells like blackberry, black currant (cassis), mushroom, toast, black pepper and meaty. The body is full. The wine has smooth texture. The wine finishes long. The wine has medium acidity. Day one was pretty much your Australian fruit bomb--just short of 15% alcohol and plenty of fruit but not much else. If I had rated it then I would have given it an 87 or so. Overnight it really opened up--exotic mix of Italian herbs, with oregano up front and what might have been black olives. Third day it held its own. Next time I will decant this one. (2371 views) |
